I visited this facility
My mom will be moving in to Brookdale Queen Anne. We chose it because the food was very good and the dining room had a nice view. The studio apartment was fairly large and had a nice view. The people seemed really friendly and happy. It's close to where I live.

Brookdale is very nice. They have one area for really independent people, but for the meals, you have to cross the street. With our weather, that would not be fun. A lot of the rooms have kitchens or kitchenettes, so you could prepare some of your own meals. Brookdale was nice, but we didn’t want to be in a separate kind of area. It was a lovely facility, but it seemed so empty. They were very nice and a lot of them knew each other, so that was OK. It was nice, but we didn’t like that hillside; it was just too much.

We picked Brookdale because it was close to my sister. The place is in a great location, lovely, and well-kept. The staff is terrific and very courteous.

I visited Brookdale and I liked it very much. I also stayed there for three days a couple of years back. It has full, 2-bedroom apartments with full kitchens. The staff was very nice, they have good exercise facilities, and some games.

My father moved here in February and it's exceeded our expectations. He moved here after living alone in a one bedroom apartment for 10 years. He was very lonely and isolated, and he was starting to need some help with meals. He was also a fall risk.
He has a lovely south facing studio apartment with a deck. It has a very open and airy feel and we were able to make it feel like his former home. The grounds there are very well maintained. The very first thing I noticed about Brookdale is that it doesn't feel institutional at all--the dining room and lobby area feel like a very nice hotel. People congregate in the open areas, reading newspapers and drinking coffee.
My father has found a group to have dinner with every evening, which is something he looks forward to each day. The other residents have been so kind to him, especially after he had surgery. In just 3 months there, he's had more social contact than he's had in the prior 10 years. He seems so much happier.
I visit him several times a week and often eat meals there. I'm always impressed that the staff there greet me by name and take the time to ask me about my father or to share their observations of him. It's a very welcoming and caring place.
My father is primarily independent living, so I really can't comment on the assisted living aspect. He is technically enrolled in assisted living and after his surgery he needed some assistance with changing bandages for a few days, which seemed to go well.
My father has been very impressed with how quickly the maintenance team has addressed any request he's had, from hanging shelves, fixing his air conditioner and fixing his blinds. They are usually up in his apartment within a few hours of his request.
If I have one criticism, it's that the dining room staff have made a mistake with the order every time I've been there. They don't have the same training/experience as restaurant servers. But it's not a huge issue, though, as they will happily address any mistakes.
Overall, it's been a great fit for my father and our only regret is that he didn't move there years ago.

Emeritus Queen Anne changed ownership to Brookdale right after my brother moved in. It has gone steadily downhill!!!! Particularly transportation!!! He has had to take an expensive taxi to/from the facility transport cannot come back to hospital to get him after 4pm. With chemo and doctors' visits at Swedish weekly, he has no choice but a taxi. Also free transport to stores is only available if you know EXACTLY when and where you want to go. The people living there are practically INMATES with very few choices! I have called the Director who assures me he'll look into various issues but nothing ever happens. The monthly cost is HIGHWAY ROBBERY considering what is offered! Of course, one always had the option of moving but debilitated w cancer, makes moving a virtual impossibility!

This senior residence has been going downhill for the last 2 years - every since Merrill Gardens sold the facility. However, with the sale/merger with Brookdale, things seem to be racing to the bottom quite quickly. The building is very nice - apartments very livable, dining room lovely.....however, the quality of food and service is not the high quality that made my mother move in in the first place. Staff turnover has been extremely high and the new management has been mostly invisible.

Very disappointing. The staff turnover is extraordinarily high, and the CNAs seem poorly trained and overworked. When my mother lived here, we were extremely disappointed in the quality of service, food, lodgings and activity....definitely didn't live up to its promise and its high price.

The location is excellent for older people who want access to culture. Seattle Center is nearby, as are multiple coffee shops, groceries, and playhouses. Lower Queen Anne is in a fairly low crime area. One drawback is that the facility is on a slope, so more active adults may need assistance walking in the nearby area. The building is spacious, with good visibility to the outside for those unicorn-like sunny Seattle days. The socialization areas and outdoor gardens are well kept. The dining room is open to walk-in parties until 7 p.m. so adults are not forced into a regimented schedule. My only negative comment is that my dad is a walker, so the steep sidewalks, combined with Seattle rain, make for a fairly dangerous combination. The location is very close to a cultural hub, but the terrain can be treacherous. Parking is not easily available as many local residents appear to park on the sidewalks.
