I visited The Edgemere (The Plaza At Edgemere). The positive thing about this facility is that you can move in and stay there until you die. The negative thing is that right now, the majority of the people there are over 80 years old. The surroundings were very nice though.

Caring staff. Great medical care. Very nurturing and friendly. I really appreciated their sincere concern and assistance in smoothing the transition of my parents into the Plaza. I rest easy knowing my mom and dad are safe there. They go the extra mile at The Plaza!

My mother moved into The Plaza at Edgemere Assisted Living because she needed more help due to her Alzheimer's. Everyone was so encouraging, friendly and helpful. She had an apartment for about 6 months and then she broke her hip and is now on the 3rd Floor and we have had the same experience. The nursing staff, sitters and everyone that we see is so kind and capable. The facility is very clean and the food is great. I would encourage anyone looking for care for their loved ones to consider the Edgemere. Having a transitional care facility has been a life saver for our family and my mother is safe and happy.

My mother has been living at the Edgemere Assisted Living facility for almost 3 months now. After visiting many facilities in the area I was happy to have found a place like Edgemere for my mother to call home. The staff is very friendly and prompt. The facility is extremely clean and it is obvious that the residents are well taken care of. My mother always raves about the food and many activities she is involved in. I must admit that I was a little hesitant for my mother to move into a a facility since she has lived on her own since my father passed away but after her recent hip fracture and intensive rehab it was apparent that she needed a little more assistance. My mother and I are very happy with the decision and encourage anyone looking for an assisted living facility in the Dallas area to visit Edgemere.

The staff is amazing! They are so loving and supportive, they really care about him. I feel so confident in the care that he is receiving there, and have never had an issue. He gets his medications on time, they take him to work, to Doctors appointments, on group outings to museums, and special events. He enjoys the entertainers that come in all the time and he wishes he made the decision to move sooner. Could not be happier, the place is not only beautiful but the care is the best!

My mother has lived here for 5 years and I cannot be happier. She enjoys the activities and the meals are fabulous!! I love that there is never any staff turnover, so they really know mom and I can trust them.

I visited this facility
If you have a lot of money, Edgemere is nice. It's a little absurd when you compare the amenities and everything side by side with the place we chose. I don't see how they could justify the cost. In terms of the amenities at the facility, they probably came in second. The most attractive thing for us was what they referred to as the hotel concept. In other words, the layout of the place where the living facilities are connected in the same building, connected with the restaurant and other amenities like exercise room, theater, and everything else. They're all in the same building. Whereas some of the other concepts were like separate buildings, and you have to even go outdoors to get in your car or ask for somebody to take you from one building to the other building. Here, the facilities were very beautifully done. It's a hotel-style kind of thing, where everything was easily accessible like the dining areas and the other areas. I think that the layout of the facility itself is what's attractive to us.
The person who gave the tour was not as amicable and friendly as the other place. They were just kind of showing us where things are and did not ask if we have a family, where we're from, or get a little more personal. They didn't really care to know anything about us. They're not as expansive, but they have a little courtyard that seems to be smaller. It was nicely landscaped. They seemed a lot more compact than the other place. They have amenities in the apartment, and it was very comfortable. I just found that it was much, much too expensive. They have this buy-in thing that didn't make any sense to us. If you have that money to put upfront, and that's what they draw from, I'd rather have it in my checking account than in their checking account. There's no reason why they need to be holding on to $300,000 of money. I'd rather have it gaining some interest in my money market account instead of theirs, so it just didn't make sense to me. The monthly fee was not that much different than the other place. It's a little bit higher, but not through the roof.

I visited this facility
Edgemere was very close to our home and was the nicest place. We visited several others and they had the nicest facilities and seemed to have the best options for my parents. We looked at both the independent living and assisted living. The staff was very, very good and the lady who gave the tour was excellent and very knowledgeable. She's been there for a long time, so she knew the community, the staff, and the residents.
Their facilities were very clean and the layout was very nice and very well-thought-out. They have a pool and a patio where they could have access to the outdoors with a relaxing view of the trees and the courtyard. Those were the things that were important to us, but the most important for me personally was it felt safe for my parents and very close to home.

Leaving a home I loved was not an easy decision, but now that I’m at EDGEMERE oh my, I’m so glad I made the move. The staff is terrific: kind, supportive, working hard to ensure our satisfaction. The apartments are roomy and feel liThe residents are welcoming and friendly, and I have made some wonderful new friends since I arrived. While this is definitely Independent Living, something I wanted, there are support services in place should I ever need them. I am so glad I made this move!

I visited this facility
Edgemere had four levels of care, but we were visiting the independent level. It's very expensive, but I liked it a lot. It had beautiful walkways within the grounds and there were gardens around the walkways. There was a very quiet place to just walk around. The staff was friendly and professional. The room was quite spacious and lovely, but you bring in your own furniture, and there were different sizes. A bunch of them were going out to dinner at a new restaurant on a bus that would take them.

I visited this facility
I liked Edgemere. They had it all there and they are doing a wonderful job. Everybody I know who's there is having a great time. It's located on the corner of a 6-lane highway, so it could be really noisy. The people there were very nice, and the young woman I talked to was very helpful. Everything in there was just as nice as it could be.

“My wife and I have always been ‘Planners.’ So we spent about two years visiting Retirement Communities in and around Dallas in anticipation of where we would relocate in 8 or 9 years when we would sell our big house and free ourselves of pool maintenance, yard work, home repairs, etc. Edgemere became the clear choice because of its many amenities and beautiful ambiance. When she knew she was dying after a very short illness she was so concerned for me that she insisted I move to Edgemere. She even made me make my deposit, get a contract and show it to her before she passed! It was the best thing I could have done. Comfortable apartment, good food (I don’t cook!), and great people who have made me feel very welcome.”
