My mom has been here 20 years. From independent living to assisted. It has gone downhill in quality over the years. AND Now they did a rapid covid and quarantined her in a room with no phone for 24 hours still no tv 4 days later. They barely look in on her. When you want a warm drink forget it. Its like she is a leper. I don't get a Catholic place not keeping staff and having the quality care they should.

Mary's Woods at Marylhurst was a gorgeous, upscale facility for those with a high income. The studio and the one-bedroom apartments have a large kitchen area and a lot of the rooms have a very nice view of the forest. It's brand new, and they have a full range of activities. There are complete kitchen areas where people can bake if they want to do that, and there are games. The activities are scattered throughout the facility, so it's homier. If you can't walk a lot, you don't have to go very far to get to an area where you can be with people and do crossword puzzles or whatever. There are lots of common areas. The dining area is lovely and has a nice view; they have an elevator to go down to it.

I liked everything about Mary's Woods. It's a very loving community, it's beautifully laid out, and the rooms were varied and nice. They have excellent amenities, and they're top quality. They're on the same campus as Marylhurst University, and anybody who's part of the community can register for class that's offered in the university. I enjoyed the food very much; it's top quality and excellent.

Mary's Woods at Marylhurst was just too big of a community for someone who's got Alzheimer's. It's great for people who are independent and don't need help. They just don't have enough assisted living and memory care for the residents that they have. They're constructing an apartment building with shops underneath it. They've got everything there. You buy in like you're buying an apartment, and then you pay rent on top of that. They have a beauty salon, a health center, and community programs. It's like living in a big senior community with a clubhouse.

Mary's Woods at Marylhurst was buy-in. It was a very nice facility but we didn't like the concept of buy-in. There were a lot of amenities. What attracted us is that it's right on the Marylhurst campus and if you live in Mary's Woods you're allowed to audit any of the college classes that you went to and that appealed to us a great deal. The dining area is very good. We had lunch there and it was excellent. The staff was really nice, caring, concerned and excellent.

We found them helpful. It's close to where we are living now, and that's one reason we chose Mary’s Woods. The rooms were very nice. They had several dining rooms that had small tables, and they were attractive. They had all kinds of activities. I was impressed most with the friendliness of the people and the cleanliness and attractiveness of the place.

We're planning to move in to Mary's Wood. We had a social group and we had about 25 people who lived there. It's continuing care, from people with independent Villas to large apartments, small apartments, assisted living and then skilled care. You wouldn't have to move anymore. It's really more of change of residency and change of lifestyle -- that's what I liked. You could walk from the property and right on to a trail that goes to the river. The grounds were very good. We knew some of the staff there. I would recommend them to others.

Great marketing, very poor execution, very high cost. Look elsewhere unless you are a millionaire with low standards. Expect a never-ending stream of additional charges beyond what is initially disclosed. Have an attorney negotiate the residency agreement to ensure what is orally represented by marketing is actually in the written agreement. Expect to be treated as a second class resident if you are not a member of a Catholic religious order.

Mary's Woods offers my Mother enjoyment and caring in a beautiful setting along with peace of mind for all of her children and grand children. Thank you Mary's Wood. And, all of this is at a cost she could not afford anywhere else.
