I am/was a resident of this facility
I went to Mount St. Vincent under strange conditions. The people in Salt Lake City said they had made arrangements for me to go there. I got to Seattle, they said "we don’t have a place, we don’t have your name, we don’t have anything for you," and I was really very miserable at that point. I had to call to my doctor’s office and they called all over town and finally the next day I got in to Mount St. Vincent. I could not get a single room. I was in a room with a woman who had many, many problems and among them her bowels in the middle of the night which made the room stink so much that I would gag. There were no single rooms for me. I realized that the quality of their physical therapy did not meet the same standards with the other facility I was in. Part of my problem was the woman that was in the room with me; I felt great empathy for her. She should have been in a room alone. The food was better than the other facility I was in. They did not salt, and they did not have as many fried foods and so many people said that’s just institutional food, but I don’t think that’s a good excuse. I was feeling absolutely miserable, I was in a great deal of pain, and I really just thought I just wanted to be up by myself which was not a possibility, and they tried certainly.

I visited this facility
Providence Mt. St. Vincent is a clean, caring environment. People greet you when you walk in, and make sure you are welcome and can find where you are going. The residents are well-cared for, there is a high ratio of staff to residents. The facility works hard to integrate the local community with the nursing home: local school groups come to visit, children's choirs perform at holidays, and neighbors are welcome to come and visit, and residents are taken to local areas like Alki Beach for outings. Also, I've eaten there once and the food was much better than other similar facilities I've visited. The facility

I am a friend or relative of a resident
Mt. St. Vincent is home to some of the kindest and most caring providers in the state. My grandparents were both extremely reluctant to leave their apartment and go into assisted living, but after a transitional stay at another home, they found Mt. St. Vincent to be a good fit for them. It is a Catholic organization and they provide many religious services such as multi-denominational chapel services and holiday activities, but religious affiliation is not a requirement. They also have many day retreats and activities for the residents. The facilities are clean, well lit, and spacious, and the location is convenient. Based on what my grandmother has told me, she greatly enjoys the staff and has made several very close friends. My grandparents were never quite as happy in other places. Making the move to assisted living is a very tough decision for many elderly folks. I am grateful to Mt. St. Vincent and their staff for their excellent care of my grandparents and for making that transition as easy as possible.
