I visited this facility

We just talked with the salesman there at Brookdale Pecan Park. The facility looked very clean and well-kept. The staff was very good. I thought we had a good tour. I think a lot of the things that we hadn't thought about, things like security and those kinds of things were covered. The facilities looked like they would be adequate. We were more interested in the memory care part of it. We saw group activities. It's probably as good as it could be. I think they have probably covered more than we would have considered necessary. We saw the rooms. We saw rooms, but they weren't furnished at the time. We were looking at the empty facilities. There was no furniture or anything like that in there, but things like television connections and things like that, that would be important, they covered all that with us. In assisted living, you'd be bringing your own furniture and belongings in. We saw the meal arrangements and I think there was some kind of a live entertainment show going on in the memory unit. The dining area was large with individual tables like you would see in a restaurant. It's in the city. There wasn't any shopping area right adjacent to it, but certainly within a few blocks. There were multiple buildings there like an apartment complex. Cleanliness was fine. I didn't see anything that would give me any concern in that regard.

Brookdale Pecan Park looked like it had a lot of activities for the residents. It looked like there was a community, and the people knew one another and were friendly. I think those were the most positive things. When I was there, they were celebrating somebody's 101st birthday in the dining hall, and I thought that was nice. The staff said they have different stations where they set up small groups where they will do flower arranging or puzzles. They can move around and try different activities to keep them busy. The building itself was okay. The thing that I didn't like about this structure was that it had an odd smell. And they were covering it up with some other fragrance trying to mask the bad smell, and so that was not appealing. It didn't seem as clean as the other place I went to, but I wouldn't say it was dirty either. It was okay. The food seemed okay. The residents seemed happy. The woman that gave me the tour talked to them about the food, and they were like, 'Yeah it was good.' However, the saleswoman was 20 minutes meeting me, and that made me feel like 'Is that how they're going to treat my dad when he's there?' That was off-putting as a first impression.

We are choosing Brookdale Pecan Park for my father. The staff seemed very concerned and very supportive. It seemed like a very happy facility. The rooms were really clean and smelled great. There were staff everywhere. They had multiple places to spend your time, so you're not just in your room. There was a dining facility, a living room facility, a game room, and an art center. They had podiatrists coming in monthly, and they also had people coming in to do hair. They had activities every single day for the seniors so that they don't get bored and have something to do to amuse their time.

Brookdale Pecan Park has three buildings. One building is for higher-functioning people, and then you move to different buildings based on your decline. It had a very nice setting. It was set back and had a fence around it, which was one thing my mom liked. It had a lot of yards that you could walk in. It had a small courtyard. The rooms were nice. It was priced on the higher end of things, but it looked like you got services for those things. They have three different dining rooms. Their activities are in three different areas, so you would go to different buildings depending on what the activity was, which I think was a negative. The facility was very clean and bright. The director who gave us the tour was very energetic and very loving of her residents. The rooms were nice and updated. You had options for different rooms. The bathrooms were a good size. There was music playing. There was only one little sitting area, a dining area, and then the rest of the building was hallways and rooms. There were few people that we saw, and there was minimal interaction with residents. There were not any activities going on at the time we were there.

I looked at Brookdale Pecan Park because they're just a few blocks from my house. I like the facility, but I'm not yet ready to give them a yes. It was very clean. I saw several attendants working. I was able to watch some of the activities going on in one of the larger activity rooms. The ladies that were there at the tables seemed to be having an enjoyable time. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the facility and the attention paid to the patients. The staff who toured me was very personable, very informed, and very attentive to my questions and what my husband's needs might be. It was in a beautiful, wooded, and shaded area. It's very clean. They explained that there would be a single room available, or my husband could share a room with another person. The eating area looked very nice, very clean, and very easy to access. Right now, I'm very impressed with it, and we would probably go with that one if I was ready to make a decision.

I went to Brookdale Pecan Park. It was well done. The cafeteria was nice. They have a pretty good variety of menu choices. The staff seemed very friendly, the people that we saw were one of the directors, very knowledgeable. You could tell that they had a rapport with the guests there, and they communicated with other staff very well. In the short time, we were there, we didn't have a whole lot of time to observe too much interaction with staff, there were a couple of interactions and they handled it very nicely, and were able to address the issues of the other staff member and take care of it quickly. So that was nice. We were looking for independent living and assisted care, but the assisted care was cool, my mother's gonna love that. It's been there a while, but it's not run down. I wish the pricing was a little bit lower.

I really liked Brookdale Pecan Park. It was very clean and it was really pretty and nice, and the staff seemed really good. You know, they were a really good staff, and friendly. The rooms were nice. They were kept clean. Sometimes when you go to a nursing home, it has that weird smell. It didn't have any of that. It was a very clean and pretty facility. It's definitely one of my favorites. They have three separate buildings, and that was a little bit of a concern because Mother was going to start in building one because she has a little bit of dementia, but when it gets really bad they were going to move her to building three. Each move is really hard on someone with dementia.

We toured Brookdale Pecan Park. It was real nice. They took time with us and asked questions about mom's situation. They seemed to be helpful with giving us knowledge to try to pick a right place for her. They had a sample menu, so we looked at that. It seemed to be good. The room seemed to be real nice. It was a smaller environment and had secured doorways. It all seemed to be nice.

