I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was at Aberdeen for 5 years. During the two years, new directors were hired on and the service for residence has been superb. Her room was always clean. The bathroom was always clean. They made sure she ate ate her meals and took the time to feed her if she had difficulty in feeding herself. The staff was always friendly and very caring and loving. They had a concern for my mother and all the other residents.

My father is in the memory care of Aberdeen Memory Care. The place was very pleasant and his room is also very pleasant, clean, and very adequate. The staff members are wonderful and the services are as expected. They are just always helpful and very cheerful and very caring for the people that live there. I went to their holiday dinner there and it was lovely. They have a craft area, there's a television or music room, they watch movies, there's a music room, and they have books. Their dining area is very pleasant and clean.

I visited this facility

I toured Aberdeen Memory Care for my mother. The place was clean, and they had very good and helpful staff. They answered all my questions and they were very friendly. They have a salon and an outdoor area. It was just a very nice facility for memory care. The bedroom size was adequate for what you need for memory care. They're about 200 or 300 square feet.

Aberdeen Memory Care was a nice facility. They had activities where they tried to do some outings every once in a while. They have individual and semi-private rooms which looked nice, too. The staff was nice enough, but I just didn't feel like it was a good fit for my mom.

So far, we haven't had any issues with Aberdeen Memory Care. They've been really helpful, they keep me abreast of how my mother is doing, and they've been really nice. My brother has been there; I haven't been to the place yet because I'm in Texas. My brother likes everything about it: it's nice, it's clean, and everybody there has been helpful, so we have no problems. They're very good with updating us. When I call for whatever information or to check on her, they tell me everything, really. They're very good with communicating, so we really have no complaints. She's been eating quite a bit, and everything's been really good. I think the value is pretty good. I think it's more reasonable than a lot of places, and they're really doing a good job in taking care of her. All these places are way overpriced, but I would not think about doing the work that they have to do to take care of people with Alzheimer's; it's a lot of work.

Aberdeen is no where you want to send your loved ones. The staff work as a corporation and your loved one is thought of as a transaction rather than a human. The preference of care for this institution is to have your loved ones sedated and quiet. Nurse on staff will mandate additional sedatives if your loved one is not doing exactly as they would like. The staff turnover rate should also be a sign of this facilities inabilities to run a successful memory care facility. My loved one was dumped without notice in the middle of the night at the hospital with Aberdeen claiming they were no longer responsible for my mother. Aberdeen will tell you that because they are a private institution they are able to do what they see fit without your consent or knowledge. Please let me help you and your loved one by telling you the horror my mother and my family went through under Aberdeen's care.

Storey Oaks Tulsa was clean and didn’t smell. What I liked best was that one of the ladies who helped us and took us on a tour couldn’t have been friendlier. As she took us through, there were all these caregivers out on the floor helping people; that’s what I wanted to see. I saw this one guy, a therapist, giving this lady a neck massage and everybody was gathering around watching TV. I liked that a lot.

I visited this facility

Storey Oaks is very close, but I can’t move my mom in yet. It was open and friendly, and it was kind of like a house environment to me, like a home. The rooms were all shared, and for me that was good as people can get to know each other better. It also has special activities specifically for memory for patients with Alzheimer’s and activities; they are geared towards that. They have lines painted on the floor so that people can have an aide to their memory to get back to their room. It was clean and beautiful, and the help was nice. I would love to put her there, but that’s not going to be possible for me. It was like a big house where people are part of a family.

Storey Oaks of Tulsa was adequate, but it was not quite as impressive as other places I'd seen. The grounds were quite nice. For me, the location was not good, but it was located with easy access to many of the facilities in the area. The staff members were friendly. They were forthcoming with answers to all the questions that I had; they were knowledgeable and good.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother was at Storey Oaks of Tulsa (Southern Plains Alzheimer's Special Care Center). I got her out of there because of staff issues. Everybody quit; we went through three directors while she was there. At one time, they didn’t have any full-time employees, just contract. If you have Alzheimer's patients, one of the main things with them is consistency and routine and not knowing the staff is extremely hard on all the people, so everybody was anxious and acting out, and it was an absolute mess. My mom and three other residents left at the same time because it was bad. After seeing other facilities, the room seemed really cramped. They had hardwood floors that had a urine smell at times. I don’t have many good things to say about it.

Why is it that we can not even get a local number to call this facility. We can only get a corporate phone number which can not give us details about the local facility. This is talking to a used car salesman. The whole industry is like this.

My mom is at Southern Plains Alzheimer's Special Care Center. We chose this one because its appearance was appealing, and it sounded like they would have a lot of activities and things for them. Basically, I felt comfortable when I went in that they would take good care of my mother. I know that there have daily activities and that they try to keep them busy. Especially in the evening, they try to find something to keep them occupied. They have really been good with my mom so far. They have a doctor in the facility.

Southern Plains only focused on Alzheimer's and dementia type patients. The facility was clean and beautiful. However, the attitude of the caregivers weren't as good as the other facilities that we had visited.

My aunt is here and this is one of the most lovely, friendly caring facilities I've ever seen. The staff is amazing, and always welcoming. Very clean and well maintained. Residents all look well attended and comfortable.
