Assisted Living Reviews for Edgeworth Park at New Town

November 27, 2017

By Paul

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Edgeworth Park at New Town is excellent. So far, the staff members are very friendly, cooperative, and very responsive. I have no complaints. The food and the dining area are both very good. They've got several different types of activities. My father-in-law goes to an exercise class periodically. They had a family get-together a couple of weeks ago where they invited all the families in to sit down and have dinner with all the residents. It was done very nicely. They had some kind of a cooking class the other day that my wife went to. They had some entertainment and a singer come in. The one time I ate there it was excellent.

I visited this facility

Edgeworth Park at New Town was like a high-end hotel. It was very comfortable and everyone was very welcoming. They had a nice lounge area and there's a concierge that greeted us, had us sign in, and was able to get the people we needed for the tour. They were all very friendly and very helpful. I watched a lot of interaction with the other residents and I was very pleased with just the general gentleness of the people. The meal was very good and my parents were very pleased with the options that they had. Everything was very tasty.

I visited this facility

Edgeworth was very good, and the atmosphere was a little bit different. It was more apartment- or downtown-like, not as small or intimate as the place we chose. I found some flaws in Edgeworth’s planning. They had a lovely sunroom with all glass, but even though it is going to be air conditioned for the summertime, to me it would feel like a hot-house in 95-degree temperature. My husband’s condition makes him more confused in spaces that have a lot of mirrors, different types of textures, and high ceiling. To me, the community room looked more like a high school cafeteria. It’s a large space with high ceiling and lots of room, but it was not conducive to someone who would be afraid to move around in a space like that. They were serving the food in a way that the residents could choose, like a cafeteria line. I don’t think that my husband could do that very well. It didn’t seem comfortable for someone with dementia. They have carpeting on the floor of the residents’ rooms and I think that would not be very healthy because not only could the resident have a spill or accident, but other residents also walk in and out. I don’t think the carpet would stay nice for long in a situation like that. I know they said they have excellent cleaning.
