I visited this facility

Apple Village Assisted Living had a gorgeous view, but there wasn't anything else I liked about it. Not all the rooms have that view, they show you the rooms that have the view, that's a couple hundred more for the rooms with the view. The theater area was nice, but the tour was not detailed and thorough. They give you a packet and walk you around a little bit. It was extremely expensive. I was concerned about the security issues.

Apple Village was a very nice community. The staff was very knowledgeable. The building was well kept, and it looked nice. The layout was fine. They had a hair salon, a dining area, and a big TV room. They were very clean and well kept.

We visited Apple Village Assisted Living in Layton, and we felt it was a nice place. It looked clean and inviting. We didn't spend a lot of time there, but we asked around, and the people who we met were very nice, and they had big smiles on their faces. (This was before COVID.) They were very welcoming and willing to answer our questions. I thought that was a positive. However, the place did not seem as open and as welcoming as the other place we visited.

The lady who helped us at Apple Village was very nice. The memory side was skinny and dark. The room that they showed us didn't have a window in it, and it was not clean. One of the workers when we were walking around didn't even say anything to us. I didn't like that place. The dining area in the assisted living part seemed really nice, but I didn't like the one in the memory care. I didn't like anything about it. The people were smelly. It wasn't a friendly place, and it was not clean.

Apple Village Assisted Living was really a great place. It has the most beautiful view of the valley and the mountains. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The residents seemed really happy to be there. As you walk down the halls it gives you the feeling of being outside because they have a lot of artificial trees. It makes you feel like you're out in the garden.

Provider Response

Thank you for visiting our community! Just want to point out the trees and plants that are throughout the facility are real! We like to say “we bring the outdoors in!” I hope you got to see the birds and turtles as well. We’re glad you had a great experience. Hope to see you again soon.

Apple Village was middle-of-the-road friendly, and it seemed to be a good environment. The rooms looked fine. They had some recreational rooms. They also had some crafts going on. They had some outing scheduled, too. Apple Village didn't look like a hospital, so that was a good thing. They had handrails on the corridors that were built into the walls so it was less obvious, but they were there if people needed it. There were lots of skylights and some vegetation growing in some of the hallways. They had some water feature inside, too.

We really liked Apple Village. The staff members were nice. However, when we were there when they were serving lunch, there was a line of a people. You have to be there at 12 or you miss your meal. Many of the rooms had no view whatsoever. There was one row that had a beautiful view but all the other rooms either looked at a wall or at the main highway. The room choices and having a view out your window was pretty limited.

Provider Response

Hello Dave~ Thank you for visiting and touring our facility. As always we want your experience to be great. Our residents are served at their table. Lunch is not over until everyone has received a plate. They are never rushed. The view from our rooms vary depending on the hall. Many of them have a view of Hobbs pond, the mountains, and the valley. We are known for our beautiful views. Please let us know if you have any more questions or concerns. Again, thank you for visiting our facility. Marsha Martin Marketing and Sales

I visited Apple Village, and they had all kinds of things going on for people there. They bring people in to entertain quite often, and it seemed to have a lot more accommodations for Mom's level of care. They hved exercise groups, they work on puzzles, they go outside, and some do gardening. The staff members help with bathing assistance depending on the level, and they manage the medications. They were very friendly, and you could tell there was a lot of camaraderie between the staff and the residents.

I liked the views at Apple Village. There were different courtyards in between the rooms and they had trees inside. I liked the setup of the large common room, and the dining room looked nice too. The 1-bedroom I saw had plenty of room, with a nice wheelchair accessible bathroom.

Provider Response

Thanks for coming to see us Shayna! We enjoyed showing you around. Our residents love our indoor plants and trees too :) Come back and see us again soon!

Apple Village was nice. The staff seemed to be excellent. They had a full schedule of activities. I would have liked to see more of a walking area for the residents who can assist themselves.

Apple Village seemed nice, pretty small, and OK. They had been doing some renovations, and the pricing was nice. We only tried the cornmeal muffin, but it looked like they had pretty good food and offered pretty good activities. They didn’t have many amenities. They had a nice dining room setup.

Apple Village Assisted Living looks a little bit older, and a little more rundown. The memory care unit is quite small. Everyone at the facility was very helpful.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I chose Apple Village for the atmosphere, the way it was decorated, and its proximity to my home. It seems like a little town instead of a hotel. It’s smaller, has a spectacular view of the mountains, reservoir, and the trees. The dining setup is great, they have a beautiful dining room, and my parents are very happy with the food. They have crafts, bingo, exercise, outings, choir, and parties.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We have my mother-in-law in a facility at Apple Village. She is on a minimal assist, so they don't do an awful lot for her, but we anticipate them being able to help her more as her dementia gets worse. They offer various things, but my mother-in-law is not much of a joiner. They offer a lot of different kinds of activities. However, she does like to go on their trips. They have a van. They went out on shopping trips. The dining room was absolutely gorgeous. They have different sizes and different prices. Her room is beautiful. It has a balcony. It is beautiful. Overall, they're great!

Friend or relative of resident

My grandfather lived at this facility for about a year and it was great. The staff was very friendly and they really interact well with the patients. What I really liked about the staff is that they would really sit down with my grandfather and talk to him when he just wanted to talk, they would really work hard on being his friend, not just a nurse that is there to make sure he takes his medicine and cares for himself. The facility was very clean and organized. They had alot of great events at the facility for people to participate in like games and even bus tours of local attractions and other things. They were really good about getting Grandpa to do some daily exercise and to make sure he was eating nutritious meals. The rooms at Apple Village are very large and they really feel more like an apartment than just a room. They are considered a Level 1 facility but do have a Level 2 unit which locks down to prevent people from wandering and getting lost. Grandpa moved to the Level 2 and you would just use a code to go in and out of the area where he was. It was really great knowing that he was safe and wouldn't accidently wander away when people weren't watching.
