I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

When my brother moved from CT in 2010 into a Windsor Meade Villa, it left my 97 yr.old mother alone in her CT home of 60+ years. We were fortunate enough to move her from there into an assisted living apartment at Windsor Meade. We found a caring and supportive staff and were able to personalize her apartment so that it felt like home. The public rooms were spacious and well decorated and offered views in all directions. There were just enough activities to keep her occupied and medical help and physical theraphy were readily available. The food was nicely prepared, although some portions were too large for her. Independent Living residents came and read to her and took her to activities. She was also able to go to the main dining room for Sunday Brunch with my brother and with my family when we visited. Her quality of life in her final 3 years was excellent. Our experience with my mother, and reports from my brother encouraged us to move into a Villa the minute we retired. This has been an excellent experience for us since 2018.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother went to Windsor Meade to rehab after hip surgery. We thought it would be a good opportunity to see the facility as she had been talking about moving into a continuing care community. After 2 weeks of daily issues which resulted in improvements in mobility due to PT but significant deterioration in her other health issues as her medications were given not given on time (one medication that she was to have every 12 hours she would be given her morning dose finally around 11-12 and then given her night dose at dinner time rather than bedtime. She went to her Dr. the day after she was released and he was absolutely disgusted as she had been stable for years before going to Windsor Meade and now her numbers were all off and he had to adjust her meds and get her back on track. It is a beautiful facility with great amenities but if your loved one really needs assistance you need to look elsewhere as they will not get necessary care here.

My parents have an apartment in the main building and have lived there for the past several years (since it's opening). We have found it to be a wonderful place with caring, attentive staff, tons of activities (they frequently invite us and the grandkids for shows/concerts/movies that are top-quality). My Dad is on the Bocce Ball team as well as the wood-working group. They stay active in the gym which is world-class- one of the olympic teams practices there due to the type of machines...not sure what it is, but they are top notch as well as the pool! This is a very high-end retirement community and has some of the best staff/chefs! I have worked in about 27 nursing homes/communities, so I've seen a variety of them when I was in my clinical job; so I speak from experience. I would highly recommend Windsor Meade to anyone...my parents have been very happy there!

WindsorMeade of Williamsburg's rooms were a nice size. They had quite a few activities listed, a pool, and an exercise room. They had two, OK dining areas. The building is about eight years old and well-maintained. The residents appeared happy.

