Gardens at Sumter has a very friendly, very outgoing, and very caring staff. Their interaction with the residents is very good. They would stop and ask them if they needed anything. They are good. The room Mom is in is a lot larger than what we expected. All the meals are provided and she can have snacks if she wants. They have two dining areas that they could choose to go into (either one) and then the kitchen was in between. The grounds are well kept, too.

Gardens at Sumter was nice and clean. They did not have kitchenettes in the rooms and the apartments weren't quite as homey as the other place we visited, but they still were nice. Plus, they smelled good. The lady that took us on a tour was nice and very informative. She answered all the questions that we had. The dining room was spacious and nice, too. They had a couple of patios out there.

The Gardens at Sumter is clean, bright and welcoming. The staff is wonderful and always helpful. My Mom is settling in and has called a few times but is much calmer now. They have plenty of activities, including an upcoming family picnic for July 4th. There is a beauty salon and ice cream parlor on-site. Windows in each room make it bright and the screened porch is nice. I would recommend The Gardens highly, in fact it was recommended to me by an acquaintance. A++.

They had activities at least 2 or 3 a day for residents. A calendar was placed on their wall. The staff took pictures and sent them to me during COVID when we could not go into the home. This meant a lot to my family and I! They had several vendor/craft events where the families could take their loved ones and attend and buy crafts and food. They allowed our small grandchildren to visit as well. In the end, Edgar was blind and I tried to go daily at night to help feed him.but sometimes I couldn’t. The staff went above and beyond by making sure someone assisted him or fed him. The employees were easy to talk to and we became a little family within the Gardens.

My mom is so happy here. She loves Keesha, the director. The girls take good care of the people that live there.

We got a new executive director in January of this year (2022). Please note that the bad reviews were all written when the former exec director was here. We are blessed to have the new executive director!! There is a night to day difference in EVERY aspect of the facility since she has come. She works hard and is willing to do any job that any other employee does. She has always told us the truth. If there is any issue or concern she will address it and fix it IMMEDIATELY if possible. She listens to all residents and has an "open door" policy for any resident who wants or needs to talk with her for whatever reason. She has overseen the painting of the rooms & hallways & getting new flooring in the whole building. I would choose to live here just because of this outstanding director. The activities director is also the best. She keeps us going here and constantly comes up with activities for us (games, movies, parties, celebrations, crafts, entertainment [live music, church groups, young people dancing] and much, much more.) She is also one who we can count on to tell us the truth & she does what she says she is going to do. The Gardens is now a happy place and "the future's so bright we've got to wear shades!"
