I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend is a resident of Mt. Ogden Health & Rehabilitation Center. The facility is nice but the turnover is crazy. It happened that she pushed a call button and it would take up to 3 to 4 hours for somebody to come in because they are understaffed. She's in a private room and the only patient in that room. The room where there were two patients was too small for two people. They have bingo. I sampled their food during Thanksgiving. They also had dinner for families. The Thanksgiving food wasn't bad but my friend said a lot of times the food is awful.

The social worker employed here is a freaking joke she threatens you with legal action if you try to remove your relatives I have a relative there that I'm currently trying to get out and she's pulling every trick she can to keep me from getting my relative out of there and put her in a facility in her home state of South Carolina it looks like I'm going to have to get an attorney or something this is ridiculous

If you want good care for a loved one…go someplace else!!! This place is awful. When I first got here it took 21 days for me to get a shower. I had to tell an aide you’re coming with me to shower. This isn’t a new thing. You’re supposed to get a shower 3x a week. You’re lucky if you get 1 or 2. Either someone is too busy or too lazy to let you shower. Sometimes no one comes for like 45 min. when you push the call light. I’ve had to sit in wet/dirty briefs for times up to 3 hrs. No lie!! Don’t get me started on the kitchen!! They mess up my meals every time we eat! There’s been times where something looks disgusting & I order something else & the kitchen says they’re out of what I’m asking for because they’re too lazy to make it or they want to go home. This is great…I’m here for be malnutrition. They wonder why I’m not gaining weight. Duh! Can’t gain weight if you don’t eat. Some of the nurses are better than others. You don’t get your night meds until 10-11:30 when you should get them by 8. Some aides are better than others. If you have 1/2 a brain it doesn’t take long to figure out which aide falls into which category. Management is just as bad. Your complaints don’t get resolved. You just get more lies. The only good thing about here is a couple of the physical therapists. But weighing pros & cons, best you can do is find your loved one a different place to go. Especially if they need long term care. I am not kidding about this place. I’ve been here about 3 months & I’m looking for someplace else to go where you aren’t getting lied to, a bunch of lazy workers & nasty, filthy, disgusting neighbors who totally destroy the bathroom (4 people share a restroom) with no courtesy for your neighbor. Cannot WAIT to go somewhere, anywhere else.

The staff seem very helpful BUT the leadership is seriously lacking. They are short on staffing, like many businesses are dealing with, but the leadership apparently can’t LEAD the staff they have. My mother has been there for 6+ months. She has suffered numerous UTIs due to a lack of daily cleaning of her catheter, and she’s been diagnosed as seriously dehydrated numerous times. Many times during my daily visits I notice she has no water, and I’ve spoken to the Director, “chief nurse”, and staff numerous times about something that should be so basic. DO NOT entrust your loved one here until the leadership is CHANGED.

Some of the 2-10pm staff are incompetent, lazy, they disappear from the floor, they don't show up for work or are late, don't get showers done, and the supervisor of them leaves work without arranging coverage. The supervisor of the aides is just as bad as his lazy aides, he doesn't properly schedule showers, coverage, or start time. He is more incompetent then his aides.

I haven't found anything that I don't like about Mt. Ogden Health and Rehab Center. So far we've been 100% satisfied. We really like that they are so responsive. I rarely have to have anyone call me back. Usually when I call, I get right to the person that I need to talk to and they take as much time as they need to take with us. I've never been inside, but outside it's all very clean. The windows are clean, the grounds are clean and everything, including the parking lot, looks really good there.

I recently had a family member stay at this facility. We were definitely not impressed by the nurses here. We found out hat they weren’t giving him his medication as prescribed by the doctor which caused him a lot more pain and suffering than he needed to go through. Whenever we asked for help getting him to the bathroom or things like that it would take 45+ minutes to get help. They recently decided to close their facility to visitors and I feel the situation was gandered very poorly. We weren’t given any notice and one nurse in particular was very rude about it. We were told we can only come back and see our family member “on the day he dies”. I hate to think about what else happened that we don’t know about, as my family member that was here wasn’t able to speak for himself. We have felt so much relief after getting him out of there, I wouldn’t wish this treatment on anyone. To already be going through such a difficult time and then to be treated the way we were was awful.

I visited this facility

I liked Mt. Ogden Rehab, it was a bit newer, the rooms were spacious, and the price was really good for long term care. It has a homey atmosphere; when you walk in, they offer popcorn and cookies. There were couches, and the staff was very friendly. They have a really nice set up in as far as their kitchen and dining room area.

This place was horrid. My father had to stay for two weeks to rehab from pneumonia. He had to go straight to hospice from there. The hospice nurses were appalled by how neglected he had been at Mt Ogden. If you love your family, do not take them to this place. They are just awful!!!

My dad stayed at Mt. Ogden Health and Rehab Center for about a month. I liked it because it was near my place, but it wasn't really that spacious. When my father had a stroke and had to leave the hospital, he went to Mt. Ogden where they started his rehab and got him up and walking. In that month, they had a lot of improvement. I thought the staff was good, and they kept the place clean.

I am a friend or relative of resident

This facility has ruined my mother's life!!! We were told that my mother was no longer going to be able to live by herself and that she would be a resident of Mt. Ogden Health and Rehab or at the best Assisted Living! We were instructed by the Business office and Social Work Department to immediately get rid of my mother's assets, including her home and any income or credit card debt that she had. Basically ruining her good credit history. We were forced to turn her house back to the bank in order to have her approved for Medicaid. Now they are kicking her out after insisting they can no longer keep her because she is no longer in need of any of their long term nursing care services. She cannot even go into assisted living because Medicaid is frozen until July!! My mother has no where to go and these people at Ogden Health and Rehab stated over and over that she would never be on the street. Shame on them!!!

I have really appreciated the staff. There are a couple that have been outstanding but I don't remember names. Eric and Thomas are RNs, and most of the CNAs have been very exemplary in their work. When I call and ask questions, they are good at giving me information.
