The following review is based entirely on my personal experience with Allen Morgan, the rehabilitation section of Trezevant Manor.
My husband was admitted to Allen Morgan for rehab after spending almost 3 weeks in the hospital as a result of post covid issues. He was weak with poor balance but totally mentally alert. The first surprise came when he was placed in a room the staff described as a Covid 19 Quaranitine Room (even though he had just tested negative upon discharge from the Hospital). We were told nothing about the Covid Quarantine rooms, where he was supposed to stay for four days, prior to our arrival. Needless to say, the Quarantine rooms looked nothing like the rooms described on their website. After one night at Allen Morgan, he called me to come get him saying that he could not get help during the night to go to the bathroom or get any requested snacks that I had left for him (with their permission). When I called Allen Morgan about his release, his nurse told me that, since it was Saturday, there was no one that could discharge him until Monday (even though it was our understanding from previous discussions with their staff that a doctor was available at all times.) Further, I was told that if I came to get him before Monday, it would be without a doctor's consent and he would not be given the medicines that he was discharged from the hospital with. After talking with 3 different nurses including the Director of Nursing , I asked firmly that the doctor be called to discharge my husband. I reminded them that they could not hold my husband hostage by keeing his own medications from him, that patients had rights...legal rights and told them that our daughter was a lawyer if they wanted to go in that direction. Within 2 hours, my husband was released with his medications. He said the doctor came and was courteous. The other thing my husband said was the most infuriating thing of all to both of us. His nurse had actually told him that if he attempted to leave the facility without doctor authorization, the police would be called and he would be handcuffed to his bed. This was said to a mentally lucid man who voluntarally went to Allen Morgan for rehab and was expecing to stay for 7-10 days. I shudder to think how a slightly confused elderly person with no family around might be treated. All we can say is watch out for elder abuse at this facility if you choose to place a loved one there.