At this time, Brookdale Pecan Park doesn't have any openings yet for memory care, but I liked the setting of it and the rooms were OK. The reason they said they rarely get openings in memory care is that they give their residents in the assisted living firsthand if something comes up for memory care, so they usually have someone waiting to go in. They couldn't tell us a time when my husband would be able to be there, so we didn't try to be on the waiting list, and the memory care wasn't as nice, as big, and as open as the others we saw. That's just a matter of taste because I like openness, and my husband likes to walk a lot with his walker and go outside, and they didn't have an area like that, but the staff was very nice. It is an older place, but not that it's a bad thing, we just like the open concept of the newer ones.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father has been in Brookdale Pecan Park and it has been good. One of the positives is that the staff members have been there a long time. The executive director and the head nurse have been there six or seven years, and that's kind of hard to find. Also, they have given him a very personalized care experience. He's very moody and they tend to accommodate him. They are creative in how they handle his moods as his dementia gets worse. I see them doing exercises, listening to music, engaging them with the music, having discussions about memory, and just trying to keep them out in the community rather than dwelling in their room. The only trouble he has had has been with laundry items going missing. This is his fourth Brookdale facility including a rehab and they have kept track of him facility wide. Even people from his rehab that transferred to Pecan Park remember him, engage with him, and remember things about him.

Brookdale Pecan turned my husband down. This facility was really nice. I will rate them high even when they refused to take my husband in. They had gourmet food, a nice dining room, and nice, single rooms. They had lots of activities. The landscaping was also nice. The staff seemed really nice and friendly when we were there. The pricing was a little above standard. They only thing they can improve on is probably the qualifications to get people in there.

I did like Brookdale Pecan Park (formerly Broadway Plaza Pecan Park). When I went in there, they had singing, wine tasting, and cheese. I talked to a nice lady named Amy, and the rooms she showed me were really nice. If I were to put my mother in a facility, I would choose this out of all the ones I visited. I liked the way it was run, and the people were very nice and friendly. She showed me a room that they set up in case people don't have furniture because you're supposed to bring your own furniture. It was really nice, beautiful, spacious, very clean, and smelled really good.

I thought Brookdale Pecan Park was an excellent choice, and I didn't find any problems with it; with the exception that it would get very expensive for my father-in-law with his particular needs. He is a great tall man and wheelchair bound, and he would need to have assistance. I think that it is going to be difficult for them to provide what he needed. Other than that, the facility was wonderful.

I met with the staff person at Brookdale Pecan Park. I had a tour of their memory center and their main facility. She was very helpful as far as giving me information about the facility, and she even showed me a couple of different rooms. I was impressed with the place. It was well kept. They had a TV room and a game room where they can play games like bingo. The dining area was really nice.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My father has been a resident for 14 months now. I can't say enough positive things about this facility and its staff. The staff genuinely care for my dad and the other residents. They are attentive; they get to know their individual residents so that they notice when something seems "off." They call me with any concerns, keep me updated about dad's care, and respond promptly to my questions or concerns. My dad enjoys it there, has made friends, feels comfortable, and recently chose to stay there instead of moving closer to us. His room is clean and the facility does not have that unpleasant smell that we have encountered in some similar facilities. They have 2 buildings, each with about 40 residents; each building has its own dining hall. (I have never visited the memory care building.) They have a van that takes residents to appointments, shopping (usually at a nearby Wal-Mart, or out to eat (they have a bimonthly lunch group). They do have some activities like Bingo, etc; I sometimes think that it would be nice if they increased the variety of activities they offered. They allow residents to have pets, which I think is a fantastic benefit. I think my dad likes the fact that the building is not too large, and he has gotten to know the other residents better because of the smaller population size. He is in the main building that houses the staff offices, and perhaps this has allowed him to get to know the staff better, I don't know; but they love him and he seems very happy there. I'm grateful to them for the good care they are giving him, and I would recommend this facility to anyone.

We had a fine visit at Broadway Plaza at Pecan Park. The lady who assisted us was very nice and gave us a great tour. We like her. Broadway Plaza at Pecan Park was a great place. Actually, it was our second choice. We like it very much but it was not secure and we decided our Mom needed to be in memory care in a secure place. They did have a memory care wing but I didn't care for that particularly building as well; however, we really like their main two buildings.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My father has already moved into Broadway Plaza at Pecan Park. It's great there. It is a very nice and clean facility. They keep it very well. I picked it because of its location. It was right in between my house and work, so it was most convenient. Also, it has a facility dealing with Alzheimer's patients and that was something that is really important to me. My father has been there now for going on two-and-a-half months and he loves it there. We're really satisfied with it too. Their residents are really good. Their staff from the administration and the aides are also equally good.

I visited this facility

While driving through the Texas region, we decided to stop in and visit Broadway Plaza at Pecan Park since we were looking for an assisted living facility where my brother's friend might live. We were impressed that they could accommodate our last-minute visit. The area is convenient for the family. The main area seemed clean and well tended. The staff was very nice and seemed to treat the residents kindly - some of whom were not ambulatory. They seem to be able to accommodate most senior circumstances with a variety of living options available. We really liked the little park area outside, which was close to the main door. We also thought it looked as though the staff could easily manage all of the residents, which is important. The rooms we saw were all nicely decorated. The exercise room seemed well designed and maintained. They had a very nice book selection, which is important to my brother's friend. There were a variety of the typical activities that assisted living facilities usually have - plus many others. The staff takes the time to add to the events and activities to keep things interesting. The food looked well-prepared and appetizing and the dining room furniture was very nice. We also liked the decor. The facility looked like a nice place to live - and we would recommend that anyone looking for a place for their loved one check it out.
