I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents just moved in yesterday at Heritage Point, and we chose it because it was much nicer, the rooms were bigger, and the people were friendlier. However, I’m not happy with the price, but everything else was excellent and the care that we were looking for. They can play games, go out for a walk, and get their hair done or get a pedicure. They have ice cream socials, entertainment every Saturday, church services forum, and other things to keep them busy. Everybody that we had spoken and any questions that I have, I was really impressed with the answers that I’ve got. They seemed really concerned and genuine about everything they told us.

My mother and father-in-law had been at Heritage Pointe Senior Living before. They were very comfortable that they knew the staff and the facility worked with us on pricing so we went back. The staff treats them well. Their room is a larger studio than normal; the food is not great. They have bingo, exercise, and music and they do Wii bowling.

    I visited this facility

What we liked about Heritage Pointe was that it was not only assisted living, but it also had secured Alzheimer's care in the same facility. So, I knew that as my mother went from dementia to later stage of Alzheimer's she could remain in the same place, in the same building. We also liked it because it was very clean and very organized. We also liked the fact that at the end of each hallway, there were little veranda areas where people could go outside, sit, and watch the birdhouses or flowers. There was a space were people could go out and just enjoy the outside. The staff seemed to be friendly. They introduced themselves to us. We had a tour with the couple of rooms that were empty and available. They were roomy, clean, and well kept. I would recommend it to anybody.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Although Heritage Pointe is an assisted living facility that has studio type apartments, one -two bedroom, bath, kitchenette, they also have an alzheimers unit. My mother has been living in the Alz unite since May 2009 when my father passed away. She has her own bedroom/bathroom with her furniture to make it feel like home. The dining area, kitchen and living room are one large open space to better keep up with the residence and feel more secure and close (no walls to block the view or hide). There is also a fenced in patio area with flowers that she walks through one door, down the path through the patio and back in through another door. She walks all the time. The nurses and care givers make sure that everyone is feed, bathed, and had their meds on time. They also have activities they do with the residence each day. When my mother had a medical problem that required immediate attention, I was called instantly and advised of the situation. Thus able to make a decision of whether to run her to the emergency room or show up to take care of it myself. Point being I was called instantly. No waiting No throwing her to the back burner. When I come to visit I am acknowledge by the caregivers, nurses, and other staff memebers I have gotten to know. Its nice to see a smiling face and go where someone knows your name. In the assisted living portion, you can come and go as you wish. One can have a nurse assit you with your meds. They have a van for easy transport to appts, etc. They offer different activities each week, places to go. You can eat in your kitchenette area or come to the dining room for good company and food prepared by an on staff dietician. The staff do their best to make sure everyone is happy and all is taken care of. Its by no means perfect, no place is but the effort is beyond reproach.

    I visited this facility

I worked with Home Instead senior care which is giving personal care and compaction to seniors in there home. One time I was assigned to go to this facility and help a senior that lived there. The workers at the facility were so nice and showed me around introduced me to other staff members and made me feel welcomed. They felt like a family there everyone was really nice and would help any time you needed it. I usually went to a senior's home for my work so I was scared about an assisted living facility because I didn't know how much work they already did with my senior and if I was stepping on anyone's toes. I didn't they mainly were just there for food and medication they didn't take care of the senior like I did with bathing and so on. So I quickly learned that they were there to make the living experience there exciting with activities and such and also making sure the residents were fed. It was a great experience and when my husband's parents need to go to an assist living facility I know were I am going to recommend. Plus if any other senior needs some extra help with personal care I will be visiting.
