I visited this facility

Summerfield Retirement was just a little bit old fashioned and a little bit dated. I know they've been around a while. The cleanliness seemed to be good. It was a little bit awkward at first because apparently nobody told the person in charge that we were coming. They were a little miffed about it. Other than that, it was fine. They were eventually helpful and friendly. The dining area was elegant. The best thing and the reason we went there was the beautiful pond at the back in the gardens. It was really lovely. It was just brimming with beautiful waterlilies, fish, and everything. It was very, very picturesque. It would be a very nice feature to be able to escape to, if you were living there.

I visited this facility

I toured Summerfield Retirement. It's one big building, but the levels of care are separated. I looked at three different apartments. They have a nice courtyard. It's got a pond, trees, and a walking area. It was nice that they had covered parking. The unit itself has a full kitchen. It has a nice kitchen with a microwave and a stove. It was nice that their laundry facilities were in the closet right in your own apartment. They have a barbershop where you can get your hair cut. They have high-speed internet in all the rooms. It was sort of nice that if you have a problem, it's right across the street from Timpanogos Hospital. It's very convenient for shopping. You don't even have to cross the main street, you could walk down very easily to a big grocery store, a bunch of shops, fast food places, and stuff like that. The one thing I like about that one the most was it's only two blocks to get onto the freeway. Right now, I'm independent, but the nice thing that would be about it is if you got to the point where you had to be in assisted living, you wouldn't have to move out of the building. The person who gave me the tour was the owner. They have been nice. I like their garden area, too.

I went to look at Summerfield Retirement. The faculty was awesome. The food was more catered to an older crowd, and what we had was delicious. They have a physical therapy room, a hair salon, a little soda bar, an ice cream, raised garden beds for the residents, and a couple of really nice patio areas just for sitting. Convenience-wise, it is maybe a mile away from a major freeway.

Summerfield Retirement is very nice. It's very elegant, clean, and accessible. My mom has been there for a couple of years now. She was thinking that she might want to move closer to one of her daughters; but she's decided that she likes it, so she's staying there. The staff is excellent. Her room is very, very nice. It's a large two-bedroom apartment. The dining area is very nice and very elegant too. The food is wonderful. Then they have crafts. There are people that come in and do musical shows for them and church services. They have quite a few activities like that.

We found Summerfield Retirement for my parents. It is just a medium-sized community, so I feel like it's more personal. It's very clean. They have activities every day, and the food is cooked on site. It is all one story, so no stairs. It has two wings, and the rooms were down on each side. The central area is the dining and the activity room. My parents have said the food is all very good. The staff is extremely friendly and very responsive. They notify me if there's any problem very quickly. They were painting for an activity. My parents have been there for three months now. I think they're reasonably priced. Currently, they're independent because my mom's husband is with her and takes care of her, so he is doing the assisting.

My mother-in-law will move into Summerfield Retirement in a week. We chose it because the apartments are larger and nicer than any of the other places we looked at. The staff we met with were really helpful and friendly, so we like them a lot. They have an exercise area, a salon where they do haircuts and colors, and a dining area.

It’s very unfortunate that people pay several thousands of dollars of their hard earned life savings each month to live here only to get to the end of their 90+ year old life and are not allowed to say goodbye to the people they raised and influenced. What a shame. They are to die alone at Summerfield. The staff including the Director seems to have connections with a higher power and they like to predict when people will die, and if they feel it’s not their time to pass, they will make you wait until your loved one is in either in a coma or possibly passed before you can see them. Even then, they may tell you to come say your final goodbye and then make you stand in the cold while changing their policy. Trust me the ever changing policy will not be in your favor. There is absolutely No compassion or empathy. They make up rules and do not communicate with family or staff. The rules are not clearly defined or written. If you want your loved one to die alone this is probably the best place for them to be. Very very disappointing!

I looked at both the assisted living and independent living of Summerfield Retirement. It was really nice and there were some features on the independent side that I was really impressed with, like the emergency cords. The other communities didn't have that and it was much nicer. We had a one-one-tour, she explained everything, sat down with me, and showed me numbers. I just thought they were really thoughtful in the way they showed people around, and I thought it was really great. I thought they had a nice dining area in the assisted area, as well as an all day snack bar area where the residents can get food if they need it. They have in-house church services.

Summerfield Retirement was nice. It was clean, a little lower grade than the others, but the independent living was good. They have covered parking for the people who bring cars. It didn’t seem quite as friendly, and I didn’t get the feeling that they would have much interaction with other people. The staff was nice, but not quite as friendly as the others. I didn’t observe any activities, but they had an activity sheet available showing what they had going on. Everybody was in their apartments, and there was no intermingling going on. The dining area was quite small.

Summerfield Retirement provides the assisted living that my wife needs, healthcare, meals, and everything else, and it's been very good. They have many activities for them. They have people coming in providing music or concerts. If she's feeling well, she can participate in some of them. The food is very good. She receives a menu for each week and she can select the food she would like. They also have larger rooms for people who can take care of themselves. The staff has been very helpful and they respond to her needs right away. She has a small kitchen area where she has a refrigerator, a microwave oven, a sink, and closets for clothing. Her apartment is a large area, which is a combination of a living room and bedroom area, and a separate bathroom with a shower. She hasn't complained about the food.

We moved into Summerfield, and we liked it. The staff is very helpful and efficient, and the people were very friendly. They have activities, they have it well planned, and they have Bingo and movies.

Summerfield was smaller but still very nice. The staff was helpful and willing to try and make it possible for my mother to come there. One room we saw was extra large, very nice, and had two segments, so it wasn’t just one room. They wanted my mother to be in a room that was closer to the nurses’ station in case she were to need any extra help. That room was smaller, but it was nice and clean.

I would recommend Summerfield Manor & Retirement Community. The apartment was the roomiest that I've seen. They offer the most independence of retirement and also offered an option to have an assisted living and all levels of support necessary before passing away. They are across the street from a hospital, so I couldn't get any closer to emergency medical attention that being across the street.

The staff is kind and caring, and the place is very well kept, but my mothers lives there and the food is awful. She never stops complaining about it.

This is a nice facility, a lot of windows and natural light. I like the activity list and the staff seem to really care about the patients. However, during my visit, it seemed to me that a lot of the residents were just meandering along and the staff weren't paying a lot of attention to them. Now this might normally be just fine. The residents don't have to have every second of their day planned out, but when I looked into the activity room and found the television droning on in the middle of the day during both my visits, it seemed a little concerning. I think that maybe the staff could try to encourage the residents to participate more in the activities.

My grandfather has been here for over three years now. The faculty is very kind and my grandfather is content with his room and his surroundings. That may not be saying much since he has sever Alzeimer's and doesn't know all the time where he is. My complaint about this place is how many times my grandfather is simply walked out without anyone noticing. Once my grandfather walked out the front door and literally walked the five-ten miles back home and they did not notice that he was missing.
