I visited this facility

The Rivers at Maryland Farms is very attractive inside. Things look expensive. But to me, the memory park, which is where I was looking, looks more like a motel. It's one long row of apartments on both sides, but in the center of that long row is their little headquarters area for it. So it might be confusing. There is nothing there other than just this long hallway with apartments on both sides, so I don't think that would suit our system. It's quite expensive, too. It's not that much more than the others, but it appeared like you paid for more things than incidentals there. It looked well run, and it appeared very clean. The people I met there seemed very, very nice and interested in their work. They had big TVs built in several different places, which looked nice. They had some private places where you could sit with family or whatever, and that was nice, too. It's a nice place, but we needed something more immediate help instead of a motel feel. The guide that went with me was excellent. The place is attractive, clean, neat, and looks expensive, and so forth. The clients that I met all seemed like they didn't need to be there like they didn't need to be in a place like that. They could have been in a regular home somewhere, and yet they were in there specifically for memory problems. Nobody seemed to have a problem that they were there. Another negative is that it's a fair distance from where I live. Also, my wife is fairly well along, and it seemed like the people I saw didn't even need to be there. They had some music going on when I was there. Somebody was playing country music for an audience of people and so forth. It's a nice place, but it's not for my situation and distance.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved here. I like the staff, the facility, and the care that they're providing. The staff members were very knowledgeable and thorough. They do a lot of follow-up conversations with us regarding my mom's activities for day-to-day or the week. My mom seems content there. Her room is a one-bedroom. She's very comfortable with her room and the facility. They've got a lot of shaded areas, a garden area, bird feeders, and a centralized courtyard. The location is good and convenient. It's close to the interstate, so getting in and out is easy. The food was very good. They have bingo, live music, an appetizer and wine day on Fridays, billiards, and several different types of card games, which my mom likes.

I thought it was very beautiful and very easy to get around. The rooms I saw were spacious, well-appointed, and very clean. They have all kinds of activities too like craft activities and gardening.

I toured here. It's a beautiful place. It's someplace I can envision myself. The people were nice. I felt comfortable. I was there right after lunch so I could see the menu and what the food was like; it looks good. The room looks fine. I like the atmosphere and the setting. It felt good. The staff who assisted me was great. She explained exactly what I would get, what it would take, what it would cost, and based on my needs, what I could have. The layout was fine. I found my way around easily, and it looked good. The staff was fine. The receptionist was very cordial. She made me feel welcome. Everyone else I saw gave me a smile and said hello. I felt good there. Everything was clean. It felt good being there.

Our experience was excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and willing to work with us. It's very bright and cheerful. It seemed to be a loving environment. They do outings, shopping, scenic drive, bingo, and church services. They had a special pinning ceremony for veterans. They had a great variety of different things that they try to do to engage the clientele. They had several room choices. They had studios. We're getting a one-bedroom for Mom, so it had a separate sleeping area and living area, nice bathroom facilities and a walk-in shower. The food we ate was excellent. It's a beautiful facility. It had nice open areas, courtyard, and greenery.

It was very clean, very nice, three-stories, and I saw people doing activities. They have exercise classes, and they have a little community dog. The staff was very nice, very knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and was very polite. We looked at a studio, they were in the process of painting the wall, and it was big enough for one person. They had a community bus that takes them out to grocery stores, or a little tour out in the country, and that was pretty cool.

Very pretty facility. Very friendly and caring staff members. Many of the staff members have been there for a number of years, which was a huge plus. Many of the areas of the community have been recently renovated including the apartments. There were some really nice outings and programs offered as well. We did have the chance to have a meal, and it was presented well, and had great flavor.
