My mother and my sister have moved into Holiday Lakeshore Estates. So far, everything's been great. The activities are great. The people have been good. The staff has been wonderful. I don't have any complaints at all. The rooms, I understand there's supposed to be an update come February. We've been hearing that for a long time now. It'd be nice if the rooms could be updated some, especially in the bathroom. Other than that, it's fine. I've eaten there a couple of times. There are some things they like, and some things they don't like, but there's a wide variety. The chef came out and introduced himself. I was very impressed. As far as I'm concerned, the food has been really good. I feel like the place needs to be updated. The carpeting and the painting and that sort of thing needs to be updated. I think they're trying hard with what they've got.

Holiday Lakeshore Estates showed us around and even allowed us to look at some rooms. The facility was nice. It's a little older community, I believe, from what I saw in the rooms and everything. The director who took us around also talked about how busy they were doing repairs and painting on the outside because it had been there a long time, but overall, that's the place I would love to put my mom in. When we got there, people were starting to gather together to play a game. They watch movies there too, and they have a library. You're even given a large kitchen if you want to do extra cooking or baking because the rooms that they showed us only have a tiny little area for you to do it. It only had a microwave and a very tiny refrigerator. So, they provided a lot that my mom needed. The director was very polite and very nice to talk to. She went out of her way.

Holiday Lakeshore Estates was nice. It's in a nice location. I saw a gym and everything. I had seen a lot of activities that people planned. They had volleyball but it was with a balloon. I had seen one- and two-bedrooms, and both were nice. I rather have the one that was downstairs, which was a one-bedroom. It seemed a little bit more like home type living. The food was excellent. It was well seasoned. It was like a five-star restaurant. The outdoor space was nice, too. The area was well kept up. I like the facility. The tour was excellent.

We were not impressed with Holiday Lakeshore Estates. It smelled and they talked about redoing it and everything, but the moment we walked in, I was turned off because they had the elderly doing activities right there in the open area. I just didn't think it wasn't private enough. They allow pets and you could tell, it smelled like a pet, and I can't do it. The woman that showed us around was very nice, but when we walked in there, we weren't greeted very well. It was very unfriendly. The whole feel of it was cold. I just didn't like it. It was way overpriced with extra fees. They weren't even engaging and it wasn't lively. You have crappy staff, a crappy place , and I feel like the staff isn't up to par. They need to work on it.

I visited Holiday by Atria Lakeshore Estates, and I really liked it. It seemed very open and friendly. It seemed that everybody got along there. It's very nice. The staff members were very friendly and willing to help meet your needs. They get things done, and they were very nice. The room they showed me was very nice, and it's the perfect size for me. The biggest thing is that they keep the staff active. They play bingo. They have all kinds of activities, movies, and things like that. I liked the overall tour experience.

I have visited Lakeshore Estates. The layout is perfect for what I was looking for, the cleanliness is as good or better than what I could do. I had lunch there as a guest, and it was very good, I had the fish and you get to pick which vegetables you want. In addition, the lady that showed me around, her name was Darla. She was very knowledgeable about the facility, and she showed me three or four different apartments. The first floor has a little grass area and I would have liked to have had that, but that was just a little bit out of my budget. And then she showed me one on another floor and it was perfect. They give you a short lease to begin with, which is three months. And that's perfect also, because if you learned that it's not exactly what you wanted, you'll know in three months, and perhaps you can find another facility. So it was very good. I asked about the security and she told me they have doors that open automatically to the outside from the first floor, but they're locked at 6:00. Your keys can get you in, but without the key, you can't get into anything. There are people that I talked to there, I sat at their table, and they all said that they were happy there. It's independent living so you can come and go as you please. They furnish your sheets and towels, and they wash those also and return them. They make your bed, they clean your apartment and your bathroom changer. There's a laundry on each floor. I needed more room and I'm getting a new wheelchair, and I'll be able to work the aisles there. So I was pleased to have found it. The staff was very, very friendly. The lady that helped us at the table at lunch treated me as if I had been there forever. They're very nice. They have a library, and a game room and they have rooms for just about everything, they also have a hair salon and barber shop and they have transportation. Once a week they go shopping, and whenever you have to go to the doctor they'll take you.

We went to Lakeshore Estates. The people were very accommodating, nice, and friendly. They showed us several places that were going to be available,.The places themselves seemed nice, and the residents there looked like they were enjoying living there. There was nothing negative. I think it would be a place for an outgoing kind of person. The woman who was giving us the tour said, "We try to make it like a cruise ship." It really was kind of that way. There were a lot of public areas that were nice and and all that.

