Landon Ridge at Alamo Ranch was nice, extremely clean, and relatively new. The lady that took care of us was nice. We met other staff members along the way and she introduced us to them. Everybody was friendly. The people in the dining room were very, very friendly. I loved their 2-bedroom apartment. It was like a small house, and I liked it. It felt like home. The layout was nice. It had an updated granite kitchen and a porch to sit outside. They showed us the list of activities. They had a swimming pool, which was fantastic. They had exercise classes, craft classes, and Bible studies. They would take us out to eat, to shop, and to doctor's appointments. While we were there, they were having a happy hour. Everybody was dancing and singing. We had a meal there, and it was very good.

We visited Landon Ridge at Alamo Ranch. I think the community is well-kept. The staff seems to be involved with the residents. The community itself is on the more current status. In other words, it's not really old-looking, and it's updated as far as the furniture, and the surroundings. So I think they've done a good job of keeping it up to date. The staff who gave the tour was very pleasant, very open to answering questions, and spent whatever time we needed to have. So, we didn't feel rushed. They have different clubs. They have activities that people might like, like water aerobics, and bible study. They have different kinds of stretching, and things you would think you would get as far as physical activity. They have a shuttle service that will take you around. But we've talked with somebody and she said she doesn't like the shuttle service because it does a loop. They have happy hours, they have dancing, and games. They've got a full activity list of what they're doing every month, and they publish it every month. So people don't have to worry or wonder what's going on. They can see very clearly what's going on in the next month, or the next time for publication.

My mother-in-law has been at Landon Ridge at Alamo Ranch for a little over a year now. The staff is awesome all the time. They're just very attentive. My husband would call them and say, "I need this and that," and they'll take care of it. They provide all things, like daily meals. They're very good about delivering it to her or packing it up for her. The people there are very kind. The grounds are very well-maintained and beautiful. She has a standard apartment. Some of them have washers/dryers, and some of them don't. She has a refrigerator, a stove, a microwave, and a dishwasher. Dining is just like in a restaurant. We love eating there. It's really good, which is something we did not expect, but I was always waiting for the menu to bring up our favorites. All the time, they have happy hours. They have crafts. They take them on day trips to local areas or museums. They take them grocery shopping on certain days. They offer laundry service and housekeeping. They offer transportation services for doctor's appointments.

I had an in-person tour of Landon Ridge Alamo Ranch. Everything was good. The food was excellent. They provide two meals a day, but they're very substantial. They have everything. They have maid service. You can have a washer and dryer in your apartment. They have a theater, a pool, and four or five libraries. The facility was very clean, and it felt very secure. They do everything that all the other ones do. They do doctor runs and grocery shopping. They provide transportation within a ten-mile radius. The facility was very well laid out. I liked the bathrooms that had a lot of handrails. They had a lot of resting places, like benches along the hallways. The people there seemed to be more mobile.

My friend has moved into Landon Ridge Alamo Ranch. I like the price point, and I like the size of the apartment. It is bigger than the apartment he had. As for activities, he has a lot to choose from there. There's a variety going on all the time. They have group exercise, and then they have scheduled transportation. He doesn't drive, so that's a plus for him. It's clean and sheltered. It's a very safe environment. The staff is very reasonable. They don't seem hurried. They're friendly and patient. I have not tried their food, but he has no problems with it at all. He enjoys it.

Provider Response

Thank you Jo Ann for your review. We seek to serve our residents and provide them with the highest standard of living, so we are incredibly grateful to hear your kind words.

I had an in-person tour of Landon Ridge Alamo Ranch. The upkeep was very clean. They have a lot of open areas for walking and sitting. They have plenty of trees for shade. They also permit the tenants to plant if they like. They have some outings and some fun on-site and off-site activities. The rooms were like a regular apartment, which I appreciated. They were a good size, and you can easily put your furniture in them. They had a library, a craft room, a gym, a salon, a bistro where they had little snacks that you could enjoy, and a pool. The staff members were very pleasant, polite, clean, and friendly. They made sure they had me there for lunch, and it was delicious. I felt like I was eating out at a restaurant. It was a large facility and it felt like you were almost at a resort.

Landon Ridge at Alamo Ranch seemed to meet my mom's needs. Their Food Service Department seemed to have good, nutritious meals. They are hot meals offered three times a day every day, not just during the week. Her apartment seemed to be a good size for her, not too small for a two bedroom. The people there seemed to be happy. We met multiple people on our two to three tours who all were not that friendly to me, but when I had my mom with me, they were very friendly to her, and wanted to talk with her. She had multiple people tell her that they had been living there for several years, and that's honestly what clinched good for me, is that there were people of their own volition or their own accord saying that they had been there for multiple years and they liked it after leaving other places. They seemed to have quite a few activities for her to be involved in. The residents there seemed to interact well with the staff. It seems to be a safe place. So all of those things contributed to our decision, and it was affordable for her. We decided on a small two-bedroom, two-bath apartment. They have multiple layouts, but the two bedrooms do not come open very often. This one happens to be open, and it has a nice view. They have a pool that is heated and covered, or enclosed rather, and she can see the pool from her apartment. She has a balcony that is large enough for her to sit outside with two to three chairs. She has full amenities, a stove, refrigerator, and a dishwasher. We have to provide the washer and dryer, but she has setups for that. I think it's around a thousand square feet. This is closer to where I actually live. This was the best fit for our family and her budget. I feel like they need to repaint their interior, probably put some new carpeting down in their common areas. There's nothing that is glaring, but it definitely needs to have a facelift. Her apartment is fine, but I definitely think that the public areas, the common areas, the hallways, I think those could use a little TLC.

