We went to look at Aljoya Mercer Island. We like the walkability. The Starbucks is behind you, and we lived on Mercer Island for 40 years, as did one of our daughters, so it's a community we know. The director showed us different parts of the building, like the dining room. They only have like 118 units. I think they take way too good care of people. We saw a room that they had arranged for us to see. They have a wide amount of square footage, from one bedroom to two and three bedrooms. They all had different views. They had a swimming pool, a hairdresser, and a barber shop. Everybody raves about the food. They just had a new chef. People from outside can eat in the dining room. They had a very nice dining room manager who had been there for like 14 years. You can sit with different people every night. There's no assigned seating. They have a lot of public lounges in the front when you enter. They're in the process of redecorating the public areas. They have a lot of rooms that you could have family parties in. They're having a garden party where people can come in and see what it's like out in the garden and have meals outside. It's a fun way to talk to other residents who are either on the waiting list or live there. They have a hostess at each table who tells what it's been like for them since they moved in. They have a bus to take you anywhere. I've heard no complaints, and nobody's leaving. Every unit has balconies, air conditioning, and fireplaces.

The facility itself is wonderful but I don't know what happened to the restaurant Lilly's. We went down for breakfast and were the only people in the place, when we got our food everything was cold and overcooked, half of the items on the thing we ordered weren't there. To tell you the truth it was the worst breakfast I've ever experienced.

We toured Aljoya Mercer Island. It's right in downtown Mercer Island, which is a small community, and it seems like it would be easy for older people to walk around and get to places. We saw an exercise class that had just ended. We toured the independent living.

We looked at Aljoya, but my mom did not qualify for it. I think it was a lovely place for people who have the money and are living pretty independently on their own. It was a wonderful community.

My mother lived at Aljoya for over 3 years. The staff and the entire environment were great. It was a very classy and well kept up spot to live at. The staff knew everyone’s name, including mine. I would highly recommend Aljoya. The food was very nice, there was a pool and Jacuzzi to use as well. The parking was very easy.

My parents came to Aljoyah when it first opened. It has been an amazing experience for our entire family. Aljoyah has become their home. As children, we are so very grateful for all the staff - who have treated my parents like family. The love, care, attention and standards of excellence have made Aljoyah a safe, welcoming and joyful place to live. As a child who lives many states away, I know at any time I can call one of the primary staff for questions, support, processing and updates on my parents. When my mother passed away 4 years ago, the staff made sure to give extra attention to my father in his time of grieving - including him in activities, checking on him regularly, listening to his stories and letting him know he was not forgotten. Their are truly no words for our gratefulness to Aljoyah as family members!

Aljoya is an exceptional retirement community on Mercer Island. It is a beautiful place with all the bells and whistles you would expect at a top notch facility. The staff is very caring and the residents seem to be happy living there. My parents recently moved in and they are enjoying meeting all of the residents and participating in the activities. It is comforting to know that they are being well cared for as they age in a beautiful atmosphere. We are lucky to have such a fabulous place on Mercer Island.

First and foremost, Aljoya is a community, one in which residents enjoy and genuinely care about one another. The staff is equally responsive and extremely pleasant. The rich array of excursions and presentations offered to residents ensures a vibrant lifestyle for all. Aljoya's beautiful, lush gardens are a joy to behold, dining at Lilley's is, much more often than not, an exceptional/delicious treat! Facility maintenance is superb. My decision to move to Aljoya two years ago has, indeed, proven to be a wise and extremely happy one!
