Brightview Commons had a nice courtyard that was open to the south. It's airier and open, but still kind of corralled by the building. It's a little more spread out. They probably have a couple more room options and did have a doctor on staff someplace in the building on the assisted living side. That is kind of nice so that some people wouldn't have to go out of the building if they didn't want to. It has three floors. When you look out the window, you see the other wing over there. It's a little close to the highway. If you're outside in the courtyard, you probably hear cars going by. It's a little bit more money, but you get a little bit more. Both assisted and independent sides are pretty much alike. They share common areas. It's just organized by the assisted side and the independent side. The amenities are all the same. I think they concentrate them so that when the RNs or whatever are making the rounds, they are all on one side. You don't have to be bouncing back and forth, that's probably why they do it that way. They're usually some kind of refrigerator there and a kitchenette. They will encourage you to go down to the cafeteria or the restaurant, for the purpose of getting out, socializing, and so forth. I think you bring your own furniture in. Your own bed, bureau, TV, and stuff like that. I saw an ice cream place. The location of the property is very close to the ocean. People can get out and do their own grocery shopping. There are other kinds of small shops in the area. That's a college town from the University of Rhode Island. So, it's got a wide variety of older people and younger people in the same town. It's nicely situated for the independents. For the assisted, it's not so bad either, they can still get on a bus and go someplace. The staff were all very pleasant and knowledgeable. They have what I'll call a Martini bar; it's a very open, nice bar area and a pool table for people who want to hang out in that place. They have a card room and a theater. It has two cafeterias.

We liked that Brightview Commons had a lot of activities. They had sheets that they handed out all the time, showing what they were doing each day. However, it seemed as though they were being very money-forward. In other words, they kept asking where my friend's money was coming from and how she would be able to afford it. She would have to guarantee them. So, it seemed like they concentrated on that and they didn't seem very encouraging to her as far as that. The facility as well as the rooms were very nice. There's a lot of shopping nearby, all kinds of doctors, dentists, restaurants, and a movie theater right near there. The grounds were very pretty. They had an area where they could go out and sit outside. It was a pretty safe area and that was very important, too.

Brightview Commons is absolutely excellent. The staff is excellent, very friendly, and very cooperative. The food is excellent; I haven’t had a bad meal since I've been here. The rooms are very nice. I have a beautiful view from my window, and it is spacious. I have a bedroom and a living room which is a very nice combination. We have great deal of activities going on like movies 3 times a week, and we have a little pub here. I am absolutely getting my money's worth here.

Brightview was excellent and had lots of socialization and a unique music program that was very nice. It was very bright with lots of light coming in. The rooms were very nice. The staff was very friendly.

Brightview Commons is a very nice place. I like its location, cleanliness, and staff. It's very clean, and the people were very nice. The rooms were large enough. The menu looked great, but we didn't try the food. It was just really expensive.

This is a retitrement community that offers different levels of care if needed. My father resides in the apartment with no care needed. He lives independently but he gets his breakfast and supper meals provided.
