I visited this facility

I toured Grandview Village. I like that the staff was friendly. However I did not like the apartment that was available. It was dark and small. And it did not seem like they had as much staff that was visible on the day that I visited. It also seemed dated. They were in the middle of remodeling. They had a dining area, a living room area, and a courtyard. In the courtyard, the walkway had a lift that should have been repaired. It was marked with white paint, but it was a tripping hazard.

Provider Response

Grandview Village was beautiful. The architecture inside and how it was laid out was beautiful. They had a courtyard there that was just gorgeous. The only problem was that they did not have 2-bedroom apartments, they only had 1-bedroom apartments. The carpeting was old and worn out, and there was a big stain in the hallway where we were walking. They had an older portion and a newer portion of that place. The person that we were supposed to go see wasn't there. And then the other person that we could have seen wasn't there either. So they had to find somebody else to take us around. But she was very helpful, nice, and informative. We were able to go into one resident's apartment and take a look inside to see how it was laid out, and that was kind of nice. As we were leaving, we saw some residents coming in and out of a van, and they took them somewhere. I saw a hair salon, but that's all I remember.

Provider Response

Thank you taking the time to share your experience touring Grandview Village! We are happy to hear you enjoyed our beautiful courtyard and also had an opportunity to view one of our apartments. We will pass along your words to our team.

Grandview Village was a nice facility. The staff and some of the residents that I was able to meet were also very nice. The people that gave the tour were very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They had a nice central common area, a nice dining facility, and a beautiful outdoor courtyard that the residents could use. The room sizes were average compared to the other facilities that I toured. They offered a studio and one-bedrooms, and both models have mini stoves so the residents can cook if they want to. The refrigerators that they supply, though, were very small. They're smaller than what you'd find in a hotel room. There's not really enough room to put a whole lot in. The cabinetry and the cupboards were not much. What they have was pretty cute and it kind of reminds me of being in a college dormitory, but one of the residents nvited us into her room and despite the fact that I couldn't stand the cabinets, she had it decorated very nicely and it looked homey and nice.

I have a very good rating for Grandview Village. Everything that I've seen was a 5-star. Everything they did for me was a 5-star. I've just seen the first part of it and when I drove into the parking lot, everything was very well maintained, very clean, and organized. The staff was very informative, gave me all kinds of leads or which step to take next and a list of places to go, and a book of all the facilities in the area and the reviews on them, so that was extremely helpful. They just wouldn't accommodate my mom because it wasn't a memory care facility. If a person has dementia and they wanted to leave, they could, because their doors are not locked. I've seen the cafeteria and a room where they go for gaming and entertainment.

Grandview Village was a very clean place and the staff was very friendly. It did not feel like a hospital. It seemed like they took great care and pride in the facility, their staff, and also their residents. I have seen how the food was prepared as they actually had a meal going on when we were there. They had a menu that they could order from, and they could get their eggs ordered how they wanted. It seemed like a very professional operation, and that they actually cared. I would be happy with my family at that place. They had a salon, an activity center, a courtyard for walking around, a water fountain, onsite laundry, game areas, and multiple areas where you could visit. They had a shuttle service so they do offsite activities that they schedule.

We were really impressed with Grandview Village and we liked it a lot. The place was very nice and very friendly. The staff gave us good information and was very thorough. The room that we saw was very nice and big, but they were not furnished. While we were there, the residents were having a special activity for their residents in the living room, like a wine tasting event, and they were obviously enjoying themselves. They had a nice and safe outdoor walking area. They had exercise classes, puzzles, and card games. They are even going to have a wedding this week. Two of their residents are going to get married, which I thought was really fun.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for the lovely compliment Lenore. Our amazing activities coordinator and team organize some fabulous events and fun activities; everyone is looking forward to the upcoming wedding! We will be sure to pass along your kind words.

Grandview Village was great. It was clean and the person that was leading the tour was very informative. She made sure that I met some people. The units were nice. The common areas were also nice. They have a beauty salon and a courtyard. It just looked like a place I might want to put my mom in.

