My aunt is a patient at Solera at West Houston. My family visited several nursing homes, before choosing Solera. The customer service is great and staff are very polite. My aunt never complain about the food. She really like Friday fish day. Thanks Solera for making my aunt time in a nursing home GREAT.

Thanks

The rooms are nice with the exception of some of the rooms have a strong urine smell. They are tremendously understaffed. Many of the workers have a very 'unconcerned' attitude. I would not recommend this place for your loved one.

Sadly disappointed

Sadly, my family member stayed at Solera for 30 days after a fall in that period of time Solara and their staff did little or nothing to help. Solara was nothing short of horrible, upon my family members arrival we were told not to leave any personal items in the room as it would most likely disappear, a concerning statement considering the majority of the residents are immobile. We were told to take the nebulizer as it might disappear. While at Solara, the family member was to be given 2 to breathing treatment a day but, might have received 10 treatments in a 30 day stay. The administrative staff is confrontational, disrespectful and downright rude. The nursing staff sit at the center of the rehab facility text messaging, laughing and playing on their phones. If you ask the nursing staff for any form of assistance, even a blanket, they were put out and unfriendly. My family member fell out of their chair, pushed the emergency button multiple times no one came to help. The facility knew that our family member was a fall risk. Sadly, another resident /neighbor heard them calling for helped, the neighbor helped them back in their chair. To be fair some of the PT staff were good, and showed concern and care. The facility is understaffed under educated with little or no concern for their patients. They do have flatscreen TVs as they advertise. It does look like a hotel and the rooms were relatively clean. However, the majority of residents come for medical help not for televisions and rooms. Solara’s service is sub standard, and poor quality they claim to have a “circle of caring” that is there a moto but sadly that motto is incorrect . As to the food it was poor quality, most of which was inedible. My family member actually lost quite a bit of weight as the food was of such poor quality. Luckily my family member is thriving at the new location. That location is not Medicare funded which is obvious as the care, treatment, concern is excellent as is the private rooms and food we have learned our lesson.

I used this facility twice now for respite care for my mom. Each time I came by my mom is still im the same clothes for days. She hasn't been showered. The nurses are sitting at the nurses station on their phones. They do not respond to patient calls. VERY POOR. WILL NEVER USE THIS FACILITY AGAIN!!!!!

My mother came here for rehab after she fell. the staff were GREAT and helped her get better. we werent happy that insurance made her leave, but we appealed and got to stay another few days! I highly recommend Solera if you are looking for short term rehab! They even have long term rooms, but they are always full. Hopefully if we ever need it they will have room for my mom. Thank YOU Solera!

This is an absolutely terrible place! My mother recently spent two weeks at this facility after a fall for rehab. The staff in general was very rude and spent more time on personal phone calls than they did tending to patients. On multiple occasions hours would pass while she was waiting for assistance. Food was not good and very limited in selections. At one point I reached out to the Executive Director Jesse to voice my concerns. A return phone call was never received. Please consider this information carefully when selecting a place for your loved one. It is very unfortunate. That senior citizens are not able to find better care.

Terrible first impression. Got sent here for 14 day rehab. Ambulance drivers dropped me off at room at 9:30 pm. No one greeted me or checked me in. Had to go # 2 really bad I can’t walk took my son 30 min to get “help”, they brought a urinal. Waited another 10 min to get bed pan. When I was done I clicked the call button it is 2 hours now and no response, I called on my cell and asked for help, they said they would send help but did not, I painfully removed the pan myself, the lights are on aI can’t sleep. I should have paid attention to the bad reviews. Screw rehab I want out of here

My brother recently stayed at Solera and they were very helpful to him. The room was private he did not have to worry about sharing a room. The staff were all very friendly. Nurses and their helpers took great care of him. Brandis in the business office explained his medicare benefits for us. The housekeeping lady was also very nice and room always clean. The food was not fine dining, but it was good and he liked it. Therapy was also very good. Latoya the head nurse was very friendly and answered all our questions. Overall I would recommend this place. It seems like most people only stay a couple weeks and when we first came they had a meeting with us and the executive director, social worker, therapy director explaining how the stay would go. They were very informative

I visited this facility

This is the third time my husband has been sent to this facility. We can rarely reach anyone that can give us answers about his care. There are MANY holes, transfers and hang ups. It’s disheartening to know our loved one is in a place where there seems to be little to no response from his care givers. We are however thankful for Yolanda and Sonya who gave me some answers today. I’m thankful my husband has the Lord to carry him through these trials. Help us all Lord to always do what’s best…for everyone involved. God bless you guys.

