Landon Ridge Sugar Land Assisted Living and Memory Care, on the surface level, looked okay. The person who toured us was not engaging enough. She did not ask enough questions, and they did not seem to have a level of care for my mother. The tour was quick and dirty. We smelled some odors while we were touring. It was a no-go.

I visited this facility

I toured Landon Ridge Sugar Land Assisted Living and Memory Care. I saw a two-bedroom, but it had carpeting in it, and the carpeting had a very strong chemical smell. I think that would have been very difficult to get used to. And this was throughout the facility. I had supper there, and it was the largest quantity of food that I had been served in any of these places. The staff who gave us the tour was very nice. They're super accommodating, super polite, and friendly. They went out of their way to help me. It looked very nice, but with this chemical that they put on the carpeting, I would not be able to live there myself. I couldn't handle that smell that they put in the carpeting. But I remember that the dining room was very, very nice, and very comfortable.

My mother-in-law has moved to Landon Ridge Sugar Land Assisted Living and Memory Care. The place is clean, it smells good, the staff is so kind, and the food is good. We're just very impressed. She has a big, huge, open room. She came from another assisted living with a big kitchen and big bedroom, and she was able to move everything from where she came from into this place, and it fit perfectly. They provide the fridge and microwave. The staff that I met were kind and loving. I haven't had a chance to try the food yet, but my mother-in-law is really loving it. They have constant activities, programs, and shuttles, they have everything she needs. They also have a beautiful outdoor space, walkway, and gardens.

We fell in love with the hospitality at Landon Ridge Sugar Land Assisted Living & Memory Care. We were able to sample lunch and we met with the kitchen staff. They treated my mom with a banana split. They had a singer there for the day. From there, we went and did the tour to kind of break the ice. The rooms were super spacious. It was just unexpectedly comforting and very homey. For her first tour, it was like a welcome home type thing. The girl that did the actual tour there was amazing. She welcomed us. When you pull up, it looks like an apartment almost, it does not look like a hospital setting. This was like an actual little community, and it just didn't look like something you would expect for an assisted living to be, which is comforting for somebody that's transitioning to a different lifestyle change like that. The other thing that I want to say about why we decided to entertain this one is because of the point system that they go off regarding cost of the assisted living monthly. They work with you more on your finances, I believe, and so that's helpful. They also allow you to mingle with the residents and the residents were all very, very pleased. That says a lot right there that they're not scared for you to talk to the people. They were all included, and that's comforting, too, because it is scary not knowing where you're going to live and who your neighbors would be. It's close to home, it's really clean, and it's really welcoming, and we like it. The food was good. They gave us a menu to choose from. The chef was amazing. The patient coordinator that works with them, is a whole ball of fire. She kept them going. She was dancing with them in their wheelchairs. It was so touching. It's a perfect fit. There is very minimal turnover. If anything, they add some staff, and they don't take away, which is huge. It says a lot.

Landon Ridge Sugar Land Assisted Living and Memory Care was the first place I visited and it looked like a possibility. It's clean and fresh. My mother-in-law would've liked it. She has an artistic personality and they had painting classes and stuff set up. They had a library, a TV room, painting classes once a week, and some other things going on. It had onsite memory care as well as assisted living. It had small studios as well as one-bedrooms. Everyone was friendly and doing their best to help me set things up for my mother-in-law to have a smooth transition. The food looked good. They had menus and it looked to be a very nice setup. They had an alternate menu for somebody who didn't like the full menu like hamburgers or sandwiches. It was a good location. It's very easy to get to.

My godmother lives in Landon Ridge Sugar Land Assisted Living & Memory Care. It's all on one big block and you can live in a building. The second floor is Alzheimer's care and my dad lived there before he passed away. The first floor is assisted living and you have small apartments there. She lives in their assisted living. She has her meals in the dining room, she goes play bingo, and she goes out and does crafts. I know she does things even though she's 95 years old. She has a one-bedroom, dining room, living room, and kitchen area. It's like a one-bedroom apartment, but it's an open apartment. They come in and clean once or twice a week. They assist with her showers and things like that. It's kept very nice. She's not a picky eater. She enjoys the food that's there. She does not cook for herself. Sometimes her daughter comes over and brings food and they'll have a meal in the room, so they can visit longer and more casually by doing it like that. They have crafts, a reading room, worship services, and bible study. The staff is awesome. It's a beautiful facility. It's so welcoming when you come in. When you walked in the door, you just feel like you just came home. You come into a library and everyone that works here stops and tells you, "Hello, how are you doing?" It's not phony. It's a truly sincere, "How are you doing? How are you?" and they're truly interested in how you are and who you are. If you are living there, they know your family. They recognize that you're somebody's daughter. They may say, "He's not having a good day today. It's a good thing you came because I think he's not just feeling up to par. He'll be glad to see you." She's very happy there. She needed to be closer to some family members and she needed to have a little more assistance and help and this is a place that could give it to her, so that's what she did.

My family member has lived at this facility for almost 2 years. Sadly the quality of care, communication, and overall management and care of the residents has declined a lot. We are looking for another place and will be moving soon. I'm posting this to help other families in making a difficult decision to find a new, caring home for their loved one. Unfortunately I strongly recommend going elsewhere.

