We went to see the Avalon - Allencrest assisted living facility due to its proximity to the metro Dallas area. We are in search of a suitable place for our aunt to live. The grounds had lots of nice trees and grass for the residents to enjoy on the nearby benches in back, where they also host barbeques and parties. There was plenty of space for seniors to can comfortably live with and enjoy nice furnishings while socializing, reading, using the computer, working on arts and crafts, playing games and other activities. The private living quarters were clean with lots of light and beautifully decorated. Many of the spaces were designed personally by residents with their own furniture. The residents engage in physical activity by taking exercise classes for aerobics and yoga, or can also use weight training equipment or ride stationary bikes. They can also enjoy walking in the courtyard with safe supervision at all times. The casual and formal dining rooms all had nice, comfortable furniture. The menus include an interesting variety of healthy and delicious, nutritious foods that are appetizingly presented. The snacks we saw all looked healthy and nutritious - and are offered any time the residents want to enjoy them. They are also encouraged to eat them throughout the day. We were comforted to know that there are many nearby hospitals and medical offices. The nursing staff also attends to special needs residents. The nearby metro area provides the ability for the residents to enjoy lots of visits to venues with culture, art, nice shopping and plenty of fine and casual dining establishments. The residents are all treated with great care, dignity and kindness - so that they all seem to really thrive in their living environment.
