this is the most awful place! Short staffed. Current staff rude, unhelpful and some are really nasty. dirty place, refuse to help older residents to bathroom and/or lets them sit for hours on bedpan. patients treated worse than inmates. hear people calling for help all the time. Help that doesnt come. horrible, place is a nightmare!

We chose Attleboro Nursing and Rehab Center for my father because of input from people we know, and they were rated OK. They communicate well with us, they keep us updated with what's going on. I think they're very accommodating, and at this point they seem to be providing fine care. The people I've spoken to on the phone are good, but we only had very limited visits. My father is not really thrilled with the food. What my mother is doing is she looks through the menus for next week, and crosses out things he will not eat. I would say they're middle of the road on the food based on my father's input. They do activities but he doesn't participate in those. I saw the outside, and we're allowed in the one room on the first floor. The buildings in good shape, it looks like it's maintained. What we're paying is standard in the skilled nursing area -- it's a high amount. The price is consistent with the marketplace. They accommodate what we're asking for without additional cost.

First and foremost this place charges twice as much as any other facility in the area. The care is disgraceful. And because of Covid, we can't even visit and see what's going on. My mother went without a shower for a week and a half and when we told them, we were told that the aide checked it off so it was done. My mother talks to one of us everyday and tells us what is going on. Her memory is fine. Her roommate rang for someone to come help her go to the bathroom and it took 2 hours for somebody to show up. The woman wound up banging her wheelchair against the door to get attention. Then they tell us that mother is incontinent. If I had to wait for 2 hours I would be too. They were actually told by an aide not to ring the bell unless they had to use the bathroom. Of course when I reported that they denied it. They have lost my mother's belongings and finally came up with them a month later. The bathroom is never cleaned right. The food is questionable. Usually doesn't look appetizing and sometimes they don't even know what it is. My mother has been left in her bed until noon. And we couldn't even get her out of there because of Covid. I would not recommend this place to anybody. I can't imagine why there isn't some agency who oversees these places. And of course I guess if they know when somebody is coming they are on their best behavior. Horrible horrible facility.

I visited this facility

Let me start out by saying this place is an absolute nightmare. My mom was in here for rehab as she had broken her hip. The second day at this facility i received a call from my mom stating she had rang the call bell and no one was showing up and this was going on for over an hour. Finally someone showed up put her on the bed an and left her there for another hour. I called and spoke with the DON (Kim) and of course was told a lie that we are going to investigate this, come up with a plan that my mom would be toileted every 2 hours and so on and so on. I was then told I would receive a call back with the outcome of the investigation. And guess what no phone call. i called back on Friday an left a message for Kim and guess what no call. What a surprise. Then i called and started talking the case workers Becky and Sam. As the same thing happened again and was told that the call bell records where going to be pulled and another investigation would happen. Becky did call me back but never was told what the outcome was with either incident. One day after work my husband and I went up to see my mom and bell on and 20 minutes later no one came in, my husband had to hit the call bell 5 times and what a surprise in comes an aide. This place is absolutely horrible and they have no compassion for the residents or for family members. God forbid this was there family member i can almost guarantee this would not have happened to there loved ones. This place needs a visit from the state because this is unacceptable!!!! Instead of worrying about the money from the insurance companies, maybe you should start worrying about the residents and screen who you are hiring. Oh and one more thing I am still waiting for paper work that was supposed to be filled out by the Doctor and was told by Sam that she would get it and call me and guess what no call and no paper work. I am so glad i got my mom out of this Hell she was in because that is exactly what it was hell. The upper management really needs to get there act together and get this straightened out!! If you have family in here my advise to you would be please check on your loved ones cause i can almost guarantee they are not being cared for the way they should!!!! Signed: Angry Daughter

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad died 2 wks ago. He lived to be 94 and had a great life. He started to fail quickly & had a fall that sent him to the hospital. After just 3 days he was put on hospice care and was referred to Attleboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. By that time my dad was unresponsive. I don't know if he could hear me talking to him or feel me holding his hand. I don't know if he heard his angry roommate's yelling and screaming or the blasting of the TV. I don't know if he smelled the urine that permeates the halls, or if he felt pain because the night nurse read the orders wrong and never gave him his morphine. I don't know if he felt his bed being slammed and banged after I insisted that he be moved to a private room. I don't know if he heard the laughing and carrying on outside his door from the employees who gathered at the nurses station. What I do know for certain is that if you are looking for a calm, quiet and soothing hospice facility with compassionate end of life care then Attleboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is NOT the place for your loved one.

My Dad was in there and he loved it there. Room was clean and shared with another person. He got to eat meals at a table with the guys. They always have activities, especially the the sing a longs everyone enjoyed. Dad was given great care there. They have trips out to the Mall. The families need to participate in the care too..this is not a dumping station for old people. Go in and have a meal with your loved one, participate with them in an activity, make an appointment for their hair cuts if they are unable to. If the weather is warm outside, take them outside for awhile and chat. You have to get involved too. They do shower 2x a week at all nursing facilities. The days are usually posted in their room. You can lay out a set of clothes for them to change into. This facility is one of the best. No facility is one on one..patient to nurse ratio. It may take a few minutes while they assist someone else but they get there as soon as they can.

