I visited this facility

I had an in-person tour of the Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone. It was a nice experience. It seemed like a nice facility. The room was nice. It had a twin bed, a nightstand, a sink, a small fridge, a microwave, a walk-in shower, and a bathtub. The staff was very good. She showed us everything and took the time to answer questions.

I visited this facility

Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone was an older facility. It was smaller than where mom is, and I don't think that's a bad thing. I had a concern about the look of the facility and the room that I toured smelled like urine, so I was put off by that. The staff during the tour was very pleasant and the executive director was very concerned and helpful, but the fact that they would tour me through a urine-smelling room was just really a put-off. The rooms were old and not as big as the one mom has now. The dining area was pretty small, so there was not a lot of areas to move around in.

I visited this facility

I toured Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone. I liked the tour guide. What I like least was, when we toured it, they were having a COVID outbreak, so we didn't get to interact with any residents or see anybody that was outside their rooms doing any normal activity. They had a solarium, they had an aviary, they had a small library, and they had some games. The first impression was that, while the rug in the entryway was clean, it looked very worn. It was clean, but it was outdated. They are located in an industrial area, so there isn't a good view. They try the best they can with their location, but their physical location isn't pleasing. It is near restaurants and hospitals.

I visited this facility

I toured Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone. It's neat and well-kept, but it's an old facility. The apartment was adequate. It's a little smaller than the other one, but it was adequate. The staff were excellent. They were caring, and they took their time. They never gave you the impression that you were a burden or that they were just trying to take care of it because that was their job. They really were taking time and making you feel like it would be a comfortable place to be. The dining area was nice and adequate. They have activities, but there weren't any going on. It is a smaller facility, so there are not as many possibilities. However, the rating of 3 is just its ability to meet the needs that I could see that I would be having. They were adequate up to a certain point. After that, I would have to move somewhere else.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

A sweet little gem! The residents are loved and cared for by a great team. The residents seem to enjoy each other's company and many gather on the front porch when the weather allows. Chloe is the name of their community pet and everyone seems to love on and enjoy her.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is in memory care at Colonial Courtyard at Tyrone. It's awesome and we haven't had any problems so far. They're very clean and they're very attentive to my father. We talked to several other people and they recommended it very highly. The people there were friendly and the meals were very good. Everything was very adequate.

I visited this facility

This home, like all others seems to have a large interest in keeping everyone active. The facility itself seemed a little old and the people seems to be friendly a lot of them were retired nurses from the Altoona Regional Hospital. they were very nice. The facility was clean and the upkeep seemed well. It was set up like a dorm with everyone having their own rooms and space. The nurses on duty did not seem to be over worked and by that I mean there was a good nurse to patient ratio. which I feel is very important. There is many levels of care and different options available here to suit everyone's needs. This place was exactly as I expected and certainly lived up to the commercials on TV.This facility is the highlight of the people in this area and it seemed like everyone there had people coming to visit them. Their spirits were uplifting to us all.I could tell that these nurses did not have this job for a paycheck they all seemed to really enjoy themsleves.
