I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

In October 2019 my mother had a stroke that almost killed her, Thankful she recovered for the most part, she has aphasia and is not the same, and once home my father cared for her with the help of his sister for a couple month until my father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung disease in 02/2020 and basically told he was going to die!! All of this happened to our family in the matter of months, to say our family was on the edge is an understatement. The Hospital recommended hospice care and that going into a nursing facility might be best. Since my sister and I both work full time jobs and could not take care of them full time, after discussing with my father we all agreed a nursing facility would be best, as he would need much more help caring for my mother and his sister was about to have back surgery and wouldn't be home any longer to help. On the recommendation of the hospital, I went to check out Ashford Hall after speaking with the Director Brenda about the requirements and what my next steps would be, we moved my mother in first and then my dad was released to Ashford Hall a couple days later. Everything seems to be great, the Nursing and CNA staff seemed to be on the ball and appeared to be taking great care of my parents. My parents were admitted “Medicaid Pending '' on 02/2020, and I was told we do not pay anything as once approved Medicaid would back pay them (They now claim I made this part up, but I know another family who had their mother admitted also as “Medicaid Pending” who were also told not to pay anything). Ashford Hall filled out the paperwork for the Medicaid, and I provided all the necessary documents required. Months go by, I haven’t paid a penny and I am there all the time, even when Covid hit, I was at the window of my parent’s room and spoke to all the staff, Nurses, CNA, and Administration. My father passed away after being at Ashford Hall for 2 months, leaving just my mother on 04/16/2020. Still, we are under the impression all is well, they move my mother to another room, where we have to request a gate code to access her window which is now behind a fence. July of 2020 comes, she is denied Medicaid due to the fact they do not complete the paperwork correctly and do not include their house, claiming they were told they did not own a house, the start of the lies. Even though mortgage statements were sent to be included in the paperwork sent to Medicaid. At the end of July 2020, I get a call now claiming we owe thousands of dollars and that if we don’t pay, they are kicking my mother out. Also claiming that I was never told not to pay anything that I should have been giving them all but $60 of their SS check each month, even though they have a house, utilities and car payment to pay, so of course all of their money is gone on bills, not to mention my father’s checks stopped in April of 2020 so my mother’s check is now been covering all their bills alone, and they were paycheck to paycheck living. They tell me in order to keep my mother they will need all the money she has in her account and that I will need to bring proof her account is at $0.00 after payment. I take all the money she has and I ask them why has no one said anything to me about money being due, they claim they have been mailing statements, to where I have no idea because I have never received anything. I removed my mother shortly thereafter due to their lies and back peddling. My parents used their money to pay for their home based on the information given to us at the time they were admitted. Had they been upfront with me from the beginning we would have done things differently and taken over their house sooner so they could have paid the facility. Our intentions were always to be honest and to do what was right, not to try and get out of paying for care provided. Had Ashford Hall only extended the same courtesy to us we would not be in this situation. Cherry on Top….They wait 2 years and are now suing me.

I visited this facility

Cnas are on their phones while feeding residents. Poor people have food on their faces. Administrator hires family members for top positions, husband is maintenance supervisor, 2 of his brothers work under him, 2 sister in laws work in administarator capacities. A cousin of husband is supervisor of house cleaning, while someone I family is nutritionist. Be ware some of these people were put in position without prior experience.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

In July a lifelong friend found out she had metastatic cancer. She first went to Northgate plaza for rehabilitation but her insurance ran out and they dismissed her. Chris at Ashford Hall helped us immediately. My friend had no money no home and could not work. She was alone and Ashford took her with only Medicare and Medicaid pending. She was given excellent care until she passed away in November. Everyone treated her with respect and care. I cannot begin to thank this home for the love and care she was given. They managed her pain as it continued to get worse. Because she was Medicaid pending they did not receive any money. We worked with them and with there help we were able to get her on Medicaid before her death. We want others to be able to get care when they need it even if they do not have money. The nursing home was clean and I am Registered Nurse and was impressed with her care and compassion. Thank you again for taking care of my dear friend. You were a blessing to her and her friends.

Recently my mother passed away at Ashford Hall in Irving TX. This is the third nursing facility. The first one was in Fort Worth over 6 years ago. After two years I wanted her closer to home verses work. We looked at a few and most of them had poor ratings so we picked the nicer newer one in the area. After a year we left and went to Ashford Hall. We (my husband and I) wished we had come to Ashford Hall in the first place. The building is older but well kept. But the staffs are really caring. You will always have reservations about a nursing home. But this one was he very best of them all. You learn that looks and Star Ratings and looks don’t mean everything it’s the staff that matter. Thank you for reading this and thank you Ashford Hall for the care of my mom. LP

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I have recently set my mother up at Ashford Hall. I am impressed how well maintained the facility is and that there is not the smell as in so many other nursing homes. The staff has all been extremely nice; my mother has not been very happy with her new home but I know she will acclimate to her new surroundings because the staff is so understanding of elderly attitudes.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My grandfather had recently been having some issues with falling, and so we decided it would be best if we found a nursing home that could care for him on the day to day, just because we could not stay with him all the time. We chose Ashford Hall in Irving because it seemed like a great place with a great staff. They were all very helpful and made my grandfather feel at home. It is well lit, clean, and very cozy. The rooms are great, even though the residents have to share, but there is ample space for two people. I really liked all the staff, they made it seem as if they really wanted to care for my grand father and that his health and safety were their number one concern. While I was there I even saw that they had a Nintendo Wii set up! The residents were playing some sports games and it was keeping them active and entertained. It's a wonderful home and I highly recommend it.