The tour at Lakeshore Estates is very nice, and we got a fully guided tour. They showed us their dining room, their puzzles, and gaming area. We got a tour of one of the apartments. it was a fully furnished one to represent how much you could fit in the space as far as furniture goes. Then they explained about the meals. They have a life alert button. If somebody fell, they could just push their button to get assistance right away. Overall, it seems like a really nice facility. I'm not sure if it meets our needs, but they're more independent and would be a wonderful match. I met a few of the staff, and they all seemed really nice.

I visited this facility

I talked to someone at Lakeshore Estates; she was a little bit rattled. There were a lot of things that were going on during the time that she was trying to tour the facility. I felt like that would be just like a hotel that served meals. I didn't get that they would do a lot more than that. My mom would probably not work out in a facility that big. I think that would be more for people that are still going and going at their age, and my mom is already past that. So that would be more of a retirement home. It's a place where you can live and they pay your utilities, phone, and cable and provide you food. And you do everything else. You can come and go as you please, people come and go as they please, they come in and come out. So it's not regulated that much. It's more like an apartment building for seniors. It's more independent living than assisted living. It may overwhelm some people that are needing assisted living to be able to get down to the dining hall, and stuff like that, because it was just huge. When I first met the staff who gave the tour, she seemed a little bit overwhelmed. Then she got a call during the time that I was sitting there. And it was some of her staff members that were out trying to buy groceries or items for the place, and their company credit card wouldn't work. So she had to scramble to get somebody over there to pay for their items because the company credit card wasn't working. They should have kept that a little bit more private because that was a turnoff to me. It almost looked like they had financial problems. It just didn't seem managed well. When you walk in, it's really pretty and the grounds are pretty. But the rooms themselves were not kept in good shape. The bathrooms need to be handicap accessible for retirement. She just said they have some with that and some without.

Provider Response

Hi Cyndi, thank you for taking the time to rate and leave a review, and for sharing your experience. We're sorry to hear that Lakeshore Estates isn't quite what you and your mother are looking for. You are correct in that it's more independent living than assisted living, however our residents are able to speak to staff about any specific needs or requests for assistance that might be necessary. We're proud to have a staff that works extremely hard to keep the community running smoothly, and we understand if the person helping you seemed overwhelmed. She was undoubtedly busy, and surely didn't intend to be off-putting. We really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review, and we will take your feedback seriously as we are always trying to improve our services.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have chosen Lakeshore Estates. It has everything I need. They have all sorts of things going on. They have meals. They have rooms where you can go visit. They have rooms where you can watch movies, and they have rooms where you do exercise. They have lots of different things going on. The room was a nice arrangement and very clean. I saw the dining area. It was downstairs and they had it all set up; people were down there eating. They said they would even bring it to your room if you wanted them to. The staff has been very nice and very helpful. My son and daughter-in-law have been talking to them for a while, and they got her mother and dad moved there yesterday. They're like right across the driveway from where I am, so we'll all be there together. They don't have garage. They just have covered parking.

My parents moved into the Lakeshore Estates. I like it very much, it's gonna take time to get them settled in, but I think it's gonna be a very good place. They had a concert yesterday. They don't get to provide very much right now because of COVID, but they also have a bus, and they take them to different places at a scheduled time. They provide three meals plus two snacks every day. I haven't been able to taste it yet, but it looks pretty good. We are still getting used to each other right now, so i'm not ready to give them a four or a five-star rating. I love their staff.

Provider Response

Hi Terri, thank you for your review. We are delighted to hear that your parents have chosen to call our community home! We look forward to being able to safely introduce more activities and outings for our residents. Our goal is to have happy residents and family members so your feedback is important to us. Thank you

I am/was a resident of this facility

We have been living in Lakeshore Estates for four years now. This place is less expensive, and during the COVID problem, they've pretty well taken care of us. It's a nice place. Their staff is good, but it's constantly changing and nobody stays here very long. We've got a 1-bedroom, and it's good. My wife's in a wheelchair, so they took the carpet out like I asked them to. All bills are paid, they furnish three meals a day, and you get cable TV. The meals are average; they're not the best, but they're edible. Activities are now suspended, but they're good when COVID's not around. We played bingo, pokeno, beanbag baseball, and a lot of other things. It's too expensive, but it's less expensive than the others.

Lakeshore Estates was a nice community, but it's old, and the cottages were small. The staff was very nice, and they provided three meals a day. It was very nicely laid out, and they had the main building and cottages behind it. It's big and clean, and it's a good facility, but it was more for somebody who needed more assistance. It's got big trees and a patio, and they had a fitness center, a full activities calendar, and transportation.

Our visit at Lakeshore Estates was very nice, and the place also looks nice. Everybody was engaged in the activities that they were doing, and they had lots of facilities. We visited with someone we know. The lady we know has been living there for many years and she's very happy there. The staff was very nice. The lady who gives the tours wasn't around that day, so somebody else who normally doesn't do it took us around and she did a good job. The dining area looked very nice, it was big, and open. I think this community is one of the nicest ones we have in the area.

