My parents-in-law will be moving into Discovery Village at Castle Hills. The thing I like most is that they have a really good blend of assistance for my father-in-law and independence for my mother-in-law. I like that they have onsite PT and OT services. They have a heated pool and a kitchen set up like a restaurant. It feels more accessible than cafeteria-like. The concierge and all of the staff have been really helpful and accommodating. I've only tried their homemade potato chips, and they were delicious.

I'm planning to choose Discovery Village at Castle Hills. I like that it's light, it's bright, and it has absolutely everything I was looking for. The staff was so helpful, so thorough, and really showed us what they have. We didn't try the food yet, but I saw some people eating and the food looked really good. The facility was awesome, and they have wonderful security there, unlike some of the other places I've toured. They had amenities like a swimming pool, library, bistro, movie theater, they have painting classes, and fitness and exercise programs.

My mother will be moving into Discovery Village At Castle Hills. My mom loved the food because we got to have lunch there. She loves the fact that if she doesn't like something, they'll get her something else. She likes the view from her room because she's getting a corner of an apartment. My daughter-in-law's grandmother lives there too, so she's moving in with somebody she already knows. The facility was very clean. The staff members were very friendly. While we were eating lunch, we were both impressed when we realized that the executive director came and introduced himself. It seems like a family-oriented staff. Almost everything is included in the rent.

Discovery Village at Castle Hills is a beautiful place. They have carports, but no garages. It's fairly new, so everything was very, very clean. Their dining room looked like a restaurant. It was individual tables with tablecloths for four. They also had another room where they had what they call cocktail hour. They also use that room in the morning when they serve bagels, or in the afternoon they have cookies or something like that. They have libraries. It's very clean. Everything is very polished there. None of them had big kitchens, but they had dishwashers and garbage disposals. They had closets, pantries, and a place for a washer and a dryer. They had the hookups and everything already there. They're good at their job. All these people have been well trained. The staff member during the tour was a pro. She's been in the business for many years, and she moved there because it's a brand-new place. She had worked at all kinds of places. She had a lot of experience. She was great. There are no slouches in these jobs, and I'm impressed. It's a beautiful building. They're not an old place, so everything was spic and span. They are outstanding about taking your trash out, so you never see any debris or anything around any of them. They are exceptionally clean. I didn't see many places to go out and walk outside though. They had a small gym, but it was very small. I'm a walker and I walk for my health just about every day. All out in front were parking places, so I didn't see any space outside. Most of the other places have trails or something like that, but I didn't see that there.

When I first walked into Discovery Village At Castle Hills, I felt that it's a very warm and friendly place. The apartment has a full kitchen, so if I decide to cook, I can. Everybody was so friendly and helpful to, and it was the right place because I had been to a couple of others and I didn't get that same feeling that I got there. There were about three of the staff that explained things to me and helped get the lease signed. They invited me to stay for a happy hour, but I don't drink anything when I'm going to drive. So, I didn't stay. There's a party for new residents tomorrow afternoon and I plan to attend that. I'm looking forward to their activities, like their water aerobics, chair Zumba, and chair yoga. All the administrative staff and the lady that does the water aerobics, were just very helpful in giving me information when I ask questions. I have not tried the food yet, but I have asked if they could provide a salt-free diet, and the chef told me that they could. Normally, you order from a menu then they have things that are set up, but if you don't like those choices, you can order from a menu like a restaurant, and I like that idea. There are also tablecloths on the tables which made it feel very elegant in the dining room. It just seemed like a good fit for me. There is a pool, exercise rooms, a movie theater, which all look inviting. There's a lot of places where people can gather too. If I wanted to invite my children to have dinner with me, there's a private dining room and there's also a larger room where you could have a private party, which I thought was very nice. The public rooms are all furnished very well. The furniture is not worn and it's very tastefully done. I had been totally against going to a retirement community, but I just like the place.
