My uncle had rehab at Swanton Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. The facility is pretty clean. The only thing I have a complaint about is the residents can come and go to smoke. They don't have a code to come in and out the front door to go smoke. That's my only complaint. One of the residents can get out and get hurt. There should be a nurse out there with them, and there's nobody out there with them. The food looked pretty appetizing and they do really good on the upkeep on the building. They keep the sidewalks really clean when it snows here and everything. They did a really good job on that. The cost is just too high. They won't accept my uncle's Medicare, but they would accept Medicaid. He doesn't get Medicaid. They should accept more instead of being privately pay.

Would never send any friend to this place the place is dirty the staffing don't know how to do there job took and hour to get a roll of tolit paper they never check on the patients they are to busy on there phone they say they have a top notch staffing nothing like that they will here from my lawyer and the state they should be shut down that is how bad it is

Recently had to place my grandmother here. She was terrified to come into this type of a setting. This facility took the time to find out what mattered most. They ensured that she was met upon admission and even had a few of her favorite things set up in her room. They took the time to make sure she felt safe an comfortable. I have seen great improvment since her rehab has started, and we are looking to discharge to home soon. A few weeks ago I thought for sure she would never be able to go home. The therapy is excellent she has more energy, and gets around so much better. I cannot thank them enough for giving her back her independence. She loves the food, and has a safe spacious room to stay in, I was really impressed with the variety of activities they offered. Highly reccomend

Do not leave your loved ones in this facility!! I wish my family had been warned. My grandmother was here for less than a week. The staff was incompetent, she was not cared for properly. My family's experience with Swanton Valley was truly a nightmare. If I can prevent anyone else from being hurt by these people, I hope this will help. They were very convincing that they had a great "5 star" facility, but we stayed with her as much as possible as we could see as soon as she was in there, it was not what they promised - Not even close! Unfortunately, we couldn't be there every minute. They gave her the wrong prescriptions, or didn't even have what she was prescribed to give her. The staff disregarded all of our concerns and questions, and treated us like we were overreacting when we were concerned about things that were or were not being done. If you care about your loved one's well being, find another facility, or better yet, look into home health care. Do NOT leave them at Swanton Valley!

Swanton Valley Center was an older nursing home. They had mostly semi-private rooms that were just separated by a curtain. If your loved one was in very advanced stages of Alzheimer’s and basically didn’t know where they were, they have a very secure locked-down unit, but it was a very tiered nursing home. The lady who took me around was very nice, and I met very few other staff. I didn’t see evidence of a lot of activities -- limited activities and limited amenities.