We toured Landon Ridge at Alamo Ranch. The community was luxurious for a reasonable price. There were many, many things to do there, and the facilities were beautiful. The rooms were very spacious and new. The person who showed me around, Rebecca, she was charming, sweet, and yet to the point. They have a beauty salon, manicurist, aerobics, a big gym, workout room, they have a pool with water aerobics, they have a theater and they watch movies there, and they have an arts and crafts room. They gave me a cheesecake and it was good.

Landon Ridge at Alamo Ranch is awesome and we have no complaints. It's newer than other communities, clean, and the food in the cafeteria is good. The staff that helped us including the director, were extremely professional and nice. This community is our top choice.

Watercrest at Alamo Ranch had a good presentation and everything was right, except for the price. The dining area and food were great. I saw a pool, a gym, and a crafts room. The apartments looked fine.

I chose the Watercrest at Alamo Ranch. I wanted a little duplex condominium-style with my own garage and more privacy, and they had that. It's very nice. I like it. The only thing that I feel is not good about the place is they put the locks on backwards. I think they hired cheap labor. I have arthritis in my hands and they’re really hard to push in. The painting wasn’t a very good job, either. I didn’t check all of that before I moved in. I checked with them about my garage door, but I haven’t gotten a response. They have continental breakfast and a very good lunch. I like the place, but for the money we pay, it could have been a little bit better for the residents moving in with health problems. The people are wonderful, but the service is not what I thought it would be.

We visited Watercrest, and we liked it very much, but we it was too costly for us. The apartments were very nice and airy. They had all the amenities that we liked. The people were very friendly. They had a lot of exercise activities. They had a library and a movie theater, and they had excursions. They served two meals a day. Breakfast was included in the costs, and there was an additional cost for lunch, if you wanted that. The staff was very friendly and information. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

We chose Watercrest at Alamo Ranch for my parents. They could have a pet, and it was an age-in-place location, so they could stay in one place the whole time, and I wouldn't have to move them to different levels of care, so that was huge for us. We could bring in our own care, and they have a dog park. My dad has a dog, and they wanted to be able to meet people who also have pets and common interests. It was a brand-new and beautiful facility. They play cards and they have a weekly outing and they really enjoy that. They enjoy the Bingo and they have Happy Hour with live music every Friday that they like. They have breakfast and lunch, and they just do light meal prep for dinner in their own place. The staff is really informative and genuinely concerned about my parents; that's very important. They have a covered swimming pool -- so it's an indoor pool -- a movie theater, and a library, and they love all of those.

The one we decided on is Watercrest. It is gorgeous. You walk in and it’s like walking into a Four Seasons hotel. It’s just beautiful and only about 1 ½ years old. Everything about it -- the colors they use, the furniture they have, the apartments themselves are greatly laid out, and all the facilities. But one thing we did like about it a lot was you can kind of customize. A lot of them have 2 or 3 meals a day, and that’s included in the price, while in this one you can adjust that because they have full kitchens in the apartments. So, let’s say, you wanted only 10 meals a month, you are going to probably go down there to eat other than breakfast, then you’re not paying for all those meals that you are not even going down there to use. The fact that we can take our washer and dryer is another big plus. We did have lunch there. They had a salad bar, and I think I just had a salad and soup -- I don’t even know if I had the entrée -- but the food was very good, and we liked it. The staff was great. We liked everything about it that we have seen. We were going to 3 places when we went back there to check it out. We liked the first one and the staff a lot, but we were not impressed with the place. And then, we went to Watercrest. After we saw it, we did not bother going to the third one. That’s how impressive it was.

We're satisfied with what we saw at Watercrest. The prices were reasonable, and the whole place was very nice. The rooms were nice, and large compared to all the rest that I've seen. Everything was brand-new. Everybody was very friendly, and very helpful. They had all kinds of amenities like buses, and they also had the assisted-living if you get to that point. They had card games, transportation to churches, river walk, different places, and a fish place. They had very good food, and you can pick out what you want on the menu. They got everything covered.

Watercrest was outstanding. Everybody was friendly, and the staff immediately left me with the residents, who talked about their experiences there. The apartments are of a good size, well laid out, and accommodating. The food was outstanding.