We toured Grandview Village. We really liked the staff, and we liked that everything was on one level. They went the extra mile to show us some apartments. My mom really liked it there. You need to bring furniture, but all the appliances were there. You have to bring your own microwave though. There was a stove and a refrigerator, and the stove had an oven. The facility looked good. The one thing that we didn't like is that there wasn't air-conditioning, and it was hot. The person who took us around was very friendly. I like that she spoke directly to my mom rather than me. I think that really helped us. As for outdoor space, there was a courtyard with a waterfall, so that was very nice.

I toured Grandview Village in person. People that were on the lounge seemed content. The staff that helped me were very helpful. The rooms were all brand-new and nicely cleaned. There's plenty of kitchen cupboard space, there's a washer and dryer, and it just looked good. There's a little way to go out,a kind of a little patio and I could put a chair out there, sit and watch the world. The living room was big enough, I liked it and I think I want to live there. We went through the open area and they showed us that there's a pool table and other things to do there. People were sitting out by the fireplace. It looked very clean, it didn't have any weird odors or anything. It was good, everything was nice and tidy. It was brand new so everything was looking real nice, and I was impressed with it.

Grandview Village seemed to be a very nice facility. They've got very nice people. I don't know anything about the food other than what they told me. They seemed to have activities and exercises. Their transportation was down at the time, but I'm guessing it's probably functional again. The rooms were unfurnished, but they seemed very nice. It looks like they have an emergency button on the wall for them to use like in a hospital. The staff was very friendly and very helpful.

I visited this facility

There was less activity at Grandview Village than any of them that I went to and that I didn't care for, but the people were nice. The lady that gave me the tour was wonderful and the person at the front desk was wonderful, but there was nobody around and there were no activities at all. I thought "Are people just kind of stuck in their rooms here?" and they weren't all gone like on a bus trip somewhere or anything like that because I asked. It was very dark inside, too. That neighborhood I happen to know is not the best either. I would never have my mom live there just because of the neighborhood alone. I was not impressed by the place itself. I was turned off right away. Their rooms were kinda old and grungy like they need to remodel and just very small. In the middle of the complex, there's a garden, and that was the nicest thing about the place. The rest of it was just awful. I think they need to offer more activities because they had absolutely nothing going on. The staff was wonderful. I don't know what they're like if you live there, but the staff was nice. It was a very short and quick tour compared to all the other three I went to. It was the quickest tour of all of them. They say they have art classes, religious services, exercises, and bingo, but there was absolutely nothing going on at that time. I saw two people that live there that I just passed in the hall and then two employees, and that was it. It was a nice tour, but it was super short. It was very quick in and out. I felt like the staff wanted me out of there, but she was very polite and she has called me back. The dining room looked nice, but I didn't think the rooms were all that clean. The garden was all they had to offer. I believe they allow pets and that's a plus, but it's not a dealmaker or breaker either. They just need more activities and things to keep these people stimulated. They seem to be lying in their rooms all day.

Provider Response

Hi Cathy, Thank you for taking the time to review our community from your tour back in April. We are sorry that you had a less than favorable experience. Now that there are lesser restrictions on gatherings and group activities, we would love the opportunity to make it right. Please give us a call to schedule a visit if you would like to come during live music or one of our other activities.

The staff at Grandview Village in Marysville is amazing. Each and every one of them has treated my mom like family. They are warm and friendly and compassionate, not only to mom, but also to us, her family. Mom enjoys the many activities there. They make such fun and celebrate each holiday. Little treats, yummy meals, crafts, music, bingo, and so much more. One of mom’s recent favorites was a “snowball” fight with the staff, using huge marshmallows. Mom loves her courtyard view apartment a lot. It’s light & bright, and cozy & warm. Even with the craziness and restrictions of this past covid year - we could not be happier with the care mom has received there, and mom continues to love her home there.