Lakeshore Estates seemed very business like. It's a big place and there were a lot of people there. It's nice and the rooms were nice. There were also people wandering all around. They are connected across the United States. If I'll go on a trip and go into one of the cities that has one of their places, I could stay there for free. There's a library and it has computers. They have a garden, but it's almost not usable, so they need to make that better. The facilities were fine. I just didn't get the feeling that this was where I want to live.

Provider Response

Hi Mary, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us feedback. We are sad to see Lakeshore Estates did not meet your expectations. You experience has been shared with local and regional management. If you have any additional comments for us please do not hesitate to reach out to discuss this further.

I visited Lakeshore Estates and I thought it was nice. The lady that took us around was very accommodating. She gave the impression that there were a lot of activities going on. However, the exercise place was not large, and the places where you meet were not large. The apartments were OK and good. Overall, it was good.

Lakeshore Estates was nice and great. The rooms were nice and well planned out but had an awfully small refrigerator and freezer. There wasn't room in the freezer to put a half gallon of ice cream. They had lots of amenities, like a movie room, crafts room, pool tables, and exercise machines, which is great. I think they're really nice.

Lakeshore Estates was OK when I first came in, but there have been changes in the management causing restlessness among the staff and has caused us to not be staffed to the fullest extent. The food preparation is not quite what it had been. We went about three weeks without housekeeping, and we're supposed to have weekly housekeeping. To me, the staff is OK. They have many games and a bus to take you on trips and to downtown to eat out once a week. There are plenty of activities, but my wife and I go in our own direction most of the time. We have a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment that's adequate for us.

My mother has been in Lakeshore Estates since June, and it all seems to be working quite well. They met our needs and timeframe. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would like to move to Lakeshore Estates. It was a five-star facility. The rooms were spacious and incredible. The food was spectacular. It was like going to a restaurant. They had their own bus that will take people to the store, to the mall, and to wherever they want to go. They had an exercise facility and a TV room. It was like going to the nicest hotel you could go to.

Lakeshore Estates was very nice, very high-class, and expensive facility. It's beautifully kept. The apartments are nice. I looked at both a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom. I had a meal with them, and their cook was fantastic. Three important things: the living area, the food, and the general atmosphere is very good. The rooms were a nice size, and you don't feel cramped in them. It's very spacious. It's a great place. It's just I can't afford it. They had club rooms, a room with a bunch of ladies in it doing handcrafts. I like the general atmosphere and the good food.

I was very impressed with Lakeshore Estate. The rooms were fantastic. The people that I met were very sweet and friendly. They gave attention to individual Alzheimer's patient. The one that was in-charge there had been in contact with me once a week. I liked the fact that they had their own independence because they had their own room, which was like an apartment, but they had a natural place for them to be fed three times a day. They had a laundry room within the same facility. It was kind of like an apartment/hotel. I thought if there was any place that I would put my father, it's would be at Lakeshore.

My mother-in-law has been at Lakeshore Estates for over three years, and so far she is doing okay. It is a great place. They built it for mobile people, so they have staircases that she can really use. They only have one elevator, so people just wait in line for it. People are wonderful and very friendly. Rooms are nice, big enough to move around and have kitchenettes. The one and two bedrooms are big enough for your furniture and be comfortable in there. The food is very good and they give a lot of good options. They have Bingo three or four times a week, card games and movie nights. They have music groups and country western bands come in and out twice a week at least. They have pianos that play while residents eat two or three times a week. They have a seminar almost every Saturday that has something to do with aging. They keep them pretty busy.

We chose Lakeshore Estate because our doctors are in Waco. They have a free shuttle that will take you to the doctor and hospital. Their food is delicious and we had eaten there three times. Everybody is so friendly. It's a really nice facility. The apartment that we are getting is a one bedroom and it has a balcony. It has a living room and a kitchenette. They have a lot of closet space and a bathroom with toolbars in the tub to hold on. Most of it is carpeted. I think we will be very happy there. The dining hall is restaurant style and you have a choice of two different main courses. Everything is just very nice. They have an exercise room, a computer room, TV room with large screen TV where they had movies and popcorn once a week, and a get together room. It sounds like we are going to enjoy being there. We were also allowed to take in our cat and that was a definite plus.

This facility offers transportation to and from various locations and activities, around town. However, they have so much to offer right on the grounds the transportation may not always be necessary. This facility offers on site beauty and barber shops. Not only is this a needed service for its residents, its a great way to get to know people. Everyone knows lasting friendships are made in the beauty and barber shops of our lives. Also, an on-site billards room, a library and a TV lounge give the residents excellent opportunities to not only live here, but to actually join the community and meet their neighbors and share activities.
