I visited this facility

I visited Bonaventure of Lacey. They've been very, very kind. They have been wonderful. Their facility was lovely, but we're not sure if it's a good fit for my brother-in-law because of how far things have gone and how he has digressed mentally. I can't say enough good about it. What I like about it is mostly the staff. They have been very caring and compassionate, and their follow-through for customer care is above average. The rooms were nice and clean. Things seemed to be well taken care of. The level of care was, from what I could tell, excellent. All of these places are a little shorthanded. After all the COVID thing, people are just not wanting to work. We like Bonaventure. The facility itself was quite lovely. Every aspect of it was very, very nice. Everything was clean and very nice. The dining room was very lovely and it encouraged the residents to be social, but they also served in the rooms. They have games, organized activities, and outings and that sort of thing. They have a little store where they can go in and buy something if they want to. The facility was well taken care of. It's not run down or dirty. They're very professional, and the place emits safety, care, and compassion. The salespeople or the ones who made the initial contact were warm, but still maintained professionalism.

I visited this facility

My grandmother will be moving into Bonaventure of Lacey. It was very nice and very clean. It looked as though the residents there enjoy the facility. The staff during the tour was new, but she was very nice and respectful. If she didn't know something, she would look up and make sure that she had the correct answer for us, which I very much appreciated. She was open and honest, and I appreciated that quality in her. We looked at the menu and the menu seemed to have a good variety of different healthy types of food offered there so that anyone would be able to have the type of meals that they needed for their particular types of diet. They had a movie theater, a library, and a gaming and crafting area. They had different areas for the residents to be able to meet with their families and even hold events with their families there. They had a workout area there for residents who have different types of physical abilities. They had workout machines to do walks or lift weights based on how physically fit they were. They could provide opportunities for different kinds of residents. The staff who assisted me had just started that Monday there, but she had worked in care facilities for a long time. It's very well run. They have independent living, assisted living, and hospice there. They can easily transition people from one type of living space to another fairly easily there and I think that's great.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has been a Bonaventure Of Lacey Resident since 2020 This community is beautiful, has great service and my Mom enjoys her apartment and the especially friendships single woman. She feels safe and she has many friends she has grown to love. She lived in a community before Bonaventure, and never did she feel it was home. The staff always is kind and considerate to all My Moms needs. Covid was hard on all of the businesses - staffing and shortages affected everything we did and do- Even now unfortunately many of this age range don't experience this. Are things back to what they were, no. But is this for any of us. My Mother Loves her home! She is not Moving.

I am/was a resident of this facility

This is pretty much a repeat of what another review stated. Although this is from an independent view. Bonaventure is a very nice facility, the apartments are great, and the staff is friendly and seems to care about the residents they serve. Most of the time local management is open for comments and discussion however they have little authority to implement changes that would improve service. Everything is run by corporate offices in Salem, Oregon, and very little gets done without their approval. Most problems are blamed on staffing shortages and or supply delivery. Food is so bad many have moved soley because of that. Food is overcooked, undercooked, or, cold, and tastes bad. Menus are often incorrect or they do not have food on site. The salad bar is usually filthy as is the soup pot and both are left out between lunch and dinner uncleaned and unprotected. What you can have at each meal is limited in selection and amount. The monthly rent, as high as $4600 per month includes 2 meals a day. If you eat more than two you are charged extra in your monthly billing. even though you pay for an entire month if you do not eat your two meals each day you can not carry them over to another day. Many residents do not eat at all in the dining room, because of the poor quality of food and slow service and yet pay for it in their rent. dining rooms are open 1½ hours for each meal and often do not start serving until 20-30 minutes into the dining time lotted. Just this past Saturday and Sunday no one showed up to cook or serve food until a manager was called in and with one server tried to feed all the residents. The biggest problem is their failure in living up to their promise of "fine dining". Meals full of carbohydrates, and sugar with very little protein. Sandwiches and salads are the bulk of the dinner menu while pasta, rice and potatoes are served at most lunches. Their marketing also includes promises that are never kept. Recently senior residents asked a State Senator and State Representative to come to Bonaventure to respond to some of the resident's concerns, not all necessarily were concerned about Bonaventure. Bonaventure Corporate Office decided to send a representative to monitor our meeting. Instead of just monitoring, after one question related to Bonaventure the corporate representative took over the meeting and began a lecture about what all Bonaventure was doing. After going on for several minutes stood up and said they were here to hear from their constituents, not from Bonaventure management, and both the Senator and the Representative walked out saying they would arrange another meeting where the residents could speak to them. Later the Senator sent a letter to the CEO of Bonaventure telling him how rude their representative was to interrupt a meeting between elected officials and their constituents. This s indicative of how Bonaventure operates. There, is frequently a corporate rep in our facility and they seldom speak to residents but often make changes that affect residents without even consulting with the local managers on how the changes might affect residents. If the costs were not so high in moving from one facility to another Bonaventure would have an occupancy rate much lower than their current 70% or less rate. I would no longer recommend Bonaventure to anyone without making full disclosure of Bonaventure's shortfalls and its failure to deliver what they promise.

Other

Over we thought this was going to be a good place for my mother, but over the pass year I have had nothing but excuse for the management. We will fix that, or we can't get our staffing levels up. Then reduce the charge! Food, Over the pass several months the food has gotten so bad many in my mothers group of friends have complained to me personally. Food is cold, taste bad. Menus are often incorrect or they do not have food on site. Staff, Unable to correctly clean, do paperwork, return calls and are rude. Medical staff is improving, under their medical director. Value is poor at best, Assisted Living to include medical cost roughly $6500 for my mother. They pass meds 4 times a day and that is it. During the lock down they had nothing for the residents to go and or do. Salad bar was removed, food was limited. Activates, seem to be retuning with groups of people doing things together. If I knew that it was going to be so hard to clean a bathroom, dust a room, server hot food and correctly do paperwork I would have gone to a smaller place with less marketing.

I visited this facility

I toured Bonaventure of Lacey. They have a good floor plan, and they have a good location. The tour was very nice, the place was clean, but I toured it with only half a mind because I had already made up my mind, so I did not pay too much attention. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The apartment was clean, it did not have enough closet space, but other than that it was OK. The dining area was just like another big dining room in a restaurant. It was a little bit too big for my taste, and I like it a little cozier, but when you have a house full of residents, you need a big dining room.

I visited this facility

I looked at everything at Bonaventure of Lacey. The tour was good. They're very informative and very helpful. The facilities were very nice, very clean, and seems to be in order. The rooms were very well-decorated and very clean, and they layout was good. It looked convenient for my wife who's very ambulatory, so it would work well for her. They also said that most of the rooms have no step showers, which is important. From what I saw, the staff was very good.
