My mother has moved into The Parks Senior Living. It ticked all the boxes for my mom as far as her care needs and it was very homey. The people were very friendly and the staff was on top of everything. We're excited about our choice. It's just a little bit older, but everything's nice about it. My mom is very picky, but she's happy with the food. They have bingo and puzzles. They try to keep them all involved. My mom gets physical therapy, so she stays active.

My mom has moved into The Parks Senior Living. It is a small community. They have long-time employees. It is a lot more space. The value is great. The people are great. She's very happy there. The staff members are very caring. They've all been there for a long time. The facilities are very nice. They have been updated. They're very well taken care of. They do activities daily. They play bingo, they're getting back into exercise class, they have pet therapy, and they do crafts. They are in the process of putting in a little country store that the residents are going to be able to visit at any time.

We went on to look at Parks Methodist's homes. They have individual housing, duplex housing, and apartments that were all connected in one big building. All the apartments were already rented out. Their homes were fairly reasonable to buy, but their cost was $2,000 and over a month for the groundskeeping and anything that needed repair in the home. They supply one meal a day, and you can choose between lunch and dinner. It was a really nice facility, but I looked at that for my mother after my dad passed away, and she didn’t want to pay $2,000 a month after purchasing the home, so that went by the wayside. They had a realtor for these homes that stays there all the time, and he took me on a tour of the homes. There were two or three that were available; they were beautiful and clean. When a person moves out, they go in and put down new carpet and repaint the walls in natural colors. They allow you to repaint your walls if you want to. They have a calendar of acitivities they pass out every month, so that you can choose to either participate or not, but they do want you to participate in some of it so you'll get to know your neighbors. I didn't notice what games were available. I asked them if they had a calendar, and they didn't have one at that time. It's a gated community, and all of the homes are duplexes. There are some that are single homes, and they all have a drive-in garage with doors, so you can drive in and close your door behind you. Their dining hall looked very nice, and it was very clean. Their nursing home part was a separate building and under renovation for repainting and cleaning up. It was an older nursing home, but they maintain it really well. It was a very nice facility, and I was really impressed with it.

We looked at a couple of nursing homes and amongst them, Parks Methodist looked like a pretty good facility for my mom. Also her doctor had a positive attitude about this place, so we placed her there. She has been there since second week of July in fact. The facility is clean. It's pretty much odor free. A lot of the nursing home facilities have an odor but this one doesn't. The staff is extremely honest. We haven't had a thing disappeared for the past two months that my mom has been there. Security is great. The nursing staff is sweet, honest, and dependable. The physical therapist is very professional and very good. His aides work with the patients very well. I think for my mom it has been a first-class experience. She has a private room but we pay a little extra for it. It has a bed, a dresser, a couple of extra chairs. It has a television. It has its own bathroom facility. It also has an emergency call light. Food is not the kind of thing you have at home but it's reasonably good. Generally, they offer two options. Mother manages to work around whatever they have and she is doing okay with it. They also have pretty good food sanitation practice.
