I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has a great room. She doesn't complain about the food. I am disappointed in the activities in memory care. I go once a week, my sister goes multiple times a week and every time we go they are sitting watching tv. I realize sometimes the activity is on the tv but there isn't a lot of social engagement in the memory care unit. I know some residents are out of the realm of being able to participate. I was hoping they would try to match residents with others of the same "mental" awareness and encourage socializing more.

My mother-in-law is in Anchor Bay at East Providence. I loved the whole place. It's a beautiful place. It's great food for her. They told us that they would help us when it came time to switch over to Medicaid. However, one of our friends who is also there broke his foot. They tried to get Medicaid to help, but they said Medicaid does not help with memory care. We didn't know that. They were going to run my mother-in-law's money out and then when Medicaid was supposed to take over, they were going to say, "Oh, no, sorry, you got to take her somewhere else." It was awesome. I liked the place. The problem is it's under new management. The staff has been great and very helpful. They get three meals a day. I have not tried the food, but I have read what they have, and I have seen it when we've been there and we're visiting. The plates are perfectly sized for them and it always smells wonderful and looks wonderful. It's been great. The activities are quite good. I haven't been around to witness any with my own eyes, but my mother-in-law loves it. They just need to be upfront and honest with people.

Anchor Bay at East Providence was very nice. It was a beautiful place and everything, I just didn't like that you have to furnish it yourself, and then they had that $3500 one-time fee you have to pay upfront. If you have to pay that, then your monthly thing, and then you have to buy all your furniture, I just think it's a little too much right now. All the staff seemed very nice, and even the residents that were there seemed nice. There were activities. There were some games that they were playing. The size of the rooms was good. We saw the dining room and the kitchen. It all looked very nice. It was well maintained.

Anchor Bay at East Providence was very clean, very well-kept, and very well-maintained. They seemed to have good activities and medical programs. The staff who assisted me was very pleasant and knew all the people there, it was a very good, positive environment. I thought that the upkeep was excellent, and it's in close proximity to other amenities.

My mom moved to Anchor Bay at East Providence a month ago. We chose it because of the location, the size of the room, and the friendliness of the staff and the residents. Inside, it is clean, well-organized, and up-to-date. It feels new and pleasant. The staff seems pleasant and helpful. They had gone out and gone to the beach one time, which I thought was nice.

My dad will be moving to Anchor Bay at East Providence. It's beautiful and it's a nice location. I like the rooms, he has the option of a 1-bedroom or a studio. There's no carpeting so there's no worry about staining the carpets since their hardwood floors, so I like that. There are a lot of activities throughout the day for the patients. I like the office manager who stayed in touch with me throughout the whole process and is working closely with me. The staffing there seems great. They have a communal dining area, it seems nice and clean and there's no odor in the whole facility. The staff who gave me the tour was great.

I liked Anchor Bay at East Providence. It is more of a modern design because it's newer. I took a tour of the whole place and model apartments, and then the empty apartments. Their view is kind of set back in a marsh area, so you have a lot of wildlife back there. They encourage bird feeders and they have small garden plots where the residents, if they're gardeners, can go and plant flowers or things that they loved to do during their life. It's like a good second phase to your life. It doesn't make you feel like you're institutionalized. I thought they really cut down on that institutional feeling, so it was very, very pleasant. That's the word I came away feeling. Oh yeah, I was introduced to a lot of the staff, the fellow who guides the exercises and the young lady who does the crafts and things, the people that were showing me around, and you could see them interrelate with the residents there, and they knew everybody's name, so that was nice. And they ask questions. They didn't know who they were going to run into, but they asked questions about their life, and so it means that they were interested in, and cared to know that stuff.

Anchor Bay at East Providence was fine, although I didn't care for it as much, it looked like a lovely place. I liked that it seemed like a manageable size. The people seemed very caring there and I think my friend would get the help that she needs. I was a little bit turned off about the cleanliness in a couple of rooms; I wasn't overly impressed, though it could have just been a bad day. The laundry room was kind of littered with paper all on the floor. Someone was doing the laundry, I was a little bit surprised at that. I believe that the ratio of caretakers to residents wasn't as high as the other place that we looked at. I'm not saying it wasn't workable, but it just wasn't as good as the other place we saw. But overall, it would probably work fine for my friend, but it just wasn't right up there on the top of my list. I kind of thought that the staff who gave the tour was a little indiscrete with the information that we gave her, she talked about that to someone else which made me a little uncomfortable. Other than that, she was excellent, seemed to have a lot of energy, and was very knowledgeable about the place. We were brought into the dining area and the person who runs that was very nice, and let us know that she certainly would try to accommodate the needs of our friend if she were to go there. So we were impressed with that. There were some scratches in the hallway and some dents in the wall; not a lot, just little things. There was one chair that had a stain, not overly bad, but it just was not top of the heap in my mind.

We chose Anchor Bay at East Providence for my dad because it is twenty minutes away from my house. Before, he was three-and-a-half hours away, and we're the closest relatives, so it was hard going down there, especially during COVID when we couldn't see him for the whole year. It's assisted living, and then they also have memory care, but he is in assisted living right now at level three. I just moved him in there yesterday, but overall, I'm happy with it right now. During my in-person visit, they were very good, and they were very nice. I talked to the sales and marketing rep there. I met a lot of people as we went through but because of COVID, not a lot of people were out in the halls. It seems like a nice place, and the rooms are bigger. My dad is in a studio apartment. The staff seems fine, and they all seem very nice. They are eating in the dining room but only one person to a table. The place is very clean, nice, and open, and I think it is better than where he came from. Now that his physical body has declined a lot, he is better on the ground floor. We actually picked this place because the studio was on the ground floor, and he could get to places easier and not be out of the way.

The warmth, generosity and deep kindness that Ashley gave us as we looked for homes for my 90 year old mother was so special. Their care and thoughtful went WAY beyond what any other facility or person offered~ And during a covid virus they worked with us on room size, sending videos, photos, measurements, hot cocoa with marsh mellows!? :D Unbelievable! My mother is so happy. With great heartfelt thanks from our entire family! xoxoxoxo

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents lived at Anchor Bay for 3 years and we could not have been happier for the care, environment and kindness. First, their health and safety is paramount at Anchor Bay. They were excellent at communicating when my parents' needs were not able to be met or there were issues that needed addressing. Their activities are varied and many. Definitely something for everyone. But really, the best thing is the staff. They pay attention and provide care in the kindest possible way. THis is a very difficult job and the staff handles it with great respect, kindness and humor.

I can't thank them enough for all the help during the process of searching for a place for my wife. They were the first call I made, and the last one I needed to make. It was great! They made our difficult and confusing decision much easier, and also made it possible to have confidence in the decision we ultimately made. They are a wealth of information, not to mention gracious, warm and caring! We're glad to know she's in a place that is safe and with caring people. Highly recommended.