One of my parents was sent to this rehab facility and if you're bed ridden you will get NO HELP!! You get 10 minutes of rehab and lay in bed for the remainder of the day. It's a JOKE!! No one answers the call bell, There's one bathroom for 4 people, & it was never cleaned. My parent was never given a shower or bath, had a closet full of pajamas but wore the same ones for a week which were dirty. NEVER SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!!!

My mother did great there, everyone was nice, therapy was very good, and the nurses were helpful. Very pleased with her outcome.

The staff at Attleboro Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is pretty good for the most part. My father-in-law seems to be OK with the food. The dining area is crowded because the people from the dementia unit are also there, so it seems stressful sometimes. There's enough parking, and the place is generally clean, but they don't have enough staff.

As another review stated and I agree, the weekend staff in the Nursing/Rehab Center was not good as my mother was neglected. We were surprised to find her not dressed, and in hardly any clothing when most others were. 2 out of the 3 attendants told us of her strength which we feel was their excuse for not attending to her. Well she only lived another 2 weeks so how strong could she be. My complaints were addressed with 3 calls from administrators. But it was, what it was.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The rehabilitation center is one of the 3 facilities at Attleboro. They're set up more like a hospital. You get a bed; you get a chair. You get a TV and a curtain because you're 2 people to a room. The food was adequate, but nothing to write home about. I would consider it hospital food. Not much variety, not much flavor. I mean, it's like going into a local restaurant. They have a chef there who talks to every resident at least once a week, personally, to see if they like their food. At the rehab, you go down, you eat what they put in front of you, and you go back to your room. The weekday staff was wonderful. The weekend staff was spotty. She was there 4 weekends, and we saw 3 different sets of staff, and at the other two weekends, there were new people, so you didn't get the feeling they knew as much about her as the weekday staff, which was constant. The treatment wasn't quite as personalized. The place was clean. It wasn't as bright and cheery or well lit, and if you go out of the room, there was a solarium to go sit in and an activity room. Attleboro is set in a wooded setting if you want to take a walk outside on the walking path. They were introducing us to everybody, and they were all very nice and welcoming. We walked around the dining room in Attleboro, and they all said, "Hello, how's your day?"

I visited this facility

Do not put your loved one in this nursing home. There are some workers there who do care about the residents but there nurses and aides here who are mean, cruel and neglectful. My mother was in here for over two years. I have seen a man begging for a glass of water who was in a wheelchair and they ignored him. I ended up getting him a glass of water. They are also shortstaffed. I waked by a man who had dementia one night who said he was unhappy. I said "Well tomorrow will be a better day." The worst nurse in the place, her name is Terri Lynne, started laughing, Many of the aides' personalities would change when Terry Lynne came on duty. They seem very afraid of her. I was outside my mother's room and heard people in wheelchairs down at the nursing station begging to be put to bed. They were ignored. After 15 minutes of this I went down the hall and asked Terry Lynne what was going on. She said there weren't enough aides to put them to bed. Two and a half hours later the same few people were sitting out in the main area asleep and completely slumped over in their wheelchairs at 11pm! My mother was choking on her food due to having problems swallowing. I asked Terry Lynne to come look at my mother. SHe heard me asking and did not answer me. Twenty minutes later I went back and asked her again. She heard me but didn't say anything. I kept asking. Finally one of the aides said she'll be down in a minute. She never came down, so 15 minutes later I wheeled my mother down the hall in front of her. By then my mother's choking/coughing sounds had calmed down. I asked Terry Lynne why she did not come down to my mother's room as she had said she would. SHe laughed in my face and said "i never heard you." SHe is someone who should never be allowed to care for other people. I talked to an employee who was more senior downstairs about Terry Lynne ignoring requests for help. WHen I mentioned her name the employee said "That surprises me. She is one of the more senior nurses." My mother was supposed to have soft foods and they would gave her the wrong food sometimes. They are very short staffed. I asked the head of the place Tom if someone could call me when my mother died. He said No because he didn't want to ask his staff to do more work. That is probably because they are understaffed. Donna is not gentle with patients. I heard her telling a patient that if the patient didn't do what Donna was telling her to do DOnna would have to use the machine on her as a threat. Also patients should not be dropped on their beds when having their diapers changed. THis is a HORRIBLE place. The food is also incredibly bad.

Other

My mother was in this facility for 4 years in the Alzheimer's Unit. Overall the staff was very polite and helpful. There was always activities going on for the residents and even taken out to lunch once a month for those that were able to do so. I was allowed to visit anytime of day or night and 95% of the time I received answered to my question or concerns immediately. There were luncheons for all holidays for the residents and their families. Even though I would have loved to had my mother home with me I knew she was better off living at Attleboro. I would recommend this facility.
