I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We are keeping our mother in Norriton Square Nursing and Rehab. They provide good care, but since the COVID, there is no visitation. The room is very nice. She has a private room and a private shower. The administration is horrible, but the nurses and aides are wonderful. The food is average, but my mother only eats breakfast. She doesn't really eat their food because it is a nursing home food, which is not acceptable. It is horrible food everywhere and not just in that place. She eats homemade or restaurant food every day and somebody delivers that to her. My mom's room is good. They have a rehab center. It is really good compared to many other places.

I am a past client of this provider

My grandfather had been to Rittenhouse Pine before. We sat down, we met with the social worker, the administrator, and discussed what was going to happen. The place didn't have the different smells or things on the floor when we walked in. My grandmother was also there for hospice. I was able to drop grandpa off so they could spend the day together. We paid a small fee to have lunch and dinner, so that's one thing I like. I thought that was good. They also have respite care. But we were looking for a possible long-term stay for my grandfather, and they can't provide that.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Compared to other facilities I've visited (3 in total), this was the worst. The furnishings, paint, etc. seemed run-down. Immediately after exiting the elevators, you'd see patients who were unable to care for themselves, sitting in wheelchairs (many of them). The nurses seemed outnumbered in terms of patients, but many were also not in a hurry to take care of things. Other facilities I've visited were brighter, cleaner, and had more hands-on care. The rooms were on the small side and not very well lit. I never looked forward to the visits there. It felt like some of their least-aware patients were essentially on display by the elevators. Nurses rarely exhibited any sense of urgency in checking on patients, or walking around, compared to other facilities I've seen. The mentality seemed to be more of "get patients out, get a new person in," rather than calling patients by name or interacting with them in a personal way. There was, I believe, an assisted living side of the facility, which I never visited, so I can't speak to their staff or accommodations.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

A neighbor has been in this facility for many months now, and our evening visits are frequent. There is alway a comfortable, safe feeling and the staff is always attentive and friendly. The resident (a gent on hospice) doesn't like to ask for a lot of help, but while visiting, I see that isn't really necessary because staff will come in regularly to see if there is anything they can do for him. At one visit, I came in to find an aide sitting on the bed just talking and teasing with him to build his spirits. It is clear they are trying to make a very sad, difficult situation into an experience that shows they are sincere and want to help.
