I am a friend or relative of resident
I think Golden Living has gotten a bad rap from social media. My mother has been living at Golden Living for two years now and the staff couldn't be more caring, compassionate and devoted to the care they give my mother. The people who work there have an extremely hard job to perform working with the elderly and inflicted patients but I always see them doing their best. No nursing home is perfect but administrative and staff do their best. I say "hats off to them".

I visited this facility
I called the facility today for over an hours and their sister centers and no one knew how to get ahold of anyone in mtl. My family member was in so much pain today with out a call button and only a phone and not knowing where he was at all. I had to have an ambulance go check on him. The nurses didn't do anything. They are a disgrace. All places are bad but this one I'd rather be shot then go to.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
My experience at the Golden Living facility was rather poor. My father, age 56, was diagnosed with a rare form of dementia and as a family we were unable to care for him at home. Upon entering the facility he was immediately placed in a wheelchair, though he could still walk on his own. Due to the disease my father was unable to communicate verbally. On two separate occasions my father was in a public space, visible to many staff members, experiencing extreme pain. The first incident occurred after dining in the dining room. He had got his arm identification bracelet and part of his wrist caught in the wheel of his chair. Not one staff member seemed to notice his discomfort. Though he was unable to speak my mother found him in obvious signs of distress; he was red in the face, his clothes were damp from sweat and urine, and he had deep red marks on his wrist from where the band had dug into his skin as he tried to free himself. On the second occasion, my mother and I arrived after church to find him parked by the t.v. directly in front of the nurses station. As we approached him he had a look of distress in his eyes. He was once again sweating profusely and beet-red. He also was crying and seemed panicked/short of breath. He was sitting 10 ft in front of the station where three nurses had not noticed his condition until we brought it to their attention. It was another nurse, not assigned to my dad's care, that actually helped us get him to his room and bring the doctor in to check his heart rate. While there were several employees that treated him kindly and with the proper attention, we only felt at ease when they were on shift. My mother worried constantly about his well-being and comfort level there. We felt trapped because it was our only affordable option for care.