When I took my mother to look at Grandview Village in Marysville, I had already look at a few other places. I really liked Grandview Village, it was small so she would get lost in a crowd. We looked at a couple of studio apts. and chose the layout we liked best. I decorated it so it didn't look like a bedroom in the living room area in a cottage theme. Since then her apt. has become one of the show apts. The staff is great, I can't say enough about them. My mother has had some challenging issues with her health and they have all been so good in helping us with them. I don't think I would have gotten through some of them without their help and support. Before Covid-19 activities, Teresa the director had activities every day and would take them shopping. I would come in once a month to do a crafting activity for whoever wants to come. They also had music on Saturday and the staff would join in on the dancing. There is always something going on for holidays even now with the Covid. The staff would dress up in a theme and parade through the halls. It is truly a fun place. If you are looking for a good caring assisted living facility Grandview Village in Marysville is the place to start. I give them an A++++.

My mother was a resident at Grandview for almost two years, before her death. She was so happy and enjoyed living there. The staff is AMAZING AND SO CARING. Everyone from the kitchen, office and medical team were ALWAYS so helpful and friendly. We were able to decorate her room, with all her personal items, which made her feel right at home. The one bedroom was very comfortable and roomy for her. There were so many activities and outings available for everyone. The main area was always decorated for the holidays & had a "happy feeling". We are thankful for Grandview and the excellent care our mother received there!!!!

My mother used to live at Grandview Village. It was OK. She just needed more personal care. They had exercise classes, bazaars, and a performer would come in and sing. They had quite a bit there. Half of the staff members were great, but the other half I could do without. They need to be a little bit more organized in some areas.

My mother was in a 2-bedroom 2-bath unit in Grandview Village. They offer activities and things for the residents. One thing that bothered me was that they change staff a lot. You just get used to one and then they change that person. It's an assisted living facility, and when we first went there they had the outdoor doors locked at 7:00 at night. So if I take my mom out to dinner or something, we would have to get back by 7:00 so she wouldn't be locked out, because the residents do not have keys to the outside. The food was not good at all, it was very sparse, and I don't think you'd ever feel full. Her room was really great, it's why we picked this community to begin with. The dining room was also really nice, including the foyer, It was all very clean. I would rate the staff as three because nobody was crabby or anything, but they're always changing hands.

My father has been living here for a month now and while the facility is nice, clean and well maintained (the common area has been nicely updated from the photos here) the most impressive part of our experience is the people. Every person from maintenance to the kitchen staff are positive warm and caring. I can't imagine a better surrounding for our dear father.

The staff was really helpful at Grandview Village. They gave me a lot of information about financing and options. They were just remodeling. The gardens were beautiful. The studio apartment that I looked at was really nice. It had a kitchen. They had gardening classes, trips, bingo nights, game nights, and family activities. It felt less like a hospital than other facilities.

The staff at Grandview Village is great. The rooms are good. It is clean and nice, and they are not too big. The dining room is setup with tables and chairs. They are on fixed time, so lunch is at 11am, and dinner is at 5pm. They have preset menus that they publish throughout the week so the people know what is being served. They have alternatives for those days as well. Breakfast is served between 7am and 10am. As for activities, they have several things throughout the day ranging from bingo to shopping field trips. They provide the needed services as well as religious type of stuff. It has been fairly excellent.

The events coordinator lady at Grandview Village Retirement Community showed me and my mom around during the visit, and she did a good job. The facility was a little dated; some of the carpets were a little old but were not dirty. It was a nice, clean and homey place. They had a one-bedroom apartment, which seemed very large to me. The apartments had a full kitchen, but if you wouldn't be cooking, they turned off the appliances. So that was a good sign. There was tons of cabinet space, a nice living area, a well-spaced bedroom. and a pretty regular bathroom. The residents had three meals a day. They offered spiritual activities and days out for doctor's appointments or shopping. They had a little shuttle bus when they did those activities. They sent us a community calendar. A doctor came either every day or every Wednesday, I was not sure which day that really was. And there was also a nurse on staff 24-hours. Overall, I was happy with them.
