I visited this facility

The Heritage at Brentwood is very upscale. We did not find negatives. There were plenty of activities. It's just such a change in lifestyle for us at this point so we have decided to postpone it. They had some golf-putting areas, some art classes, and two restaurants. They had super nice restaurants. The food was top quality. They had a nice bar area. They had an indoor swimming pool for exercise. They had exercise classes and a swimming pool. The food was five-star restaurant quality. It's ultra-high quality. The general appearance of the rooms was extremely good. You had several different choices, and the layout would have accommodated us fine because of those choices. The staff was very accommodating, very kind, and friendly. The place was very clean and very nice.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have lived at the Heritage for 11 years, ever since it opened. Deciding to live here is the best decision I’ve ever made. It is without doubt the most welcoming place I have ever experienced, and both residents and staff are wonderful. The staff goes out of their way to ensure that I am comfortable, happy and certainly well fed. When I signed up, the Heritage was not yet built, so I had no idea of how beautiful it would actually be and the people so great; I made a financial decision after seeing several other retirement communities based on the Heritage life care concept. This concept permits me to “graduate” to greater levels of care without paying much more than I now pay in a monthly fee. My monthly fee covers my meals, transportation, maintanence, housekeeping, reserved covered parking, activities and interest groups, and so much more. Our current expansion will add more apartments, pool and auditorium. I am so grateful for the Heritage as are my children who very much appreciate the gift I’ve given them of freedom from worrying about me.

Why I committed to The Heritage: 1. Warm, welcoming personnel who are helpful in reaching the decision to become a resident--support w/o pressure. 2. Clean, pleasing environment. 3. Happy, satisfied residents 4. Many opportunities to support mental stimulation and emotional well-being. 5. Through on-going communications and invitations to come and participate, one becomes part of the community from the time of commitment to move-in.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

So disrespectful, understaffed and uneducated nurses. My mother broke her leg and had to stay there for physical therapy. When the time came for her to leave I made arrangements to pick her up and have her stay with me (a four hour round trip drive) for her continued healing. I called in advance for information on her needs and medication. I asked if there would be someone to go over her medication with me and make sure she had enough to last till her next doctors appointment in two weeks. I made it clear I could not drive another four hour trip to refill or pick up a prescription. I was told she would be sent home with enough medication. I called again at 3:00 pm the day before picking her up and asked if she had enough pain medication. I was told she had a week supply at that time. The next day, not even 24 hours later I was there to pick her up. I walked in the first door and not seeing anyone I walked in the next door, still not seeing anyone, I walked over to the desk, no one was there, I walked up the hall, no one in sight, I walked to the next desk, still no one to be found, I walked back down the hall way and found my mothers name on a door and walked in the room. A little time past and a nurse came in the room. I told her I was there to pick up my mother and needed to go over her medication with someone. She left and came back the papers and 2 big zip lock bags of medication. Very over whelming for me since I barley take a Tylenol for a headache, I ask her to explain it to me. She quickly showed me the paper with the list of medication ( of what looked like a different language to me) and then said the information was also on the pill packages inside the zip locked bags. I asked her to show me the pain medication. She pulled it out and there was only ONE pain pill left. I asked her where the rest of them are and she said my mother took them all. How is it possible that my mother took a week supply of pain meds in less than 24 hours, I asked her. She ran out of the room and came back with another paper and said these are the times my mom was given pain meds. Mean while my mother is saying she was skipping the pain meds as much as possible. We argued back and fourth getting no where I told the nurse to give me a prescription for pain meds and I would get it filled when I get home. Of course for some reason there was no Doctor available to write the prescription at that time. The nurse asked me what pharmacy we use and she would have the prescription called in. I told the nurse you cant call in pain meds, it must be a written script. Again she argued with me and insisted it could be called in. I finally took my mother to the car (with no help from them what so ever) and drove home. Once home I get a call from my pharmacy telling me they CAN'T fill a pain med prescription with a phone call. I told them I know that but the nurse insisted you could, so would you please call them and tell them that. After a short while the pharmacy called me back and said they don't answer the phone so she just left a message. I asked the pharmacy if there was anything else I could do other than driving another 4 hour round trip to pick up this prescription. She said they could e-script it to them. I called Heritage told them to e-script the prescription to my pharmacy, they said they would. I checked with the pharmacy the next day and no one sent the e-script. I called Heritage again but had to leave a message. I continued to call until a man finally answered the phone. I told him I needed to have a prescription sent to my pharmacy by way of e-script. He asked me to hold on while he found someone for me to talk to but never put the phone on hold, I was able to hear everything going on. When he reached the nurse and told her who I was she very clearly said to him, I have helped her all I can, and switched me over to an answering machine. This of course made my blood boil so I continued to call until someone finally picked up the phone. I didn't recognize the voice of this person so I told her the whole story including the nasty and disrespectful comment that I over heard. She said they could not e-script the prescription but she would mail it to me. As she seemed to be ending the conversation I asked if she wanted the address. Clearly she would need the address to mail it to, which she didn't have, so I gave it to her and she said she would mail it out right away. That was 3/17/17. I did not receive the prescription until 3/25/17 with a post mark of 3/23/17 yet the prescription was dated 3/17/17. So she waited another 5 days before putting it in the mail. I am so disgusted with the rude disrespectful treatment I received from them and I want everyone to know about it.