I was very impressed with Landon Ridge Sugar Land. I was impressed when meeting the staff and the physical facility, but it did not meet my mother's needs. It was a very nice physical layout and they seemed to have lots of activities. The rooms were quite nice. The dining area looked quite nice, too. It is a fairly large community. They have 200 plus people there. It is newer and spacious. It is almost too spacious because the rooms are fairly far apart. I did not see any activity rooms so I don't know what daily activities that they have. The atmosphere seems nice. The staff members are quite good and knowledgeable.

My mother picked Landon Ridge Sugar Land, and moved in around 2 weeks ago. The staff is good, and the rooms are small, but clean. They have a library, they have games, transportation, outings, and the things she wants. The food is average. They made it easy to move in, and she is getting the attention she needs.

Landon Ridge was beautiful, everyone was very professional, and the residents seemed to be enjoying themselves. The salesperson was a delight, gave me all the details, and gave me a tour of the different facilities, including what they offer. I liked the environment. They have a lot of amenities, a lot of common spaces, and they have an outdoor area. I liked the layout of the apartments. I was overall extremely pleased. They had bigger and smaller one-bedroom apartments, and studio or efficiency ones, with plenty of closet space, a microwave, and a refrigerator.

My mom is at Landon Ridge. The whole place is lovely. It used to be Sycamore Place. However, they have a need for more employees, that's where we've had some trouble. Now, it seems to be going more smoothly. It's working out much better than we expected. My mom's room is beautiful. It's 2-rooms with a small kitchenette that she doesn't use. There are places where families can meet and talk. They have a popcorn cookie place, a fancy room, an activity room, a music room, and an exercise room. The chef cooks the local cuisine. The staff members who work with my mother are extremely nice, patient, and very sweet. They have lots of activities. My mom cannot see, but they have been able to accommodate and help her, so that's been great. The activities have been fabulous. They have music, of course, and sometimes they have kids come in and do things with them. They have lots of storytelling, which my mom loves. It is called The Treasured Memory. Everybody brings what they want and tells whatever story they want. It is very nice; it's fabulous.

The Sycamores at Sugar Land was a very nice, clean, new community with an excellent layout. They had windows that illuminated the halls, so you don't feel closed in. The service looked very nice, too. The staff was attentive. One of them spoke Spanish, so that's a plus. We were looking for places that have Spanish-speaking staff because Spanish is my mom's first language, and she doesn't remember too much of her English.

I liked everything about The Sycamores at Sugar Land, including the staff and land. However, it catered more to assisted as opposed to independent living. They had a salon, a library, and a game room. The dining area was decent. It was a comfortable community with a beautiful landscape, but it was too expensive and the rooms were too small.

I chose The Sycamores at Sugar Land for my mom. The place is fine and relatively new. She improved somewhat since she moved there. She gets three meals a day and is able to retain her strength. The food was fair and sufficient for her needs. They do play bingo and exercises in the morning. Her room is just right for her; not small nor big.

I liked The Sycamores at Sugar Land a lot, but it was farther away from us, and the rooms weren’t quite as big as the ones in the other facility we saw. I didn’t taste their food, but this community is definitely a very good option. It is a newer Brookdale facility, so it’s well established.

My parents are at The Sycamores at Sugar Land. It’s a convenient location to us and has friendly staff, a lot of social activities, and an excellent dining area. They have a good chef and three meals a day. They could improve on the weekend staffing response time. They secure access at 8:00 in the evening and when we returned with my mom from the hospital at about 8:30, it was kind of a hassle to get back in to get her to her room. I don’t think that should ever happen to somebody that paid that kind of money for a room. They have a system in place with automatic doors, and after 8:00, you push a button and an attendant comes to opens it for you. It so happened the attendant was on break, and we couldn’t get her in; my mother was on a walker and wasn’t very comfortable. That would be my only complaint with the place. We told the manager about it, so I’m sure it will be addressed.

Actually I have been going in there at The Sycamores off and on for the last two and a half months. It is a brand new place that they have been building all last year. They gave several tours where you got to meet staff members. What I liked about it was that they have three different sections to it. They have memory care, assisted living, and skilled nursing. My mother needs skilled nursing, and my dad needs memory care. They can accommodate both of my parents. It is much cheaper, and the facility is so much nicer. They have partnerships with other places in Sugarland that would come in and give people exercise, take them on trip,s and go on walks. They have all kinds of things, and there are lots of activities that they planned. It is very contemporary. It is just a very warm feeling, and I really like working with the staff.

We have chosen one for our mother. It's a new facility called The Sycamores at Sugar Land. They're just finishing it. A lady from Caring.com mentioned it to me. My brother lives in Sugar Land, so he had driven by to see it. We went by there, and we liked it. It is beautiful. There are hotels, restaurants, and lots of medical facilities close by. The rooms are spacious enough. We had a choice of one-bedroom or two-bedroom or just a studio. I know they're going to have exercise and different activities. They got a bus already. In talking to the director, she said they really want to wait and see what the community's interests are. One of the things we liked is that it was new, so everybody coming there would be starting fresh. As we walked around the building, in the entryway, it's got a reception area there. It has some places for you to sit and socialize. The dining area was not seen from that area, so people can have privacy there, away from people walking in. It was a separate room; it's not like anybody can walk in through the front door and see all the residents.