How horrible the facility is with communication with patients and family members…..lack of respect for patients and not living up to their knowledge base. The Nursing Director and Administration is a joke…they were consistently unavailable! My loved one was always found soiled and unkept. We were notified that our loved one was being discharged only 48 hours in advance. My loved one went numerous days without receiving all of his prescribed medications….OMG….of course the facility has not taken ownership for this medication error/oversight! My loved one could have possibly died due to this neglect! DO NOT LEAVE your loved one in the hands of Solera West…Houston!

Communication is very poor, attention to my family member is dismal. His bed is broken,he has not received most of his medicine. He had things delivered to Solera by a friend and some things never made it to his room. His charger for his cell phone was thrown away. The staff;some are nice to him, some are very mean to him. In his week of being here we have never spoken to the head nurse about his condition. The meeting with his team was with finance services, social worker, physical therapy and nursing. Finance spoke most, physical therapy gave us updates and the social worker mostly argued with us. The meeting ended before getting any information from the nurse. Physical therapy said they couldn’t give him physical therapy because his bed is broken. He is very weak, when he arrived he could take about 5 steps with help. He cannot walk at all now. They want to keep him for another week but they aren’t helping him to become stronger nor are they giving him proper medications that he needs. The food is not good, the social worker is very rude and we have asked for 4 days to talk to the head nurse and she has never called us back. I’m grateful our family member is very lucid with no dementia and can tell us what is going on. If there’s a way to avoid having your loved one at Solera, please do avoid it

My mom was at Solera at West Houston for rehab. The place was very nice, well put together, and beautiful inside, but I didn't really think that the attention that Mom needed at the time sufficed. I don't wanna say they didn't know what they were doing, but we had to insist that a doctor come. She was there because she had fallen, so she needed physical therapy. She should have had, to me, physical therapy every day. She would have it maybe twice a week, and she said sometimes they would just walk her down the hall and come back. I tried to get more physical therapy for the next week. After they did it maybe three or four times and then we were right back to them. She'd done them a week. She also has COPD, so we need to make sure that she does her breathing treatments. They were only doing two when she needed to do three, and then she started to feel bad. She was supposed to do four. When I called up and asked them if they're doing four, they were like, "It doesn't make a difference, now that she does two, three, or four during the day." I was like, "Yes it does. It does make a big difference." I called my doctor and she said, "Absolutely". And she said, "If you need anything from me, any notes from me, let me know." They weren't administering the breathing treatments. Those are just some of the scenarios I ran into. They're definitely below average. I would even give them a one or two maybe because they upset me about the breathing treatments. They were very sweet, they just didn't seem to know what they were doing. She seemed to like the food. The physical appearance was beautiful. I think they need more training and they need to know their patient and what kind of issues they're working with. There was no communication, I had to call each time to get anything.

Horrible experience. It took them 3 days to give my father proper pain medication. He had a painful fractured arm and was suppose to be on hydrocodone and he suffered for days. It took them 4 days to brush his teeth, had to tell them multiple times to cut his food. Refused to test him for the coronavirus and discharged in April in the middle of epidemic with no concern to my families safety. All they care about is getting paid! When released they failed to give me his records and reports from tests done. They gave me no prescriptions for him in the middle of an epidemic. Employees did not return my calls multiple times. They failed to give me his insulin, and blood thinners. Facility should be forced to keep residents that can not dress themself, get out of bed, and shower independently with a fractured arm until the coronavirus is over. All patients should be tested for the coronavirus before they kick them out and infect that residents entire family. Actual rooms were fine, included mini fridge and storage.

My mother was in the Solera at West Houston for rehab. It was beautiful and clean. She had physical therapy, and they helped her get dressed and take medicines. Her room was lovely. The food was pretty good. They were kind, concerned, and professional. She liked to go outside and sit in the rocking chairs in the garden area, which was so lovely. They had so many white rocking chairs uniformly out there.

Solera West Houston was a very good facility for my father's rehab from a broken hip. The staff was attentive to him, kind, and very helpful. The facility and individual rooms were clean. The rehab therapists were excellent. The nurse practitioner was amazing and sent me daily text updates on how my dad was doing. I was very much at ease with him being there and knew he was treated kindly and taken care of. The discharge went very smoothly and home health care/therapy was set up immediately. The staff followed up after discharge multiple times to check on my dad. I would highly recommend Solera to others.

