The people at Willson House needed very clear help because either they're entering dementia or injured by accidents and had to be in wheelchairs. They eat in the cafeteria and some of them can feed themselves, but others may need help from one of the nurses. It's a very safe place with three stories and elevators maintained constantly. A kindergarten is associated with them, so they bring kids over and sing for them. They have Alzheimer's patients. They go shopping and have a bus come for them. They take good care of the residents, but I feel they need more nurses.

Everything was fine until my mom passed and we were told we would get our 500.00 security deposit back-the they kept lying to us that the check was mailed finally after 30 days we get a check for half the amount with no explanation why it was short, when we called they wouldn't talk to us. She was only there 3mo.s and there was no damage or anything owed by us, we were paid full and clear until the first and that even gave them 4 days of care that we didn't even request be refunded..

We visited a few facilities maybe 2 or 3, but one of them I definitely did not like; it was Wilson House. The reason for that was it’s a nice facility and all of that. The office area was really great, but when we stepped into the residential hall, it smelled dirty. It wasn’t a hospital smell, but it just smelled like they hadn’t been cleaned, and they cost more than the others we visited. The dining area was really great. They have patios for the residents, and they could plant on their patios. Everything seemed really great until we stepped to where the apartments were.

Wilson House was very good too. The people were all very good. I was just disappointed that they didn't accept us because my aunt didn't need as much care as they wanted her to have. However, if I had a choice, I would have my aunt in there right now.

The rooms there at Willson House are small and old. The dining room is small. It is an old place, and it is more of a retirement living place -- not at all what we were looking for. The staff was very friendly and very nice. I didn't see many activities because the first impression was not what we wanted. They need to update their facility.

Willson House is kept clean. The kitchen, dining room, and bathroom are kept really clean. The rooms are small. The staff is very nice, respectful, and willing to answer lots of questions. They provide Hoyer lift and 2-people lift. I guess the big thing is the bingo. They also have a Bible study every Wednesdays, but they're not exactly church services. The dining area is very nice. As far as the food goes, there's an alternate meal like a corned beef sandwich. They have certain things they offer ongoing, like a restaurant menu that you can get at lunch time and dinner time. It's a restaurant setting. They're open from 7 in the mornings till 6 at night. Their food is tolerable and pretty good. They need to improve on the way they awaken people in the morning. But some changes have been implemented. I guess my reaction would be if you plan on finding a place here, it's close, and it's tolerable. The caregivers were caring. 90% of them do a really good job.

When we visited Willson House there were activities going on and people were out and about it. They seem to have a good and positive environment. I think they are understaffed. The staff were low compared to the number of residents that they have. The strength of that facility is that they have on-site child care center and there is a lot of intergenerational activity and I think that is good for both the youngers and the seniors. The person who gave us the tour was the receptionist and she really could not answer pretty basic questions.

I have with a few ladies who were residents of this facility and I am impressed everytime I see the relations the staff have with the residents. When you walk in, it feels like your at home, by the constant smiles and realness in their talk. How well in tune they are with the care and the residents themselves. The residents feel good about where they are and thisis such an important feeling to have when you've lost so much to actively dying. They nurture and continue friendships and are all together very close.
