The staff here is wonderful! They take the time to get to know everyone. The therapy works so hard to get the skilled back to 100% They do Bingo often , Live music , Coloring, Arts and crafts. Just over all wonderful.

My father was in The Highlands At Owasso Nursing Homes. He started in rehab and then he could not be rehabbed any further, they transitioned him to long-term care. He was in the same room, basically the same care. They just stopped rehabbing him to try to get him home because we knew that wasn't going to work. He was there for a couple of months. It looks like a three- star hotel from the front and in the lobby, and the rooms were fine, It just that the care wasn't up to our expectations for what we were paying, you couldn't always get a hold of someone on the phone, you couldn't find anyone when you needed help with something. The staff was very limited and a lot of people would just drop their jobs and walk out. So I don't know what caused that, but our most difficult problem was staffing issues. No activities, except when he was in rehab, they did do some occupational and physical therapy, but that stopped when they transitioned him to long-term. He could either eat in his room or eat in the dining room, and the dining room was down a long hallway. And my dad can't put himself in a wheelchair. They would push him down there, but then they refused to push him back. He had to get back on his own, and that was a real problem. So he had very little interaction outside of his room. The dining room area was fine. My dad complained about the food a lot, that most of the time his food would come cold. When a hot meal was supposed to come, it would come cold. One time he even got a meal that was supposed to be hot, that was frozen. So his biggest complaint was the food, it just was not up to par for what we were paying. We never met a doctor while we were there. They need to work on their staffing issues and pay more attention to the people that live there.

My mother went to Highlands for skill rehab. We were told they didn't have any Covid cases and were being very cautions and careful with their staff to ensure everyone's safety. The family was not allowed into the facility to ensure safety guidelines so we depended on the staff to care for our mother. After many times of speaking with our Mother and finding out what horrible care that she was receiving we complained to the Director of the facility. We couldn't get a call back from any nurses or staff to find out what was happening with our Mother's rehab. We were getting ready to move her out of Highlands only to find out that she was very sick and contracted Covid from the Highlands staff and they were sending her to the hospital where she passed away. After further investigation Highlands had several Covid cases before and ongoing in their facility when they told us they hadn't had any cases. They were just trying to make a profit and it ended up costing my mothers life. Each time we spoke to our Mother on the phone she just cried about how horrible it was at the Highlands. Considering we were not allowed in the building and couldn't ever get a call back from anyone until many escalated calls to the Director I believe they are not caring for the patients like they say they are doing. Based off what our Mother was saying they just left her in the bed day in and day out without trying to help her regain her strength from a hospital visit. It was a horrible way for my Mother to spend the last two weeks of her life at the Highlands facility. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

I visited this facility

I have never seen so many rude arrogant people in one place. Especially employee by the name of Robin H. She was with out of doubt rudest person I've ever met I would not want her caring for anybody I love or care for. I hope someday she has to live in the same environment that she has created working here

This by far is one of the worst facilities I have ever seen. Yes it’s beautiful but that’s all it is. Very disorganized and no one that really wants to help you. My aunt went into the skilled nursing. I could go on and on but I won’t just please don’t put a loved one in this facility!😡

Our family all agree The Highlands Executive Staff has gone above our expectations to make sure Mom has an easy transition into her new home. The nursing staff is personable and kind. Mom has made many new friends in a short time we have too Some folks do not get visitors and are happy to have a new friend They all look out for each other they play cards and Bingo. They have a movie theater we look forward to having fun there. We are very happy with Mom's new home

Horrible experience! My grandfather has only been there a little over two weeks and their standard of care is nonexistent. Since his stay he has fallen and laid there without assistance for an undisclosed amount of time, his bed has been covered in urine and and my 80+ grandmother has had to assist him to the restroom multiple times because no one every responds to her call button. A complaint to the Medicare Board for negligence has been filed. Do not send your loved one here!

My wife has been in this facility, for about 3 weeks. While it is a good looking, and apparently clean place, it has shown to be severely under staffed. They don't even seem to be able to get someone to staff the gift shop. She has also complained about the nursing shortage, especially on the weekends. The cafeteria also does not get a good review.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I stayed at this facility for 3 weeks for the purpose of rehab for a combination of broken bones. The facilities were beautiful, artwork on the walls and chandeliers in the hallways. Very nice dining area with decent food and a good amount of choices. Dining staff were great. I needed my food cut up and there was no problem. The facility is clean and the cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and I could control the air conditioning and lighting. The rehab staff were great, and I felt like I got the best care possible from them. I had doctor and surgery appointments while I was there, and the administrative staff got the times mixed up on several occasions and it was extremely stressful. The nursing staff, however, were competent and knowledgeable and proactive on the part of the patient. They were gold, in my opinion. The resident doctor was very good, as well. The transportation people were wonderul too and waited out my hospital surgery to take me home. When I first arrived at the home, I was totally bedridden for a week. The aides were slow to answer the call button. They sometimes were at the receptionist's desk just hanging out and ignoring all calls. I timed them, and not one ever came before 15 minutes, and that's tough when you are on a bed pan. Many times it was 30-45 minutes. I had several night episodes where I was choking and couldn't breathe (still not sure why) for a few minutes, and it was no comfort to know that it was pointless trying to call anyone. They would never get there in time if I should pass out. One of the aides went to get some water that I requested and never returned with my mug. That is very stressful when you can't get out of bed. I got the water from another aide an hour later. I was at the home for 2 weeks and got 3 showers while there. The aides again did not seem to want to bother and the shower schedule was pointless many times. I do want to say that there were a couple of aides that were compassionate, and I was always relieved whenever they were on duty. Once I was able to maneuver in a wheelchair, I became less stressed. (I do want to say that I was in a local hospital for a week before I arrived at this home, and the aides were just as uncaring.) If I were not totally bedridden, I would recommend this home and would actually enjoy staying there again.

My father was here for rehab. The nursing and rehab staff were very attentive to his needs. He said, he really enjoyed the therapy he received everyday and the staff was very nice and caring. The place is really beautiful and very clean. the dining area was so big, bright, and open. The food was no too bad, and he had different choices to chose from. I believe that, if needed, we would definitely bring him back for rehab again.

The facilities were beautiful and we thought it was going to be great It wasn't. The staff didn't,t seem to care much about the patients comfort. There we r e fortuitously and clothes scattered around the room and often there would be 3 or 4 staff standing around the desk talking and eating while no one answered flashlights. I once found my beloved friend in wet slacks that were put back on her after she had wet them when no one would answer her light to help her to the bathroom. Terrible patient care.
