I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Ave Maria Home is a beautiful site. It is just gorgeous out there for retirement living. My aunt was initially put in rehab, but after the rehab was unsuccessful, she was placed on hospice care and I did not want to move her. That's just how pleased I was with the entire staff from beginning to end. They don't make a move until they make sure they have contacted me to let me know everything that they are doing. The staff is very knowledgeable. No one speaks out of their area of expertise. If I'm asking about nutrition and I'm talking to the social worker, they pass me onto the nutritionist and let everybody speak on their own behalf. They gave me a plan of care for her. They had a meeting that I dialed in to speak to everyone who renders care for my aunt. Everybody had their own plan of action for giving care to her and I like that. Her room is nice. It's for a single person. They have different houses and I think there are probably 12 people per house. They have a huge kitchen that sits out where you can see the food being prepared. I've seen some of the meals that they cooked for the residents and for me it looks like a healthy meal. No one is looking like they're starving or anything, You don't pick up any odors. Everyone on site appears to be well cared for. It's very clean from the area where you check-in. Everybody who is on-site as a visitor, have to check in and get COVID screening. Everyone was abiding by the COVID rules. You have to wear a mask before you can even go into the areas with everybody else.

Staff is friendly until you make inquiries about the care and treatment of relatives. Rehabilitation is listed as one of their main focal points but my relative has not received any rehabilitation therapy at all. We have made inquiries about this, but were dismissed shortly after inquiries were made.

My dad is in Ave Maria in Bartlett, so we go there all the time. It's been great, they give exceptional service. He's in the rehabilitation center and the staff have been great. There's one person who's maybe a little rude, but other than that, everybody else is pretty good. Everything's updated, it's like a home environment. They have a kitchen and a living room area. They have activities for the residents, and it's been really great, the whole experience has been great. They offer haircuts, nail clipping, and pedicures. They also offer physical therapy and different activities to keep them occupied. I think they also have a dentist that comes in. I have not seen activities being done this time around because of COVID, but I saw some the last time. They had musicians come, arts and crafts, and several different kinds of activities. They have a chef that cooks the food fresh. Everything is good, and if you don't like what they serve, they give you a second option. I'd give them a four-star rating because they have that one rude person that kind of brought that star down a little. For the value, I will say it's average just looking at the cost from the information I've been gathering. I think it's very comparable to all the other places.

My mother was a patient there and unfortunately passed away a few weeks ago. I cannot stress enough how amazing the care was that she received as a patient. However, on the family side, the social work department is one of the worst managed systems I have ever seen. They are not allowed to use technology, do not follow through on promises and are almost comical in their approach to business. This is an overall administrative issue and does not diminish the care my mother received, but think twice if you need anything on the social service side.

Ave Maria Assisted Living is very nice. The staff was attentive and caring. The grounds look very nice, it's a clean, and a good place. My mother had a room there; it was just a bedroom with no shower and no bath, but it's big enough for her. Some of their activities include crafts, trivia, games, and they have groups that come and sing to them.

Still in the "uncertain" mode. My mother has been in a 'Green House' for 9 months. My concerns are she is coherent and very communicative (still has great wit and is a wonderful conversationalist ), with mild/moderate dementia yet she resides with residents none of whom are able to communicate. She frequently states she is lonely and bored. She is unable to engage nor make friends with any of the residents in this home which has led to severe feelings of isolation for her. When I visit, as I do often, I don't get the "home" feeling that the Greenhouse Project claims to provide. Though the Residents of her Green House are lovely and wonderfully sweet souls, I had hoped for a placement with Residents who more fit my mother's capabilities. I have addressed the concern to Administration Personnel to no avail. I also wish that Staff would be more gently assertive in getting my mother to activities on the premises and to realize that residents with dementia and depression may require that extra tender persuasion and creative approach. There is definitely a craft and a calling in working with the elderly. I had hoped to see more Catholic traditions in place, at the very least, prayers before meals and more visits from Clergy. It is the most difficult decision for a family when having to displace a parent from his/her beloved home of familiarity and life nuances, yet I don't believe it is nearly as difficult for the parent who loses her comfort zone, her routine, her sense of control, her traditions of family, her dignity and who lives in intense fear of her future. It is incumbent on all of us to be sensitive and accommodating to the most vulnerable among us. On a positive note, the Green House is clean and inviting. (Most) Caregivers are genuinely kind and compassionate and attentive. The Green House concept is ideal and is a direction in assisted living that lends promising and hopeful outcomes, but only if we individualize each Resident and make appropriate placements based on the Resident's cognitive status in lieu of "penalizing" them for their physical disabilities. I truly hope Mom acclimates and assimilates, but thus far I am not seeing it.