The only problem with WindsorMeade was that it was breathtakingly expensive. It was very nice, and we liked Williamsburg in general, but we just felt that it was too expensive for us. All their rooms had vaulted ceilings and were very well decorated. I can see why it is expensive. For those who can afford it, it is very nice, and there is no question about that. The food was good. We had lunch there, and it was good.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I want to share the difficult experience that my family endured with WindsorMeade, a retirement community in Williamsburg, VA in 2014-2015. The unexpected problems all started in the spring of 2014 when my parents received approval for residency at WindsorMeade, and their medical information was received in May 2014. However, on a holiday, Memorial Day, we received a call from WindsorMeade staff telling us not only that there were questions about my mother’s physical condition but also that it was uncertain that they would be able to move into WindsorMeade. Their house had been sold, their belongings were packed, the moving trucks were on the way, and it was only a few days before the move to WindsorMeade. In my opinion, the senior management lacks the compassion and professionalism because they made the most difficult transition of my elderly parents’ lives so much worse than it had to be. Moving my parents out of their one and only home of a large metropolitan area after 80+ years was traumatic enough, but then to face all of those questions and the uncertainty of the location of their next home at the last minute was horrible. The day after that Memorial Day phone call, my husband and I actually did the impossible – we drove around to my mother’s doctors offices without appointments to gain clarifications from her doctors, which we accomplished within a few hours. Despite all of our efforts, my mother was still forced to take a memory test with a WindsorMeade nurse on the day of her arrival even though she was exhausted from a sleepless night before and a long drive on the interstate highway. My mother was upset and humiliated to be forced to take the test, but she passed it with flying colors. My blood pressure must have doubled that day. My parents, husband and I were all so disgusted. It is beyond belief that such a lack of compassion is be allowed in any retirement community, particularly one that struggled through bankruptcy just a few years ago. The next day my husband shared our disappointment with senior management. They indicated that someone had been on vacation and did not complete the medical review process for my parents. They did NOT apologize for the oversight, and they had the audacity to ask my husband to ask me to stop complaining about her to others. That is the last thing I would have done if I were in their position. I feel that the initial experience with senior management pretty much ruined our time at WindsorMeade for my entire family. Seven months later my father passed away. As soon as my husband’s and my new house was built in 2015, my mother moved out of WindsorMeade and into our house with us. Senior staff didn’t even say thank you for our patronage after spending thousands of dollars there. For fear of retribution, I waited until we received my mother’s share of the entrance fee refund before I wrote this review to share with others. We were disappointed that we had to wait nine months before we received the refund because the next residents who took over my parents’ home in WindsorMeade were given six months to pay the fee. However, my parents were required to pay the entire fee immediately up front in 2014. Although there are some wonderful staff and residents in WindsorMeade, I truly believe that the senior management lacks the compassion and professionalism you would expect and hope to find in an expensive senior community.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My parents moved into a villa at Windsormeade the day of the earthquake 2011. The earth shook, and their new and safer life began. Windsormeade has afforded my parents the liberty to "do their own thing" while engaging in community activities, and a place for me visit on vacation and not worry about their well being. However, I have to make reservations in advance, as my parents have a full life of their own and need to fit me in! I am thrilled they chose a living environment in which to spend their continued retirement. The residents and facilities at Windsormeade are easy to get to know, especially the social environment of the Bistro. I am grateful to God that my parents chose Windsormeade as their continue living home base and assisted living option.

The staff at Windsormeade is very helpful. We stayed overnight. The size of the units and the accommodations are very nice. The rooms are very clean and very nice. It's fully equipped with a pool and tennis courts. Everything is there. It's a full community. One of the only problems is that it is expensive.

If I could afford Windsormeade of Williamsburg, I would have moved right there. It's a gorgeous place. They are close to hospitals. They are associated with all kinds of medical things and to me, that is important. Everything is very high quality. They had us overnight in one of houses and, "Oh, my God, it was beautiful". The apartments are large. The whole place is very, very high quality. They have all kinds of programs and they have shops. They have places were you could go and paint. They had cooking classes and what I like also, is that I could select to cook my own meals. But if you decide to go and have a dinner one night in the dining room, you can. Their dining room is superb. I wish I had a million dollars because if I did, I would have moved over there.

Windsormeade of Williamsburg is an incredible facility. If I could pick a facility, I would choose this place. It's a clear 5-star and the place is spotless and beautifully landscaped. The individual cottages were very attractive and spacious. The food was excellent and their dining area is very attractive. The staff who accommodated us was very nice and very friendly and she was able to give us a first class tour in the facility. She was very knowledgeable too. They have different things were the residents could participate in. They also have bus trips where they go to different places. They also have swimming pool, libraries and all sorts of clubs. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Windsormeade was such a heavenly place. My husband and I could definitely live there. The staff was friendly and catered to our questions. The rooms were very large and beautiful. Everything was situated in just one building, so one doesn't need to go out.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

WindsorMeade has been wonderful for my father and whole family. My dad moved into WindsorMeade last July and believe me when I say that it was life-changing! He is one of those folks who wandered. Unless you have lived it, you have no idea how terrifying it is to have someone missing. My father has frontal and temporal dementia and my mom has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The folks at WM not only know how to redirect my dad in a loving way, but also welcome my mom who visits twice and day and has lunch and dinner with my dad. My sister and I believe that my mom will be moving there also by the end of the summer and are overjoyed! The folks there are so helpful when I have questions, they call me to keep me in the loop for any changes or needs my dad has. I am there frequently and feel like these folks are not only wonderful caregivers to my folks, they are my friends.
