I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved into Walden's View Senior Living. It's just fine. I pretty much like the fact that everybody there is nice. And when the pandemic was happening, they got animals to keep the people from getting lonely, and stuff like that. Everybody's very nice. Everybody's very friendly, very helpful. Whenever I call, they answer my questions right away, or if I go over there, they're really helpful. The food looks good, I'm usually only there for breakfast time, and everything was really good. They have this little dining area, and they have a cafe that they keep open for the people that live there. So if any time during the day they want to get a little snack, they can. They have all kinds of activities over there, and they try to keep her as busy as possible. Everything is very, very clean. It's a little bit higher than I would like to pay, it's self-pay, and there's not too much you can do about that. They have a giant patio that I've taken her out on many, many times and sat there outside with her. They have tables. You can go outdoors and sit there anytime you want. There's a lot of people there, they can take care of themselves too, and they kind of get up just like in their own home, maybe get a cup of coffee, take it outside and drink it on the patio.

My mother is at Walden's View Senior Living and she's happy with it. She likes all the staff, it is clean, and just within her budget. They have happy hours, they go out and play cornhole, and do different activities. They also have a salon and a whirlpool, but what I liked the most about the place is that when I call or when I show up and say that my mother needs something or I have concerns, they take care of it.

Well, at the beginning years ago it was fine. The past few years it has gone way down hill. Your staff if very unacceptable. They are always complaining. It is not our fault that you are understaffed. There are a very few that are nice and will take the time, but they are more worried about their breaks. Activities, what's that, few and far between. Nothing is set in stone.

To me, Walden's View Senior Living was very nice. I like the fact that the congregational area was open and very bright. There was no odor in there, and I like their rooms. The staff was pretty well even. They seem to have been well-staffed at the time. They showed us the room, the congregational area, and the activity area. The dining area was very bright and very nice. In the area where most of the patients were during the day, they have skylights in them and that was beautiful. As far as I can see, the upkeep was excellent. It's well maintained and very clean. They have cookies. They were getting ready to bake cookies when I was there. The staff was interacting with the patients and all of that. The maintenance seemed very good; what I saw was very good.

If your not going to visit everyday don't place anyone here. The rooms are dirty , the staff is over worked and mean to residents . They can't keep an administrator. Turmoil everywhere.

Walden's View Senior Living's access to the highway was nice with the turnpike. Second thing was, I like that on the second floor where the memory care is, they just let the patients come and go or they do what they want in that area. I like the coffee shop they have for them and the chapel. And it was pretty cool, I like that place. The staff who gave the tour did a nice job. It was very clean and very well-kept.

Walden's View Senior Living was a very nice facility. The tour went well and all the people seemed very nice. The residents seemed to be quite happy in general, and it was a nice facility. There seemed to be some outside areas where you could be with your family members and whatnot, and the room we saw was very nicely laid out and clean. They did a good conversion from having been a hotel room to meeting all my mother's needs. The facility was also clean. There were no smells that one often gets in a nursing facility or a hospital.

I want to tell you when our loved one was in there everything seemed fine at first. The staff if very unaware of a lot of things. The administrator does not have or keep very good records of the patients or they are inaccurate. I generally saw all the residents just sitting around, once in a blue moon they did activities. Now on the weekend, you can't even call in if you had a question, n o one is in anywhere. Just a few aids and some kitchen staff that do not not answer phones. My loved one took sick and you have no one capable of knowing what to do. The med staff is one maybe 2 and they aren't around too often or do not have decent answer for you. There are just so many issues there that go unnoticed or they just don't have enough of help. The staff can be snippy when asked a question or if you call something to their attention. I would hope all of this would get better for all the residences there because right now the staff members aren't working very good. Half the time, they are congregated in a room on main floor or on their phones. Please don't leave those innocent residents alone just sitting there. Some of them may not know the difference, but their families do. You need to hire a full staff person that knows what to do if a medical situation comes up. The staff there does not interact with the residents. Sitting for hours in the community room did not cut it. I never saw them use their theater room or anything different. Same old games or songs. That's it..