Ave Maria does not deserve even a single star. A family member of mine lived in this facility and when we visited our family member, we found said family member lying in the bed barely responsive and it was easy to tell it was because of a strong or large amount of sedatives. When we requested information regarding any medications that had been given to our family member, we were amazed to see that the nurses at Ave Maria had given our family member an amount of benzodiazepines capable of sedating a 200 lb. human being even though the person I am speaking of was only 110 lbs at most. We immediately removed our family member from this facility and I apologize for not posting this review sooner. Thank God we got there before the faculty at Ave Maria gave our family member anymore benzodiazepines because they evidently were not worried at all about the comfort of my family member who was under their "care"

Ave Maria Home is clean and well-maintained. The food is good and the staff is friendly. It's not as upscale as the other communities I have visited, but it's not as expensive either. I would recommend them. They have field trips once in a while, card games, social hours, and an exercise room.

I have had two relatives at this facility. They both received excellent compassionate care. My brother, who was terminally ill, received unbelievablely great holistic care, including the distraught, grieving family members. My aunt, who was at Ave Maria Home for over 10 year, required total care for all of those years. She was always neat, well groomed, and clean. The environment was clean and odor free. Our family is grateful for the superb care that our relatives received at Ave Maria Home.

My father is currently in the rehab facility there.. Been there almost 30 days.. This last few days have been hot right.. And at 3000+ a month you'd think get ready for the heat.. Old people are very susceptible to the heat right... It was like an oven in that place ( the rehab unit ).. So to maybe make it a little cooler in his room...I opened the AC. Unit in his room.. OMG.. I almost lost my cookies... If I can post the pictures I took I'll do so.. But let me sum this picture up for you... Legionnaires diseases.!!!!!! So it time to leave.. Yes more... Ask the on duty staff to look at a problem he was having.. Want go in to details. Now discovering sores on his back side... To me under staffed...Find another place for your loved one...

I visited this facility

Ave Maria Home was a nice, clean, large place that felt very isolated to me. The people seemed to be fine, but it would be a great distance from my house, and if my mother needs me, I want to be able to get to her right away. We were given a tour by someone who didn't know the community properly.

My mother lived at Ave Maria in the assisted living apartments for eleven years following the death of my did. She loved, loved, loved, living there. She had a regular poker game every single night at 6:00 PM and would plan to go on our family outings after consulting the activities schedule. She loved TH night bingo and Saturday afternoon bingo. The staff would go out of their way to make sure my mother was happy. I think she liked the food and she gained weight while there. The activities van driver would take her anywhere she wanted to go. The nursing staff seemed to really care about my mother. I wish my dad had lived there but he died while they lived in South Florida. Administration has always been very involved and is visible throughout the building. Lots of long term people working there.

Ave Maria is clean and didn’t smell bad. Everybody was nice, and the rooms were nice. It has a couple of stories and probably 100 rooms.

Ave Maria was top notch. They had a wide range of services. The staff was very good. They were very attentive to details, and they seemed to care. The sanitation was very good. One of my parents used it as a recovery facility.

We were pleased with Ave Maria and actually that’s where we want to put her, but the problem was they had a very long waiting list. That was our first choice. We visited there a couple of times; in fact my neighbor was there and we visited her to seehow the situation was. The people were very caring and concerned for everybody. We walked through, and we saw the cafeteria and recreation areas.

I am a current client of this provider

Ave Maria Home Care Services was the only one that would charge by the hour instead of having a minimum of four hours. There's about three people that come and it's mainly medication management and then transportation, so it works really well for my parents. I would definitely recommend them.

She is treated with kindness, respect and love. They are wonderful! She is receiving so much enjoyment out of going. It is keeping her active and busy!

I visited this facility

I visited the facility on a Friday morning. There were a lot of workers and nurses moving about. The facility was nice and clean and had a fresh smell. The entry way looked like the entrance to a club house, which gave it an upbeat feel. Each staff member I encountered was very friendly. I was escorted to one of the apartments by a young lady who answered all of my questions and was very polite. When I got to the apartment, I was pleasantly surprised by the space and decor. The apartment was very modern, had wall to wall carpet and walk in closets. Ave Marie also offers a lot of activities for the residents, which is a wonderful thing for people who are now retired and have a lot of time on their hands. I believe they have a monthly calendar that is published each month full of things to do. And the facility is located in Bartlett, TN which is a very safe and residential area. All in all it seems like a great place for seniors. All in all it seems like a great place for seniors.

My grandmother lived in Ave Maria assisted living for a year before she died. I visited her there many times. There was plenty of parking, but the outside area was not all concrete - the grounds were always beautiful, with green grass and many flowers. The residents had chairs to sit on outside and get fresh air. The building itself also looked really nice from the outside. Walking in made you think you were in a country club - it was classy yet welcoming. My grandmother spent a lot of time upstairs in the library, where residents had access to many shelves of books. She also often played cards with her friends in a public living room area. There were many open spaces for the guests to be social. Her room was very nice, set up like a studio apartment with a sitting area, space for her bed, and a private bathroom. She was allowed to decorate as she pleased, and seemed very happy there.
