I THINK PRICING IS OK OUTRAGIOUS FOR 10,000 A MONTH. I MEAN HOW ARE SENIORS SUPPOSE TO PAY. I MEAN I UNDERSTAND QUALIFY FOR MEDICAID YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH IRA BUT THIS IS OUTRAGIOUS. MEDICAID IS NO BETTER GOVERMENT AND DOCTORS TAKING MONEY.

Concordia offered assisted and memory care, and it was well priced and intimate. So far we'd been OK with it. We'd been notified about things as we needed to be. We eat lunch with mom, and we can visit anytime. They clean the room routinely; it really seemed to be a great place for somebody who is assisting in their own living. They have plenty of things to do every day.

I was impressed with Concordia. I thought the facility was nicely laid out. They had an exercise room. One of their smaller facilities had about a hundred beds or so. The room size was appropriate. My father did not really need to have a large room. The residents were fairly active. We saw the list of activities that were offered to the residents, but it was not as relevant to my dad because he was not that type of person. He was a reading kind of person, so he would not engage very much in social activities. We did not taste the food, but we saw the menu and the dining area. They were fine.

We had a good tour at Concordia of Franklin Park. The rooms were of good size, and it's very clean. The place is very well-maintained. Overall, it was good, but just expensive.

Frankly, the Concordia of Franklin Park lied to me. They told me that once my mother was accepted there, they will accept her SSI check, but they didn't. They wanted their money upfront, but they didn't tell me that initially. And then, when they wanted their money upfront, I had to go into my own retirement account to get the money to pay them. It's a beautiful place. She was there almost a year, and I wasn't pleased with the care that they were giving her because she was on the memory unit, and I thought, "Well, just get her out of bed to have her breakfast, lunch and dinner," but they didn't. If my mother didn't want to get out of bed, she didn't get out of bed until I got there after work at 4:00 P.M and got her out of bed. Of course my mother can be difficult sometimes because she does have Alzheimer's, and she would not want to get out of bed, and apparently, they told me that they will not force a person to do something they don't want to do. Therefore, if my mother wanted to stay in bed, she will stay in bed, and I didn't like that. Because she was in the memory unit, they should, at least, try to get her out of bed somehow to enjoy the activities and other stuff that was going on.

I can tell you first hand that Concordia of Franklin Park is an excellent facility. With the caring staff, the great meals, and the many activities my Mom enjoys there, her quality of life is rich with new peer friendships, entertainment on a regular basis, and activities such as word games, math fun, bingo, morning stretch, etc. There's lots of bustle and activity in this beautifully furnished and clean facility. My Mom has many friends with whom she enjoys dining in the nicely appointed dining hall and going to the many activities offered there. Family members stop in frequently and find that whenever we happen to visit, the entire staff is very friendly and helpful. In talking with others who have loved ones in this facility, I have never heard a negative comment. Our family feels very blessed to have found such a wonderfully caring home for our mother.