Went to visit my elderly mother-in-law here this evening. Well they FORGOT to feed her tonight. She is on a feeding tube. There is no medical reason not to feed her. They fed her in the morning and FOGOT to feed her at night. It was after 8:45 P.M. before someone came to her room. She had to call the desk to get them to feed her. I would not leave my dog here overnight. Do not bring your loved one here. I only saw one employee there at night on Saturday.

My wife is at Solera at West Houston. It is modern and clean, and it smells very good for a nursing home. The staff is very attentive and caring. I would certainly recommend it. I think food is good. The dining is nice, well-kept, and clean. They feed the people that need to be fed. Also, it looks like they have a lot of activities, but my wife is not able to participate at this time.

My father lived here for 6 months - first for rehab, then transitioned to long-term care on hospice there. I was very pleased with his nurses and aides. He felt safe and well cared for. My dad received a high quality of care, regardless of the time of day or night. If I had any questions or concerns, they were addressed quickly and to my complete satisfaction. The shift in care needed at the end of his life was excellent! I consider the administrative and clinical people that I met to be my friends now.

This facility has major staffing issues they have have gone through at least SIX Executive Directors in FIVE years, therefore there has been NO continuity of care! They broke my Grandmothers leg which resulted in her horrible, painful death! Do not be fooled by the looks of this facility!

Beautiful facility, but the staff on the weekends are horrible. Patient was mistreated and left to sit in her wet bed for Over an hour. They really need to hire employees that really care. Some of the employees have very bad attitudes. Will never have my loved one there again. Do not recommend it. The food is horrible.

We did have a few outstanding employees that we loved at Solera, but generally speaking, much improvement is needed on standards and quality of care. My mother was scheduled to receive 2 breathing treatments daily, On 4 days (of her two week stay before passing) either me or a family member had to go out and remind them. Once we were told "the pharmacy was out and had to order from another facility" so she didn't get a treatment. One night, she remained alone and sat in a wet diaper for three hours because no one answered call light-turns out the light was broken. That is poor maintenance. We had to remind them daily to come and move her so as to prevent bed sores. Toward end of her stay, they did get better about that. We were with our mom all day and towards the end all day and night. No one made sure that she ate(we did when she could eat) Can you imagine if we weren't there how many things would have gone unaddressed? We asked about protocols and were told that those were at the nursing station on a computer. How is family to know what does or doesn't get done, if there is not a checklist that ALL can refer to. I feel the safety of the facility was lacking too. I was just not impressed and would not put a family member there in the future. My sister in law, who had some experience with nursing facilities was not impressed either.

I was in for rehab for a total hip replacement for 3 weeks. This place was excellent!?the therapists got me really strong and I can walk without a cane after 3 weeks. All the nurses and aids are really nice. Just like anywhere else there is a smaller amount of staff on nights and weekends and it may take a little longer to get assistance during those times but they always paid attention to my needs.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom was in the hospital and from there she went to Solera at West Houston. She was there for probably three weeks before she passed away. She had gone in there after the hospital told us that there was not much more they could do. Solera at West Houston caters to skilled nursing and physical therapy and she only did a couple of days of physical therapy and really couldn't do much. When we put her in, the physical therapists were really good. They were trying to work with her, but they really couldn't do much. The nurses were good. But, since we had 24-hour nursing care from an external in-home care agency, they didn't really do much for her because our nurses did everything. I mean they still came in and checked on us a couple of times every shift. They brought us meals, towels, gowns, and shoes -- that kind of thing. We had a little problem initially, and then we talked to the manager and everything was much better after that. They were there for us whenever we needed anything or when our nurses asked for anything. They tried to wash her hair until the hospice came in. They didn't need to do a lot of one-on-one care with her because we had the nurses, but they seemed compassionate to some of the other patients. The place was very clean, very comfortable, and the beds seemed to be very comfortable; they were bigger than the hospital beds, but they still work like hospital beds. They told us when we first got there that the beds could go all the way down to the floor. They did not have bedrails because they would lower the bed to the floor instead, which would help for safety reasons. They had a recliner inside the room, a desk, a dresser, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a sink -- it was kept very clean. The room was very spacious; there was plenty of room for me and the nurse to move around, and then when family came, we had room so the family could sit. We actually put extra chairs in there. They have a little closet where we could put our chairs in, so we brought some little chairs and when family came, everybody had a place to sit. We could seat six to eight people very easily with the room. We had a place where my brother could actually do some work while he visited with mom, so that was very beneficial to my family to have that. I was very satisfied because they did everything that we asked of them. I was very satisfied with everything.
