My dad and his wife have been at The Legacy of Anderson for a few months now. It's been OK, except for when it got cold last week. They lost water over there, which we weren't happy about. Their elevator went out, and they're on the second floor. They had to call down every time somebody would go up or down. Somebody had to be there to run the elevator manually. The food is not very good either. The staff is nice. The room is acceptable. It is clean and everything. It is a 2-bedroom, 2-bath apartment. They don't have a stove in there. They just have a microwave and a small refrigerator because the meals are provided for them. They have a game room that they play games in. They have a movie room, and they have other activities. They have a library and an exercise room. I would rate the facility a three because of the length of time that it took them to repair the elevator.

My father is at The Legacy of Anderson. We've chosen the place because he needed to stay in his own community, his church community, his church family, and his neighbors, and he can maintain everything that he's able to in South Carolina versus trying to transition all of his records to North Carolina. The staff is phenomenal. The place is beautiful and clean. There are a lot of activities there. One of the things that we looked for was whether the residents were smiling or whether they were happy, and everyone we saw greeted us. I did not see one resident there that looked like they were mad. They just looked very happy there. The amenities are phenomenal. My father participated in a sing-along on the tour and my sister is trying to get him involved in some of the things like bingo. He's only been there a little bit over a week, so we're just trying to get him used to the place. He's had a couple of people there who have come check on him to make sure he's OK. There's so much to do there. There's a gym, a fitness center, a hairdresser, speech, occupational, and physical therapy practice onsite, a movie theater, a library, and a covered screened-in porch on either end of each of the floors, so they can go and sit there on a screened-in covered deck. There are a lot of other things that we've been discovering a little bit at a time as far as the amenities are concerned. It's one of those places that if I have to go somewhere to live, I wouldn't hesitate going there because there's just so much and it's very convenient and easy to get to, right off of the main interstate. It's the best that we got out of everyone that we've talked to. Other places are just so extremely expensive and I thought that The Legacy was closer to what we needed. We wanted a studio, which is a little bit less, but a studio was not available, so we opted for a one-bedroom. I would highly recommend anyone who's considering independent living to take a look at The Legacy.

My parents are in The Legacy of Anderson. It was clean and well-kept. We didn't see much staffing, but the one we've seen was very helpful in getting us around in there. They have a gym now, a workout area, a movie theater, and a library. They have arts and crafts, and games.

I had toured The Legacy of Anderson. I was most impressed with them. They seem to be more attuned to what people needs. I just liked it. It's friendly, clean and nice. It seems very much like a home place; the other places seem commercialized. The staff was the important part of the tour that I had. The staff was very informative. The guests seemed so happy there. They have a cocktail hour, and they have different games and lots of activities. I only saw one room that was taken, it was a one-bedroom, and it was very nice and comfortable.

You automatically have friends who are like relatives when you move into the Legacy! The residents are a caring group of individuals who welcomed my mom when she moved there and she absolutely loved the friendships she made. The staff is equally kind and friendly and always seeking ways to entertain their residents, maintain their safety and developing relationships. Her days spent at the Legacy are some of her happiest times. I only wished she had lived longer to enjoy the active lifestyle and the lasting friendships that the Legacy provided.

I looked at The Legacy of Anderson. It's a little more expensive and I just didn't care for it. It was a little too hotel like for me. You go from the elevator and it had hallways. It looks exactly like you were in a hotel. You open the door and there's your apartment. You can open the windows when the weather is good. It would be lovely after they fix it all and everything, but it was like anywhere from $200 to $400 a month more than the other place. Everything else was fine. It was just like a lot of other facilities. It's beautiful.
