Mount Pleasant Gardens Memory Care Community

I toured Mount Pleasant Gardens Memory Care Community. I was stunned at how compassionate and well-run the community was. Just everything about it was a surprise and a relief to someone who happened to look into that kind of thing. The building was super clean. There was no smell, which is kind of a big deal to me. And they had the residents separated. There were a lot of activities going on when I was there, and the lady who did the tour seemed to know everyone. When she saw them, she called them by name, and you could tell they were very comfortable there. They had a common room where the residents were sitting. They were exercising to music, and the lady leading the exercise was very gently getting them to move. It was trying to get people to move about. The garden area was beautiful, and the folks were sitting out there enjoying the weather. And then we went back and saw the eating area which looked very nice. They tried to try to get the people not to just stay in their room, but to be out and about. The whole thing was a very welcome surprise. It is just very encouraging to know that there are places like that available when the time comes.

Mount Pleasant Gardens Alzheimer's Special Care Center was impressive. It was extremely clean. I did not see a speck of dust or a bug. The courtyard was beautifully landscaped. There was a nice fountain out there and people were just walking around enjoying the sunshine. Everybody seemed to care and their residents were kept busy. They were not just left by themselves sitting in their rooms. Their imaginations and intellect were being stimulated constantly. The staff who gave us the tour was very caring and very knowledgeable.

We had a disappointing experience here. The level of care was not what we had expected and there is a general lack of consideration for the residents and their families. The facility is nice and they offer a great variety of activities for the residents; however, quality of care was most important to us.

My brother will be moving into here within the next two months. It was very welcoming. The rooms were beautiful, and everybody was very pleasant. It's a perfect location, since it's very close to where I currently live in Mount Pleasant. I did go out into their private gardens, and they were beautiful. He just loves bonsai, and they were gonna have a bonsai show there. Obviously he's gonna miss that, but he's collected them for many, many years. They had an exercise room and a lovely room for different games and puzzles. We were most impressed with the gardens, and the actual area around it was beautiful. It's all fenced in and very secure, which is important when you're having dementia. Because of memory issues, it would be hard for them sometimes (especially at first) to remember where their room was. I was impressed with the care they took. They put a younger picture of the resident and a nice little writeup about them in their room. It also impressed me because they were looking out for the residents themselves to make sure they would be able to find their room after being there a while.

Mount Pleasant Gardens

I think Mount Pleasant Gardens is terrific. The people that work there are pleasant, friendly and care about my Mom. I am so glad that they are taking care of her.