Do your research before placing your loved one in this place. The only reason my Mother was moved into the facility is due to her former facility closing. We only had 30 days to find Mom a new facility, along with every other client. We were given a tour via a facetime video, but it was a room that would not be available. We were assured and paid for a private room, which she never saw. They said there were a few patients who were COVID positive and they were in the red zone where no one could be moved into. She was put in with another person with all of the boxes that she was moved with. We could never reach her by telephone, or could we reach any staff member to let us know why we could not speak with our Mother. Any calls to the staff went unanswered or never returned. One person said her phone was broken when we finally did reach someone named Nick who used his phone so we could speak with her. She sounded very weak and out of breath. When asked of her condition, he said she just ate dinner and was out of breath???? The next morning she was taken by ambulance and tested positive for COVID, which took her life a week later. How is it possible for someone who tested negative a few weeks prior would contract COVID when the facility was under lock down?? And have we heard from Walden's view at all...... NEVER!!!!! This shows they do not care about their patients.

Just wanted to alert others who might be looking to move their loved ones into an assisted living place to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! My mom had to be moved quickly because her other place she lived was closing within 30 days. We found this place and thought it looked nice. She was guaranteed a private room, however, when she finally moved in Dec. 16, she had a roommate. Died from COVID Jan. 10. Their staff does not return calls or even answer the phone - very poor personnel, from their administrator down to their concierge.

Wonderful place! I moved my mom Ruth here this summer from another memory care home and could not be happier. The staff is great and Tabatha, the administrator has been very good about keeping me in the loop. I know she is getting the care she needs and that is great peace of mind.

My mother is a resident of Walden's View. They have a chapel, a barbershop, a 24-hour movie theater, and a little store they can go in. All the residents can socialize with each other. Of course, because of COVID, you can't really get out and see it right now, but it is very unique. Everybody there is very nice. I saw a semi-private room, which was very nice, but my mother ended up moving into a private room. I haven't seen her room. I was in there maybe for five or ten minutes because I told them I had to see the place before I could put her in there. It seemed nice. They have a little garden with a gazebo, but I don't have access to anything because of COVID. It looked nice from the parking lot. My only complaint is that you have to make an appointment to see them. It was hard for them to answer the phone to make an appointment and that's been my only complaint so far.

Provider Response

Sue, Thank you so much for your kind words. Your mom is a doll an a welcome addition to our Walden's View family.

My review is for the Memory Care facility. I had to move my father out of his home after a fall which resulted in other medical issues. Unfortunately, he didn't recover, declined rapidly, and was only at Walden's View for less than a month before he passed away. This was all happening when COVID-19 restrictions began. I found the Memory Care facility to be clean and well maintained while offering a home-like environment. The staff was always accommodating, caring and responsible; and, they kept my father safe and comfortable.

After many months of using an in home caregiver for mom we decided we just couldn't do it anymore. My mom was lonely an we were all snapping with each other. Since we moved her to Waldens view she is like a new person. She has made some new friends, goes to all kinds of activities they have an even has gained some weight.....thanks to everyone there it was a great decision for our family

The facility could have been a nice place to have a family member live but the management is awful. The sales woman made false promises and any time you went to the executive director she wasn't very pleasant, and overheard someone say that she didn't care about the employees as long as there was a breathing body. I had a billing issue with my father's bill and the woman that runs the business department gave me the run around along with an attitude. I think that they need a management overhaul in order to make it a better facility. Moving my father was the best decision.

