I visited this facility

The Gardens of Germantown was very nice and it looked comfortable. We just met with the sales manager and had a walk-through of the facility. They had a workout room, a physical therapy room, a craft room, and a patio.

Provider Response

Hi Pat, thank you for your feedback! We greatly appreciate the five-star review.

Great staff and facilities! Very caring and they were very responsive when we had questions. Food is good, not over the top great, but good variety. The staff seems to really care about the residents. The residents there were smiling and involved in a variety of activities, which was impressive.

I visited this facility

The Gardens of Germantown was the best place. I was impressed with it right off the bat. The staff was very, very friendly and very helpful. The nurses seemed to enjoy being there. The facility was good. They have three memory care sections and we toured all three of them, so I got an idea of what the facility had to offer. I don't know if companion rooms would work for my sister, but that was enlightening and very nice. The dining area wasn't quite as good as the other facility, but it was nice. They had an outdoor seating area that we could go to. It was nice outside and more open.

I visited this facility

I toured The Gardens of Germantown. They only have memory care. The place was in a very quiet area and it was so well-kept like the grass was green. It had some nice curb appeal. The day we were there, there were people moving in or out, I'm not sure which. And it was just very calming and just setting a really good feeling when I first entered. The staff was extremely nice and just helpful, very attentive to any questions or any comments, and sharing additional resources based on her experience and knowledge of the general area and what's available. She's just like a super person, somebody that I would feel comfortable with even if my father wasn't in the facility, just reaching out for help. She would be somebody I would feel very welcoming, and attentive to any kind of questions. They had some kind of activity going on in one room, so you could only kind of peek in the room. But I didn't get to actively see what was going on or anything. We didn't want to interrupt them. I liked how they had it set, and everyone was very nice, all the caregivers that we ran into. I thought it was nice. It was a good fit if we're ready for that level.

My mom is at The Gardens of Germantown and they are taking really good care of her. They're bathing her regularly and washing her hair. The first day that she got there, she was wanting to go to the bathroom and at the place that we were at for rehab, they just kept diapers on her all the time. At The Gardens of Germantown, two girls came in, got her up, rolled her in the bathroom, and put her on the toilet. Now that's the first time she had been on a toilet since March and it just made me feel so much better. They have the place divided up into three separate sections. The first section is for residents who are just at the beginning stage of Alzheimer's. The second area is for those who are kind of midway through and then the third area is for those with dementia that is progressing. They have been nice and they worked with us on the price and everything. One thing I like about this place is it's not huge and so their staffing ratio seems to be good, too. I was just impressed with it. They have the rooms on the outside. Then out in the middle, they have this big vaulted ceiling with glass. It's like an atrium where the natural sunlight comes in. Her room is pretty big. You come in the door and the bathroom is on one side and then behind the door is a sink. The bathroom is really big and they can roll over in the shower and put her on the potty chair to shower her. There's a small refrigerator, drawers, and a nice-sized closet. When you walk in the main door, out in the front, they have a grand piano out there where they have people that come in to play music and sing for them. They have an activity room where they can go and someone will work with them on activities. They have a great big fish tank with all these really pretty fish. So, it's a nice place. They keep it clean and it always looks nice. They do their laundry every day and they don't mix anybody's laundry with anybody else's laundry.

We have found a place for my mother, and it's The Gardens of Germantown. She has already moved in. We like that they have three different areas for three different levels of dementia, and we like that they specialize in dementia. It's not part of anything else, just dementia. The facility is well-kept. It's modern-looking. It's good. The staff are familiar with my mother. They're getting to know her and what she likes and doesn't like. They are attentive. They have a list of activities that they do. They have a garden patio, a beauty salon, and a garden area. There's a variety of meals. I haven't eaten it, but my mother likes it. They seem to be tasty.

The tour I had with The Gardens of Germantown was really thorough. It's a very nice facility, small, but more family-oriented. So, I was impressed. The staff was very calm and cordial, and the residents looked happy, active, and very clean. They provide laundry services, there's a beauty shop, activities, and transportation.

Everyone who worked there was very kind to our precious father. The residents were all clean, nicely dressed, closely watched, and well cared for. The staff members all treated our dad and the other residents with respect, compassion, and dignity. Instead of rooms being at the end of long hallways like at other places, the rooms were all right off of the common room, and during the day the residents were all brought into the common room, so that staff could easily keep an eye on everyone. My family members all agree that we recommend this place highly.

We placed dad in Gardens of Germantown. One of the reasons we chose them is their staff has been there for years; they’re also always staffed. It’s close to home. It worked out really well and my mother liked the facility so we went there. They seem to have a better chef to take care of his diabetic needs. The place is clean, the furniture is new, and they replace stuff when it gets broken. They clean constantly, so I appreciate that. It never smells like a nursing home. I don’t know if my mother participated in any of the activities, but they have a lot of activities. I see their schedule on the board.

My tour at The Gardens of Germantown was wonderful. It's a beautiful and welcoming place but very expensive. They have a common area with fish tanks. They also have a popcorn cart and a TV. The staff seemed wonderful, very attentive, nice, and accommodating. The common area was really nice. Their setup is like a little town, so one building is a town and there's a certain amount of people there and they all eat together. It's a big square so right in the middle is the dining area and common area and all around are all the rooms. It makes it like a little community, which is nice.

This is the third memory care my aunt has lived in, in the area. She has lived here for several months and there have been many changes, but all for the better. I would just like the say that this is definitely the best place my aunt has resided and her care overall, has been top notch. A very loving staff and management team and standards are above board of any I have seen. I recommend this facility to any family wanting the absolute best care for their family member.

We were very happy with this facility when we first moved Mom and Dad into the Gardens of Germantown. However, for the past two years, through numerous admin staff changes, the care provided has diminished terribly. Both Mom and Dad's clothes began to disappear and were replaced by shabby, too big items. Numerous complaints to the Executive Director and others brought no resolution. The food served is insufficient, with very few vegetables and no fresh fruit; and Kool-aid is the only drink offered et meals. Mom is allowed to wear filthy clothes for weeks at a time, and Mom's nails are filthy everytime I visit. There is a published monthly calendar of activities, but very few (none) of these activities are done. Although Mom says she is happy there, we have begun looking for a new home for her. I do not recommend this facility!

The Gardens of Germantown is excellent for Alzheimer's since it's only for Alzheimer's residents. It has three levels. We start at level 1, then, level 2 is in the same building with the same apartment and same layout. Each time you move, you are with people who are in your state of Alzheimer's. They are the best of any memory care facility that I have seen. They have activities. A person is in their section all day long to watch them and see what they need. The nurses are there too, but this is a 24-hour person in the center of this facility. If someone comes out of their room at night, they know and will put them back in. My cousin loves the food. It is fine, but it is not as fancy as where she comes from. The rooms are absolutely perfect. They have a little sink and a little refrigeration in the room. The bedroom is big enough, and they have a nice bathroom.

The Gardens of Germantown was very nice. There wasn’t anything that I did not like about it. I was considering it. It was very clean, and it seemed to be very efficient. It was in a very good location. It was very open, attractive, and friendly. They showed me the lobby. They showed me the open area for the residents. They showed me the private and the semi-private rooms for the residents. The staff was very easy to approach and very friendly. They served three meals a day. I saw some of the relatives of the residents who came to visit, and the staff greeted them on a first name basis. They were very friendly and welcoming to the families.

My husband is in Gardens of Germantown. I’m very happy with it. It seems like they have a strong business management team, which I was most happy about. The food is adequate.
