What safety features or security measures does Beaver Dam Assisted Living provide to protect residents who wander?
Residents who wander may do so due to illness. The first thing we do is rule out the physiological concerns, such as a Urinary Tract Infection or Upper Respirator Infection. Second, we monitor any changes in medications that may be causing an adverse reaction such as confusion, being up at night when normally they would be sleeping, etc. Staff increase frequency of checks on the resident. If it is determined the wandering is not related to a medication or an illness, we would discuss the need to transfer the resident to our secured Memory Care CBRF.