Poor management. Often short-handed of staff. Very high turn-over of staff. Theft abounds. Dirty facilities (cobwebs on lighting, old crumbs and sticky food on seats, awful stench, floors not cleaned, tubs/showers dirty, and windows not cleaned). Laundry service expensive, yet very poor. Clothing items ruined, sent to wrong person, misplaced, or returned with untreated stains. When you take an issue or concern to management, it is met with false promises (no follow through), false informations (often) or blank stares accompanied with no comment in return. Safety issues are of utmost concern in every aspect of the organization from safeguarding a person's dignity (shower in memory care is off the dining room and privacy is not always a primary concern) to their property (theft, misplacements, missing items never seen again) to their health and well being (physical decline from lack of an adequate number of activities) to freedom from bodily harm (falls, slapped/dragged by other residents). Many residents have fallen there and had to be relocated due to the severity of their injuries, complications from their injuries and worse. Doorways are too narrow for wheelchairs in the memory care unit, there are holes in the second floor hallway floor near baseboards under the carpet big enough in which one could catch a toe or a walker wheel at the lower building, the support beams in rooms are cracking in the lower building), Medical record keeping is not up to par or sometimes nonexistent. Visits by doctors are not recorded, incorrect information may be recorded (left rather than right leg injury, for instance), notes written are not always in the correct form and sometime include opinions rather than facts and observable events. Menus often get changed without notice. The memory care unit residents do not get dinner choices on the menu. My loved one's physical status and cognition declined significantly and rapidly after admission to the memory care unit. It was gut-wrenching to see others there in rapid decline, too. Inspection results and complaints/resolutions are not posted in a prominent public area to access independently. Be vigilant families. Ask the tough questions. Ask for records. Do your homework.

Although the place was under construction, it still was not clean. The staff were very friendly, but unfortunately there is not enough of them. I came to visit my mother and she was on the floor in her room with door closed. Always in wet diapers to the point she was gaulded between her legs. The day she came home the side of her face was black and blue with a large cut on her forehead. Never again..

These people, they put all the residents in a circle, and they all just sit there. Nobody was with these poor people. It is so sad. The front of where they interview you at the Waldens was a really nice place. And then, she proceeded to take me up the elevator. As soon as I stepped into that elevator, the stench started.

I know that my father is very well taken care of at Walden's View. The staff is trained to care for the residents there especially ones with dementia. They are very kind and understanding and I truly appreciate that. And the food is good! My dad loves it!

My mom recently moved into the memory care. This was a painful and hard decision for us but after just a a few weeks, we feel we made the best decision for my mom.. The entire staff has made it so much easier on us. We visited so many secure places and they all looked like an institution. Walden's View is like a mini city for the men and women living there. Kudos to the nurses, staff and housekeepers!

The memory care facility has high turnover and it seems there is never enough staff around to help. I've seen people slide out of their chairs and have been there when people fell. I've seen human feces on the floor and wheel chairs roll through it and residents in socks walk through it.. My loved one has had missing clothing, (so I've had to purchase more socks and underwear,) has been slapped by another resident, has had skin tears and bruises that I don't know how it happened and I discovered there was an ER visit when I got a bill from the insurance company 3 weeks afterward. Noone even called me about . In memory care, the residents can't tell you what is happening so you have to really be watching and be their advocate. The cost is $4000/month so I would expect better. It's dirty and shabby. Renovations have been going on for many months but not a lot of progress. Hopefully it will be better when the renovations are complete, but for now the furniture is stained and has visible ancient crumbs and old lint balls in the crevices, there is mold and stains in the bathroom, torn screen on the window in the bedroom, and foul odor as soon as you get on the elevator.

Walden’s View wasn’t as clean and nice as the other place I visited. I think it’s actually very dirty. They have activities, but they need to improve employee attitudes.

We’ve put my mother-in-law into Walden's View Senior Living. The facility is very clean; the aides are helpful and kind. The rooms are a little bit older. They told us there are some rooms that are updated with new bathrooms, but where my mother-in-law is, it has not been updated. The dining room is very nice and bright. The food itself is good; they will post a menu, and then they will change it, so she will go into dinner and think she’s going for one thing, so she was a little disappointed about that. They do a lot of activities; everyday they have something for the residents to do.

My mother is here, and it is very clean and very home-like. The staff are very caring and communicate pretty well. They have people who come in and do different things with the patients. They have sing-alongs and perform plays, and they have activities throughout the day.

The facility is nice. I’m very happy with it so far. She’s only been there a week, but the staff seemed very nice, very competent, and very caring. The facility itself used to be a hotel so the area that they used for the dining room is the dining room for the hotel. The reason I chose this is because its 5 minutes from my house.
