C. C. Young was favorable, but I probably would rate it third among the others. I would give kudos to the person who showed me around, but when I asked about a power outage, he said that they had had some power outage and that they immediately made it a top priority to see that everyone was taken care of. The staff were put on notice that they were expected for extra time. It was a sprawling type of facility and there were several different buildings there so they would try to find ways to take care of the people. Maybe if one building had power and the other didn't, they would move them. He was telling me what a high priority the care of the people was, but that power outage was within the realm of possibility and that they had had a power outage. I appreciated the candor, but that set me back. The facilities were older, but they were being upgraded. I do not consider that to be a negative. They seemed to be cared for well and that they were in the process of upgrading some and I think that that's a regularly schedule thing that they do. They had an extensive exercise place, too.

My wife was at C. C. Young. I was very impressed. It's a multi-building facility because they have assisted living there as well and then they also have a memory care facility. It was very nice and very clean. The staff were very caring, very concerned, and knowledgeable. They had board games. Every day they had something going on in the facility. Because of my wife's limited mobility, she could not partake in some of the stuff, but looking at the calendar, there was something every day. The dining area was very good, very clean, and very efficient.

My aunt will be moving into C. C. Young. It's great. It has all the activities. It's next to the arboretum. It will fit her needs at better prices. We chose it because of its proximity and what it offered. They're going to put her in independent living, and then when the time comes, she'll move over to assisted living. Everybody was very polite. They all knew each other. If she doesn't want to drive herself, she can get one of their concierge cars to drive her to her doctor's appointment. There are physical therapy rooms. Even at the independent living level, they will still have doctors come to visit. They had a lot more amenities that were suited for my aunt. They offered salons, gyms, swimming pools, a book club, libraries, and several dining places to dine from.

Mom's rehab experience with CC Young was excellent. They were prompt, attentive, and provided the services without having to ask twice. Her room was similar to a large well-appointed hospital room. Maintenance and upkeep were excellent. She enjoyed the meals. The staff was friendly and attentive.

My mother came to CC Young from the hospital to their short term rehab floor May 18 until May 26, 2022. We picked this facility with high hopes, intending for her to move to their long term nursing floor after rehab. It was the second most expensive option, but seemed like the best. I wish I could report a better experience; we moved her to a different facility. CC Young is luxurious, feels like a high end hotel. There were a couple of very nice staff members. Unfortunately, that's about the only good things I can report. From the moment we got there, we encountered a culture of apathy and horrible communication. Some examples: - The admission itself was cold and impersonal. The room was not ready when we got there; the ambulance people checked her in, and we waited. No welcome, nothing. Over an hour before the admissions nurse came in. No food set aside for mom as promised - Mom was a full code for the first couple of days, even though a DNR was provided on admission. - Bathroom door was broken; this bothered mom, so made 3 requests for maintenance during our week there, still broken on discharge. - The big thing was that there was no communication: no "hey, any tips on how to get your mom to participate in therapy", no "do you have any questions, here's what to expect." Nothing. Tried several times to reach social worker who only called me back when Medicare sent them a notice that benefits would end because mom was not participating in therapy. - It seemed that staff interacted minimally. On one visit, when I asked about the catheter she arrived with from the hospital, the nurse told me it had been removed. When I went into the room, I saw that the catheter was still in and the bag almost full. If the nurse had been in the room and interacted with my mother, how could she think that her catheter was removed? Two days before discharge, a nurse told me that they would have to remove the catheter because they did not have an order for one. Then why was it left in for a week? - A psychiatric consult was ordered (not a bad idea, but seems like something to communicate to the family). A consult with hospice was ordered (ditto). - I sent this list of concerns to the patient advocate and the administrators after discharge. Crickets. I appreciated thoughtful reviews when I was searching, and I hope this helps. Maybe CC Young’s other programs are good, but if you are looking for compassion and communication in a nursing or rehab program, all I can tell you is that's not what we found.

Mediocre nursing staff that needed constant prodding to follow through on many basics. My parent ended up with skin breakdown and was not assisted to be properly cleaned even after I mentioned my concerns. Other departments were generally helpful, but nursing issues left us very frustrated. The rooms are very nice and spacious. Activities were about average for a facility like this.
