Assisted Living Reviews for Summit Place of Beaufort

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
Employee turn over is very high. They are always short staffed. No weekend activities. I moved my loved one in last year because of the outstanding activity programming. We hate to see our loved one staying in their room all the time. Not impressed with the new changes at all. Her room is not being cleaned like it should and her clothes are not being properly washed. They come back discolored and some pieces are missing. Currently looking into other options.

Several years ago my mother chose to move to Summit Place. It was a very welcoming residential facility, well maintained and my mother was very happy there.... but things have drastically changed since 2016. The new Administration staff is not the friendly 'family' who knew every resident and their families and interacted with all of us. The quality of life has greatly diminished. The activities, which were interesting and invigorating to the residents are now so boring that most of the residents don't even attend. The food which was once excellent is now mediocre to inedible. I have seen residents ordering meals delivered, and that is shameful. The facility is now understaffed and overworked and residents are moving away. I am moving my mother to a more suitable facility as soon as I can.

Summit Place of Beaufort was a very convenient place. The people seemed very nice and pleasant. The dining area looked fine. The place is about 15 years old and probably needs a little freshening up.

My mother-in-law would probably end up at the Summit Place. We really liked it and we are very pleased with the facility. It was nice and clean. The people were very friendly. The rooms were small but big enough for her, as she only needed a room for one. It's all in one story which would make it easier for her to be able to get around. Their bathrooms were clean and they were ADA. They had a chef that prepared their meals. I was not able to taste the food but they were having lunch when we went there. The food smells good and everybody seemed to be enjoying it. They had things that were important to her. They had a hairdresser on site. They had church comes there. They had a library, a piano room and music room. They had activities and one of the things that my mother-in-law was interested in was bridge, and they had a bridge club there that actually needed one person. They took the residents out on outing every week.

I am a past client of this provider
I studied and tested a number of facilities before moving my wife, who had Alzheimer's Disease, into Summit Place, which was by far the best choice. The entire staff was caring and helpful, and took excellent care of my wife for two years, before she passed away.

I have visited this facility on many occassions. I have a family member that works in the Beauty Shop located inside this facility. When you first walk into Summit Place you are greeted and feel very welcomed. The residents are usually participating in various activities such as games and sing alongs. They have a nice dining area that the residents can sit down and eat at. They also have transportation to take various residents to their appointments. The staff members are very friendly and are good with their residents assisting them when they need help. The place is very clean and the landscape and grounds are beautiful. I would not hesitate for one minute to place a loved one in Summit Place because I know that they would be well taken care of. When the women residents wish to have their hair done the onsite Beauty shop is where they can go without having to even leave the facility. Another great thing about Summit Place is they hold a "Senior Prom" for their residents once a year and this gives the residents something to look forward to. Summit Place should be everyone's number one choice in senior assisted living.

Visited this facility
Summit Place of Beaufort is a Low Country assisted living facility that I currently visit about once every 4-6 weeks. My role is to help with some designated activities and I have been able to watch the staff and residents interact during the hours that I spend on site. For the most part I would have to say that the workers do try to make everyone feel at home.
Two of the full time residents were once my neighbors and I do listen to what they have to say about their own experiences with their peers and caregivers. It seems that most people here enjoy the cozy atmosphere, not to mention the spectacular scenery.
The one story layout makes it easy for everyone to move about, even those who may need walkers or wheelchairs. Caregivers provide assistance on a 24/7 basis and each of the private rooms has an emergency call light. This is important because it keeps the residents from feeling isolated and alone when they spend some quiet time in their living quarters.
Regular transportation to the doctor's office or certain other trips are only available during the early morning hours. This tight schedule is a little restrictive and makes it difficult for some residents who may need (or prefer) their appointments scheduled in the afternoon.
There is a wonderful view of the water and I have often sat under the live oaks and just enjoyed a conversation with some of the seniors who live here. The food here is superb, and is really better than what you might find at many of the local restaurants.
The private dining room is also very nice and many of the guests prefer to use this room when they have family or friends visiting. Special diets can be accommodated and there is always an assortment of snacks that residents can choose from during the daytime hours.
The close proximity to local attractions, banks and shopping is an added 'plus'. Boat trips and other outdoor events such as Hunting Island picnics are some of the favorite activities that everyone in this senior community looks forward to with great pleasure.

My mother-in-law is in Summit Place of Beaufort. It's an absolutely great facility. We're very happy that we were able to place her there. The staff is wonderful, caring, and they communicate well with us. The accommodations are very nice. It's just expensive. They have a better staff to patient ratio than the other places.
