I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was in Vincentian Home and she loved it there, but it was too expensive to keep her there. But while she was there, everybody was attentive to her, and they would come in and visit with her. She was not able to go to any meals or any activities because of her illness, but the nurses and aides made her very comfortable and took care of her every need. She said the food was delicious. She doesn't eat very much, but they were trying to fatten her up a little bit so they'd bring her everything for each meal. She was so comfortable there that the last week we took a respite, she wanted to stay. She was so relaxed and happy there. So I would say excellent care and attention is given to each resident. It was clean, it was pretty, and kept well, and everybody was sensitive to her needs. Her room was perfect, it was just for her. It was not large, but it was decorated nicely. She had a pretty view from her window that she could look out and check to see what was going on, and she had everything she needed. She had a TV, and a recliner, her bathroom was modern and clean, and everything was spotless. So I would say it was a very nice room. She was very comfortable. I just think it's very exorbitant, it's like $450 a day, which is a lot.

My mother is in Vincentian Home for rehab. Except for them being a little bit understaffed, which I understand is everywhere, I've been happy. And it seems to me that she is too. She has a couple of little issues, but it's her mental capability that gives her the issues, it's not the actual facility. She's eating the food there and they have a lot of options. I know that she's getting rehab daily. She doesn't realize she's getting rehab because sometimes it's just a walk down the hallway, or they observe how she feeds herself kind of a thing. She is getting it at least six days a week. It's a nice place, and the insurance is covering for her rehab. The good thing that they have is continuing care, if she would start in their personal care, she is guaranteed a spot through the home as their needs change. But it's way out of our price range. They weren't encouraging people to get out of their rooms or out of bed or anything like that. They don't do that, they just kind of leave them in their room all day. But they're also there for rehab and they're not very mobile. So I guess there's a difference with the level of what they do with them.

Vincentian Home is wonderful. It's like the Taj Mahal. I took my mother's sister there. It was just amazingly wonderful. For a while, there were a lot of nuns there, and one little nun had a multiple sclerosis, and she would come around in her wheelchair and she'd say to my aunt, "Anna, would you like to have a little party today? Would you like a little ice cream?" This is like off the wall in the afternoons at times there. She would do the sweetest things and she herself was handicapped, but it was lovely there. It was so nice and very clean, and meals were amazing.

My mom is in Vincentian Home. It's very good, and the services are pretty good. They have cards, games, Bingo, and entertainment. The food is very good, and there's a good variety on the menu.

The facility is clean and homey (but not dated); patients are encouraged to eat meals together, and visitors are encouraged to be with them. I think their goal is to get rehab patients up and about-- and I think it works well. The therapy group is attentive and are considerate to do things like provide a schedule for the next day, so the patient knows what to expect. The staff (nurses/aides) are also attentive and communicate well with the patient and family. The aides and evening nurse on the floor had been working there for a while, so you get the feeling that they want to be there, and they have knowledge of the place. My family member who was a patient wasn't very fond of the scheduled activities (i.e., fashion shows, ice cream bars, etc.), but I think those kinds of events were nice and another indication that patients were encouraged to be out-and-about when not in therapy. If there is room available to rehab at this facility, I would suggest placement here. For rehab in the Norths Hills, Vincentian Home cannot be beat.

Mother had been in Vicentian Home for rehab. It was absolutely number 1. I wouldn't have to think to go there in a minute. The staff had always been pleasant. The food had always been excellent. When you went there, they had entertainments. They had schedules when they do things. They even had a little bird sanctuary. It was beautifully done inside. The carpeting and the draperies were all just number 1. The people could come out to eat when they had their breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or you could have it in your room. The aides could take you outside. There was a place to go outside where there were bushes, seats, and porches. My mother was used to being waited on, and the only thing that mother complained about was that they were not fast enough. However, that was typical for a hospital or anywhere because you were not the only person. When she was with us and she had to go to the bathroom, we just got her up and go. There, she had to ring, and she might have to wait because somebody was busy, and that was understandable.

We are going with the one here in Vincentian Home because they have a good place for Dementia patients. We decided that the Dementia Care is a better situation. It is not going to work with Assisted Living. They have very nice private rooms here. The staff is very good, and I am very happy that it is working out well. I was invited to eat there with them. It is not in the range of the very expensive, but it is really nice. So I am happy with it. I was going to check some other places, but I ended up seeing this facility. This is very good.

I visited this facility

I would put my mother without hesitation in Vincentian Home. I like the Christian affiliation that it's run by the sisters of charity; that’s a big thing with me. The rooms were nice, the care was good, and the location from where I live and where my mother would be was good. It’s not dirty, and it doesn’t smell; it’s nice. They’ll take you shopping and to the doctors, and they have Bingo and movie nights.

I visited this facility

I was very impressed with Vicentian Home. Everything was clean. The rooms looked like an apartment, very clean, very organized. For health care, it probably is something that I would like to have my mother there as well. What stood out to me was that the senior people there were very calm and they seem to be very happy with the place.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My father had a brief stay at this location following an operation. He needed more nursing care than the home he lived in could provide. We could not wait to have him moved from Vincentian, as the state of the facility was appaling. Attention spent/paid to my dad was extremely minimal. He was unable to feed himself, and despite repeated instructions from me, no assistance was provided. It got to the point that I had to go at meal time to ensure he was fed. His condition did not improve, but worsened greatly in this environment. Despite lack of the additional "nursing" needs we were told he required, we had him moved to his former residence where the care was exceptional. He was back in both good health and spirits in a short amount of time. Had he stayed at the Vincentian location however, I am not sure he would have been with us much longer. Very disappointing, and I would not encourage anyone to leave loved ones in this care.
