I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was fortunate to spend the final two months of her life at this facility. We were able to make it her home by surrounding her with familiar furnishings from her own home. The staff was attentive, professional, and unfailingly kind and helpful. It would be difficult to single out just one for praise. From the director on down, each was ready to answer questions or help. They made mom feel safe, secure, and valued. There were more than adequate choices for meals, and servers always tried to make sure that residents had what they wanted. I was able to join Mom at mealtimes and I was never disappointed! She enjoyed the picnic style meals, especially the family/staff picnic. If she couldn't be in her own home, this was the next best thing. I only wish she could have had more time here.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents liked it at Providence Place Senior Living of Drums. I liked it. They seemed to be doing good there, too. However, when COVID happened, I wasn't even able to go inside. I only saw my parents outside. I feel like the care was pretty good. My father was always saying that they were good, but sometimes he would say, "Oh, I pressed my buzzer and the girls didn't come in too fast." Then he would say, "The girls would be here in the morning and got your Mom out of bed and helped her get out of bed. They would come and help her get dressed." They're pretty good help over there. There was a TV and two nice beds in my parents' room. It was a nice room. They liked their room. There was a bathroom, a shower, and a little sink in the kitchen. They seemed to like it there. I don't know why I brought them home. Mainly because they have a house and it costs a lot of money. My dad said he liked the food. He said the food was really good there. My mom didn't eat too good, but that's just the way her disease is. There were a lot of activities to keep you busy. They took them on a ride like a country ride. I was always calling and telling the activity people that I wanted to make sure that my parents went to their activities. The girls that came in and helped were very nice and helpful. There's three floors and my parents were on the second floor. They could walk down the hallway and there was an extra room where you could sit if you wanted to. With COVID, right now everything has to be limited, and you have to wear your masks. It's a little bit expensive. For some special things, like if you have diabetes, they charge a lot more money a month just to help you do things like shots.

My Father-in-law lived at Providence Place for 2+ years prior to his passing. He started out in the assisted living area and later moved to the memory unit. The care he received was exemplary. The place was always clean, fresh, and comfortable and he enjoyed all his meals. There were plenty of activities for residents on a regular basis both in house and special outings. The connections neighborhood staff was invaluable in keeping us up to date and advising us regarding decisions involving his care. The best thing about this place is the staff; he received loving compassionate care from everyone; he was always treated with dignity and respect. The staff extended that same love and compassion to us when we visited, especially in his final days. A special shout out to Dakota who was one of Dad's favorites. I highly recommend this facility.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm at the independent living level of Providence Place of Hazleton. There are more people here in wheelchairs than you could imagine; everybody is in a wheelchair or a walker. The general appearance of the place and the layout is nice. It was just remodeled, so it looks brand new. However, they're short-handed on the staff, and the food is not that good. There are activities for the residents like bingo, and they have a nice fitness class. I have a 1-room apartment with large closets and a refrigerator with a microwave oven. The staff is good. The food depends on who's cooking. They could improve their food, they could get more activities, and they could stop raising their rent every year, especially since the staff has not received any raises.

My mother-in-law has been in Providence for a month. Everything seems to be going very well. Everything seems to be very nice. The room is spacious and clean, and she is sharing it with another person. My mother-in-law has Alzheimer’s, and she does not have any complaints about the food. The dining room is a restaurant setup. It seems very nice and clean. They have a big common area, and the patients are together quite often. According to my mother-in-law, they do different things.

We moved my father to Providence Place. The room he is in has a bathroom, a living room, and a separate bedroom. The staff is very nice. They would evaluate him, and they would tell me of his progress. In the morning, they have coffee at the café, and then they talk about current events. Then they have movies, and they do work on the computer for memory. There are different activities during the day. They do the same thing almost every day. The facility is fancy-pretty, but it is very relaxing.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I would highly recommend Providence Place to anyone! My mother lived at Providence for many years, (she passed away), and loved her “home” very much. She always referred to the facility as her “home” and enjoyed spending her final years there. I would like to take the time to reflect and share my experience with Providence Place. First off, the building is stunning, extremely clean, smells fresh, is bright and welcoming, has rooms of different sizes and prices, walking trail, outdoor seating, porch outside where my mother loved to sit, elegant décor, and many areas where my mother would attend activities or just sit and chat with her friends. The building has a therapy room, hair dresser, Alzheimer’s floor, and a nice dining room. The food was delicious. I often attended meals with my mom which was no problem at all..there was always plenty of choices! The staff at Providence was wonderful- everyone seemed to truly care about each resident. They were all prompt, caring, friendly, helpful, and respectful. There were also many added features I found wonderful throughout my mother’s stay…my mother loved the outdoor picnics, the musicians, rides on the bus, sitting on the porch in the summer and chatting with her friends, going to Walmart, the casino trips, and going to many different restaurants. They had a driver who would take her to her appointments and pick her up if I couldn’t make it. The price is reasonable, when I added up all my mother’s bills at home it wasn’t much more money, and I knew she was always under great care. I slept well at night knowing she was in a safe place, had at least three meals a day, socially she was stimulated more than when she was at home, had nurses a call away, was given her medications, and was in the best place around! I would highly recommend Providence Place to anyone and everyone!

I visited this facility

Providence Place was much brighter place. The people were very outgoing. The food was excellent. You would feel like you were treated like royalty. They had a person came out with a choice of menu, and he would present the dessert on a platter to show you. It was an excellent meal. The staff's work attitude seemed good also. However, we weren't satisfied with it entirely because when you reached the point when you needed to have skilled nursing, they felt they were not equipped to handle it, and you would have to go a nursing home. They made it known that once a person needed skilled nursing care, they would ask him to leave.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I visited the facility four or five times over the course of about a year. My grandmother's best friend fell ill and spent the rest of her days at Providence Place. The nursing staff was friendly, as were the receptionist and the rest of the employees. My grandmother's friend, despite her sickness, was always in good spirits; she appeared to be extremely well taken care of. The staff at Providence Place is extremely knowledgeable and professional. The facility is very clean and very well-kept. My grandmother's friend never once had a complaint about the year or so that she spent living at Providence Place. She loved the food, the nursing staff, and the other residents. Her days there were happy and filled with good times, including many visits from her beloved friends and family members. She enjoyed her life at Providence Place all the way up until her passing moments.

I visited this facility

Providence Place is a combination assisted living/retirement community. There are residents with no restrictions who are able to come and go as they please. Other residents are restricted based on their limitations or restrictions. Providence Place is a secure upscale community that offers support to those who cannot or do not wish to tend to daily chores. This included meal preparation, laundry, general housekeeping, etc. The facility offers activities for the residents to participate in. Some activities include bingo, arts and crafts, and fun food days. Providence place also has a wing that is dedicated to providing assistance to those with more severe mental and physical limitations. These residents stay in a more restricted area for their safety. The staff that work in this area are typically a trained professionals, such as nurses, aides, and therapists. Providence Place is known in the area as a quality facility with lavish accommodations. The staff is polite and courteous. They provide a level of service that, if I ever would ever need to, I would allow my parents to reside at.
