I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
My mother has been in Fair Oaks for almost 2 years.
When my sister and I visited the place in February 2018 we left there looking at each other and saying this is too good to be true.
The nurses and aides really care about the patients and their needs. The food is very good and the menu gives them a variety of choices. My mom enjoys the musical activities.
No place is perfect but Fair Oaks is pretty close.

While no facility is perfect, Fair Oaks comes very close. I think a big reason for this is that it's not a "for profit" facility like most others, so the management can focus on ensuring that the residents get the best care possible. My parents were at two other facilities prior to this, and neither came close in the level of care and compassion for them.
The facility and grounds are very nice and give the residents plenty of freedom to walk inside and outside. Independent residents can keep a car there if they like. My parents were very happy there, unlike other places.
Additionally, there are cameras throughout the facility which are monitored 24/7 for the safety of the residents. It also helps the care staff to stay in their best behavior!
My only regret is that we didn't find this facility sooner, and my parents could have started with independent living and progressed through dementia care, all without leaving Fair Oaks. I highly recommend it.

Fair Oaks is very reasonably priced for what they offer. The rate is all-inclusive, so you do not have to worry about paying extra fees for levels of care down the road. The building is clean and most of the staff is extremely friendly. There is a doctor available on site, but you are able to see your own doctor if you prefer. I have seen Fair Oaks from both perspectives, both as a consumer for a family member and as a part of the staff. I would feel confident having another family member reside here. Though no place is perfect, the Administrator takes all reports seriously and responds in a prompt and thorough manner.

My Mother is still residing there. Most part the place is ok. Aides are nice but,not enough. Weekends only 1 or 2. Food is ok. My concern is the doctor who is Fairoaks doctor. What ever you do get your on Doctor. He is rude and nasty.. My mother went to see him today had to stand( she is in a wheelchair) for an hour. She had question on medicine. He yelled at her and said I dont have time for you.She is 90 years old she has to go to a pain clinic because he refuses to prescribe the meds. I am calling him now. So watch out

When my brother and I were researching care homes for our Mom, Fair Oaks stood out. As we walked through the facility with their marketing manager, residents and employees alike greeted her warmly, as she did them. She knew everyone by name and knew at least enough about each of them to have a brief conversation. That only happened in one other facility and we researched seven of them. In addition, Fair Oaks monthly rate was among the lowest. And, more importantly, they have the capacity to house residents even as their physical and/or mental capacity diminishes, assuring residents and their families of consistent care. Our Mom did move into Fair Oaks and we could not have been more grateful for the level of care that she received. A great facility with wonderful staff that we would highly recommend to anyone.

Fair Oaks of Pittsburgh is a fantastic place. They serve three meals a day. For breakfast, you can order what you like, and they will make it for you. For the two other meals, you have two or three choices for each meal. I had eaten there, and the food was very good. My mother has gotten involved in some of their activities, like bingo. The rooms are very homey and completely furnished with kitchenette, microwave, refrigerator, couch, and chair. Mom's room is very roomy for one person.

I am/was a resident of this facility
I did not feel comfortable at this facility and moved after only 35 days.. I was overcharged more than $1,000 according to how I read the contract when I left. Some of the other residents were very rude to me and kept complaining when I moved too slow to get on the elevator. Too much like a institution. Everything has a set time. Very uncomfortable. The aides treated me very nice. The food for the most part was good. Spaghetti was horrible. Heater in the room was extremely noisy even though it was new. I would not return to this institution. nor recommend it to others.

The facility is clean and the staff is friendly. Delicious food and lots of activities. There is a computer center, a hair salon, a craft center, exercise room, chapel, lovely dining room, etc. Quality care- I highly recommend.

I visited this facility
My sister just moved into Fair Oaks of Pittsburgh yesterday. The rooms are very nice and the staff is very, very nice. We met the director, the administrator, the bookkeeper, the nurse, the maintenance man, and the cook. We met everybody. The food is very good and their dining area is very nice. They have all kinds of activities like Bingo and you can play cards; they have church service and trips to different sites and restaurants -- different things like that. There is a lot for the residents to do. It is a non-profit facility. It is very reasonable compared to some of the other assisted living places and the staff members are very, very well-trained -- they have been there for a long time. The director has been there for twenty-five years.

I am a friend or relative of resident
I have a family member living at Fair Oaks. My sisters and brother go there weekly to visit. Every time we go there the garbage cans in the room are full and need to be emptied which we do. Clothes need to be hung up and at lot of times dirty clothes are thrown inside the closet on the floor. The food is awful. The best thing is the coffee. In recent months they got rid of all telephone land lines and required family members to purchase cell phones for all residents. These people are all in their 80's and 90's. They don't even know how to use a cell phone. I guess the owners needed to save money. The $3000.00 dollars or more they charge a month isn't enough. They even ask for donations so they can give a bonus to their employees at Christmas time. How cheap can you get? The place does look nice but eyes can be deceiving. The employees I have met are nice but they can only do what is allowed.

Fair Oaks Pittsburgh
My father is currently a resident of Fair Oaks, and our family could not be happier with their service. They prepare fantastic food for the residents, 3 times a day. There is many social activities to participate in. He even met a girlfriend within two weeks of being a resident. There are multiple religious services provided as well. I am very happy with the Nursing. He has had multiple strokes in his past, and since he has been admitted to Fair Oaks, he has been taken care of properly. I highly recommend sending any of your loved ones to Fair Oaks. They truly have a beautiful ground, and it is most affordable.