My wife and I are members of the Executive Club at the Heritage. This means that we are in the group who have selected apartments and plan to move to the Heritage when the new building is completed in 2-3 years. We visited a number of facilities in Williamson County and found The Heritage to be the very best in terms of location, staff, facilities, and activities. Having all three levels of care- independent living, assisted living, and full Health Center care- assures us that we will have the care we need in a top quality location for the rest of our lives. I would encourage anyone looking at any of the three levels to visit with the Marketing team at the Heritage. They are friendly, smart, and can explain the options available in the current buildings as well as the planned wonderful construction.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I live at the Heritage, as I have for almost nine years, and i love it! I'm not paying anywhere near the $10,000 a month that someone just reported! I pay $4,000 a month for a beautiful two bedroom, two bath apartment, and it covers absolutely everything - most of my food, all maintenance, repairs, guarantee of a private room until the end of my life, rides to doctors and all sorts of events, trips, house keeping, all sorts of amenities and activities, etc. The people are wonderful, the staff is great, and I could not be happier. When you compare what it costs to maintain a large home, pay for health care, repairs, trips, etc., the price seems quite reasonable.

I visited The Heritage at Brentwood, and it's very nice. They had activities, and they had healthcare available. The staff that I met have been really very helpful and friendly. My husband has cousins living there, and I have a lady friend that is now living there, and they both love it. The apartments were absolutely gorgeous. They had one-bedroom, two-bedrooms, villas for standalones, and apartments.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am in my fourth year as a resident of The Heritage at Brentwood. For independent living, this village currently has two large apartment buildings with 181 units of various sizes plus 36 villas, duplex villas, or garden villas. Our attached Somerfield Health Center has capacity (almost all single rooms) for 66 patients in its five most attractive "neighborhoods" (rehab, assisted-living, skilled-care, and memory loss). Somerfield is the only 5-star nursing facility in Williamson County, TN. There are non-residents as well as residents in Somerfield. All are rehabbing or there because they are no longer able to reside in an apartment or villa - or chose it in lieu of "health at home." One additional large apartment building "on the horizon" plus additional amenities, will complete this life care village. Winfield, a day care for adults with memory loss is just outside the entrance to this village. One becomes a resident here by entering into a "Residency Agreement" and paying an Entrance Fee. That agreement contains the contractual obligations of The Heritage to the Resident(s). The Residency Agreement is either a "90% Return-of-Capital' (apartment) or an "80% Return-of-Capital" (villa, duplex villa, or garden villa). In other words, following my death 90% of the amount I paid as Entrance Fee will be refunded to my children (heirs). Each resident also pays a monthly fee in consideration for the amenities and services provided here. That fee varies according to the size of the resident(s)' apartment or villa. It does not increase should one later need to be moved to Somerfield. For a couple residing here the second person fee is the same, regardless of size of living facility. This year, 2015, the second person fee is $1,314. The monthly food allowance is included in it. The extensive dining menu includes at least three choices each of seafood, pasta, chicken and poultry, steak and chops, and classics plus choice of some twenty sides, soups, salads, burgers, shrimp skewers, fish and chips, etc. Twice monthly our award-winning chef has a "Chef's Table" in the Market during which some twenty residents enjoy a four-course dinner. The menu changes bi-weekly -- and my family never turns down an invitation to join me for the Sunday buffet or evening fine dining. I lived alone for several years after death of my spouse and didn't realize what I was missing until moving here. The conveniences, the caring community, the opportunities to pick and choose, the peace of mind, the fine dining is second to none. For example, the exercise room in open 24/7. In addition, there are yoga, cardio blast, strength and define, water aerobics, and better balance classes at no additional cost; as are book clubs, bible study groups, handcrafters, art classes, dance classes, bridge games, Wii bowling league, putting green, bingo, monthly birthday bashes, monthly national food offerings, woodshop, glee club, movies, continuing education courses, and free transportation to medical, dental, grocery stores, symphony, cabin fever outings and special events. There's banking, beauty shop, nurse practitioner, podiatrist , and medical on premises and regularly scheduled in the village. There's a variety of quality entertainment and informative programs in parlor or Steeplechase Cocktail lounge. There's convenient indoor parking for every apartment and villa. Those who no longer drive have a reserved parking spot for a visitor. It should be obvious that I am glad I moved here. So are my children. When my youngest toured the health center, she approved my moving here -- and then I did.

My favorite is The Heritage at Brentwood, but it is $10,000 a month and nobody should be getting that much. The apartments were maybe above standards, but not worth what they’re asking for. It’s a very affluent community, and they can get that price above the standard, but it's still too expensive.

Simply beautiful and breathtaking southern comfort at it's very best. The only thing missing is the Mint Julep. The staff was friendly and the residents are enjoying this stage on their life's journey. The facility is simply gorgeous and well cared for. The residents are laid back and taking life easy. The staff is attentive to all of their needs and is available to them 24/7 if needed. I highly recommend this facility it is the cream of the crop.
