Green Tree was beautiful. I toured the memory care and it was very nice. It was like a home environment where there was a central living area, kitchen, and dining room. It's a really big central area with TVs and all that. Then all the bedrooms were around that central area so you could easily get to each room. It was super nice, very clean, and decorated beautifully. The staff seemed super nice, too. We would have loved for my loved one to go there, especially since it was just like 5 minutes from my mom's house, but they wanted him to be at least ambulatory or be able to get up with the assistance of one to a wheelchair, and he wasn't able to do that. The residents we saw looked like they were well taken care of and happy. The people there were awesome. They were all very caring and nice.

We chose Green Tree for Mom because it's a beautiful facility and the location was close to home. We felt good about it when we chose it. It was very clean and very inviting. The outdoor space was beautiful. It looked well-maintained and newer than where she was at. They had activities every day. It's a very small memory care facility. The food was good. They offer things daily. When my mother was there, it was all women and they would sit and paint their nails and things like that. They had constant activity with them and that was never an issue. She was there for about six weeks, but of that six weeks, five weeks were spent in a hospital. She spent about ten days actually in the facility. She fell and broke her hip at Green Tree. If my mother was not a dementia patient, I would give it a four-star rating. The day staff did a very good job. The night staff caused more damage than good. They need to improve the night shift staff and train them.

I had a friend at Green Tree. It was very, very nice there. I interacted with the staff just a bit and they were very nice and very helpful as far as directing visitors and helping us to understand schedules and things. My friend liked the staff very much. They had plenty of activities. My friend really liked their activities. She was very much into little things that they did. I had to call ahead to make sure she was going to be in her room. Her room was lovely, and it was a private room. It was like a studio where you can see the sink and all of that. It is all in one room. It was very nicely appointed, clean, well-lit, and very conveniently arranged. It was arranged so that someone who was still mobile could use it, but should she need to use a wheelchair, she could be comfortable in that room, too. The common area was very nice, too. She was very happy there, and it was lovely.

I like the location of Green Tree. I was looking at the memory support unit. It had an outdoor courtyard. It had a circular layout of the apartments. The thing I didn't like was that the apartments were small. The facility was very clean. They have a living area for the families when they visit, an area for arts and crafts, and an activity space. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. She had the best interest of my mom in mind. Even though we didn't decide to choose them, she tried to help us find the best option for my mother.

I toured Green Tree for my grandmother, and I liked it. It was kind of in the country and it had a very homey feel to it. Residents were walking around and sitting on couches and everyone looked content and happy. They didn't have that oh-no-I'm-living-in-a-nursing-home-I-hate-my-life vibe, and everyone just seemed like they were in a kind of at a hotel and just seemed content. The staff was very, very happy and upbeat, very friendly and very personable. She was great and I liked her a lot. My grandmother doesn't need anything fancy, and the room was a lot bigger than I expected. For just a studio apartment, the bathroom and the closet were huge. It was a lot bigger than I had in my head. The dining area was like a nice restaurant. I thought it was going to be like a cafeteria, but it was more like a restaurant. They have tons way more than I expected. They have entertainment that comes out and they have all the little classes. If you were a social older person, it would be great because you would have something to do every day. Everything was spotless.

My mother-in-law is in Green Tree. It's close to all of her family members, and it's a very nice and modern facility. So far, we've been very pleased with it. It's very clean. The memory care unit is pretty unique for those types of residents. We just think it's a really nice facility. Her room is nice and it's private. She has her own room, her own bathroom, and shower, closet and storage areas. It's relatively small, but it's very nice. The location is good. It's near a couple of main roads. Almost all of her family lives out in this general area. We don't have any complaints of any kind and they've been very good about everything. We like it. The staff has been very helpful. They return calls and when we have any questions or anything, they've been very, very helpful. It's one of the nicest facilities we've seen. We kind of looked around before we chose them, so we'd rate it at the very top. My mother-in-law thinks the food is very good there. Her sister has visited her and has eaten with her a couple of times and she says the food is very good there. They've got different activities almost every day. She has participated in some of them, so they're trying to keep her active. We haven't been there during the activities, but what we've heard about them is they're good. They try to do a very good job there. We find all these facilities somewhat expensive, but for the fact that it's one of the nicest facilities and they seem to do things very professional there, I would say that the prices are fair. Everything about this place just seemed good. So far, we're very satisfied.

Green Tree was a nice facility. They just didn't have any openings on the bottom floor and with my in-laws' mobility issues, they can't be up on a higher floor. I also didn't like the fact that they have to go to the cafeteria to eat their meals. They shouldn't be forced to go down because it's lunchtime, but they had a little kitchenette in there. I even questioned them on it, "What if they decide they don't want to go down and eat?" She said if they're not doing well, they can bring them food. I said, "There are times you just want to stay home and eat in the comfort of your own home," and she said, "We'd have to start charging for that," so I didn't appreciate that. It's expensive enough and to force them to have to go down to the cafeteria, I don't approve of that. They're paying their money to live there and to be provided for, but they should have the option of eating in the cafeteria or eating in their room because three meals a day down in their cafeteria, there's no way my in-laws would do that. They would start skipping meals and that's the last thing you want. Everybody was very nice, very polite, very courteous, very helpful. It was a very nice facility, and they do fire drills. Every month, they would be getting them up in the middle of the night or the middle afternoon. Because of their mobility issues, it prohibits them from being upstairs. They have to have an elevator to be able to access the upstairs. They can't go up and down the stairs. It's a nice location though. They have walking trails out back and little raised flower beds for them to be able to plant. The staff was all right there. It didn't seem like you had to hunt for anybody. Somebody was always walking through or not too far away.

We visited Green Tree Memory Care, and it was a decent place. It was just a little too far away for everybody to drive up to visit mom, so well probably not go with them. It was kind of a strange deal; it was set up nicely, but we went there right after a rainstorm, so I guess not all the staff was there. It seemed understaffed, but they said they had plenty, so I just take their word for it, but since it's too far, I'm not concerned about it anyway. The one who accommodated us was named Lorrie, and she was very nice. The dining area looked just fine. The room was small, but it was a memory care unit, and they don't need a whole lot of room. They spend most of the time in the common areas. They had ladies watching TV, playing cards, and doing a little experiment. It was raining while we were there so we couldn't do much outside. They have a little area to sit outside to get some sun and relax. I think they have a beauty shop, a little separate family-meeting room, and different things like that.

Green Tree Reflections Memory Care Residence
Dedication to Service
Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's or other memory impairments is a very personal, loving dedication to service. It requires service for specific and individual needs.
More often, the resident with memory loss needs assistance with life's daily activities including personal care but may not have an acute medical condition requiring around the clock skilled nursing or instruction. Finding that unique combination of physical setting and specialized care is a journey traveled by many families.
The Reflections Program
At Reflections, our trained staff works closely with family members and friends to assemble a "Life History" identifying the personal experiences of each resident's life.
Through the "Life History," we get to know the personality behind the person, fostering a one-to-one association more like "friend to friend" rather than "staff to patient." Details and events from your loved one's past become "shared" memories and experiences serving as a foundation for activities, communication, and the development of friendships built on support, understanding and mutual respect.
