My mother-in-law was at Coliseum Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center. They had activities planned for their residents, but I think there was a lot of inconsistency in the care (as far as the nurses not being on the same page). There were some good nurses (like there always is), and then there were those that just did the job and didn't really care. As far as the physician's assistant that was on, she did a good job communicating with me. They're also a little understaffed.

My mother-in-law is at Coliseum Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center. It has been OK. I like the assistant administrator. I only talked to the administrator one time and she was very quick to return my call and answer my questions. The assistant administrator is a little bit more hands-on. She responds to all of my questions and concerns in a very timely manner. The facility itself is not as nice from where she came from, but I have a feeling that most skilled nursing are not as nice as the assisted living places, and I guess that is just the way it is. I am not saying it is a bad thing, I am just saying it is not as nice. I know that if she is left to her own devices she does not eat very much. I've been told that the staff comes in and feed her sometimes. I believe that she is very weak. She's always been a picky eater, and she has never eaten very much, but the food is not that great. It's not something that you would want to keep shoveling in, but it is not saying it is a bad thing. I just have never seen really good food in any skilled nursing care place. It is probably the same everywhere. She might take one to two bites and she'll be done. She is sharing her room. She had a nicer room because she was in there by herself at first, because she was in isolation. They gave her the bed by the window, and it was down the hallway, and it was somewhat quiet. They wanted her to have a roommate when she could come out of isolation, and they moved her to the main hallway where everybody walks up and down. It is the hallway that the nursing station is on, and it is very noisy and congested. The roommate that they wanted to put her in with was a woman similar who was very quiet and did not talk much. She did not last very long; I believe she died only after a couple of days. She got a new roommate, and I am just talking, I mean there all kinds of people out there, but she is a bit of a busybody. So, busybody's over in my mother-in-law's area wanting to do stuff, and she likes to be left alone. Plus, she did not get the bed by the window, so she is there by the doorway, and it is like Grand Central Station. She would rather be on the beaten path down the hallway where not much action is going on, so I was kind of upset that they did not move her. I think they moved her for a good reason, but it did not pan out. The place is landscaped, and manicured, and there really is not that much to it. I can say that I do not have any cleanliness concerns at all; it seems to be very clean. The staff there is always very pleasant and nice to me, and they do their best to return my calls in a timely manner. It is just not easy to reach them. I always have to leave a message, you just can't call and talk to somebody. I don't know if that is typical because I don't have a lot of experience with skilled nursing care. This is the first time that I have a family member in that I am responsible for where I have to deal with it. They do call me back. They are very friendly, very nice, and polite to me. They answer my questions, and they try to accommodate anything that I ask for. I am so old school, I don't go on the computer and look up stuff. I am so used to picking up the telephone and calling and talking to a real person. I don't see anything wrong with the facility at all. It is clean and does not have any offensive smell. Everybody appears to be busy, and they don't have things falling off the walls or anything like that. Everything is in its place and is there. I guess I am just used to five-star hotels, and this is just probably more like a three-star accommodation, but everybody there is very nice, and it is clean. It is well cared for. They are very adequate, they're in good shape, there is nothing wrong with them, they just don't have beautiful artworks.

The food is horrible the staff is always understaffed so not enough staff to patient ratio. Patients don’t get proper care in a timely fashion. They have old air condition and heaters, roaches coming out of the walls and ceilings, ants crawling on patients while they sleep. All around horrible environment and would never send my family to a place like this.

This facility is very clean. The staff are very helpful and really helped my family and I through a tough time. My mom stayed at this facility for about six years before her passing and they treated her amazing, as far as I know. They kept mom busy. She always had her nails and hair done-- Things they offer in the facility. They took her on trips and kept her in good spirits. The rooms are big and they have tv's.
